  1. SO How is it that you are still reduced to a suitcase and a room??

Surely this guy could not have created a lease for long term residency on someone elses house?

He was the temporary "property manager" filling in for my landlord who is out of the country. He most certainly did to this!!!

Pictures, documents, knick knacks, jewelry, souveniors and my clothes stolen or thrown away. All thats left is the suitcase I had with me on my holiday. As for the room I'm living in, that's temporary. Currently I'm house hunting.

  2. Gotcha Creep! This delinquent rented out my house while I was on a 3 week vacation. Came back to find someone living in my house and everything but a few DVD's and dishes were thrown in the trash. EVERYTHING!!!! Police were most unhelpful, telling me I had to wait till my "real" landlord to return to Thailand. I can only hope some of his victims get back their money, although I doubt it. As for me, I've been reduced to a suitcase and a cheap room.

  3. Unfortunately these young thugs will be out in no time at all. If their families give the police enough money, it all gets swept under the carpet and these guys are right back out selling and smoking it. Happens almost daily in Rawai and some of these people are quite dangerous. Corrupt Thailand.

  4. As a Farang lady living in Phuket and having a few Thai men as friends, I have a few things to say on this topic.

I find most Thai men quite attractive in one way or another. They can be quite charming as well. Quite a few have no problem inviting themselves into your bed 10 minutes after you've met them.

Ladies beware of phrases like "I come see you tonight?" "I take care of you." And even the "I love you." These can be ploys to get you in the sack or have you pick up the tab for your night out drinking. Sound familiar guys?

Do I sound bitter? Maybe a little. I've played with the fire and I've been burned!

I don't know if there is a growing number of hi-so/lo-so "Farang lady/Thai man" couples here in Thailand. But what I do see, seems to be middle-aged Farang women with Thai men half their age. Sound familiar guys?

These Thai men, from my experience, prefer to "meet up" with thier farang dates in some dark corner of a crowded bar, rather than take a chance of being seen with us on the back of their motorbikes. Just being seen walking alone with, or holding hands in public can draw quite a few looks of disapproval from Thai women (and farangs) and just as many "attaboy" looks from other Thai men. And yes, their friends tease them.

So, as one of the middle-aged Farang females in Thailand I must say; I love Thai men, most of the time. And, as long as each is getting what they want from the relationship, more power to them!

  5. sitting in banana guest house now, totally happy with the staff and the room. The staff are polite and helpful and the cheapest grog in town. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable with cotten sheets, not crappy polyester. Penang on the whole is quaint. Have been to KL before and liked it less and less with each visit. Penang may not rock everybodies boat but it rocks mine. you can walk for as long as you like and not get lost, lots of fun and interesting shops especially cheap good bookshops. Way cheaper than phuket as far as books are concerned. Considering the visa situation a great second option to consider as far as living and enjoying. the flight was great and not so full with 18 people on board. food is wonderfull with china town and little india within walking distance of each other and many other places in between. really pretty architecture allbeit old. will be back sooner rather than later. the best thing of all is clean air!! just like phuket but better drivers lol.

Will have to agree with Kiwi/Thai about the Banana Guest House. Clean, cheap and friendly. I've stayed with them on my last 3 runs.

Am going to check out this Firefly flight. Am sick of the loooong bus rides.
