There is no wu-flu. There is a SARS CoV-2  virus which results in a deadly illness called Covid 19. You think you are funny, but you are not.

There is free testing. Present with symptoms and be in a risk demographic and they will test. Do you not understand that there is a shortage of testing supplies, lab facilities and personnel? The priority is being given to probable infections. At this point, free testing will encourage unnecessary testing.  The priority now must be to prioritize  attention and to trace active cases.  Under current asset limitations, active infections will be given priority.

    You are right. Make priorities!

  2. I'm wondering if anyone reading the comments on this knows if the immigration office at Chang Wattana is open. I could assume it's going to be closed due to it's location near Don Muang, or at least not possible for me to find transportation to since I live in the southeast part of town, but logic doesn't seem to get me very far around here lol. I'm changing from tourist to student visa and get paperwork from my school, assuming (again) that I can manage to get to campus in Bang Na tomorrow (Wed Oct 26th. Bangna Trad rd km 26) I know it's unlikely all things will work in my favor, the roads between me and campus were all but impassable last week. Thanks for any info that can be provided. If you don't know it's not a big deal, I'll call Assumptions office in the morning and immigration to get their advice. I could easily wait a week to get this processed anyway (but having lived here almost 10 yrs, I doubt flooding will subside by then anyway.)

You live here 10 years already so you should know I suppose. BTW 10 years on a tourist visa and now changing to EDU visa? Chok dee to all in Bangkok.

  3. It's the same old "loss of Face" stupidity.

I agree with lentsa that this is what may be involved with denial of help from the US Navy. However, I find it in conflict with the cooperation that exists for all the "Cobra Gold" operations that take place all the time. Not to mention all the R&R time spent by military personnel here. It is apparently OK to line the pockets of the military and the bars in Pattaya but to hell with the other people.

The navy resources could have helped thousands in a short amount of time and now that opportunity is lost and I hope the affected citizens of this epic flood are provided a good reason for their government turning its' back on the offered help.

Maybe Taksin told his sister that because he was denied US entry, she should not accept help from the USA.

At least the USA made a valid attempt help. Can't say the same for many other countries.

The Netherlands offered help as well and did sent experts but it was impossible for them to work as no one was in charge and they "the Thai experts" knew everything better. So the left Thailand already.

  4. Mezzanine floor which used to be a lounge ... I hope they are not talking about that area which used to be a restaurant and which was located, if I remember well, on the 5th floor. Now that would be the first time I will see a security check performed before immigration.

At CNX they do a security check before they let you into the building.

And a second one AFTER the immigration/before boarding.

  5. In addition to the current and ongoing True 3G trial in BKK and some other areas, TOT and several of its licensees such as I-Mobile also are continuing to offer a pretty decent 3G service in Bangkok. It's just AIS and DTAC customers that will get screwed by this...

That, and, the True 3G trial is on the 850 Mhz band, which not all phones can receive. The TOT service is on the more common 2100 Mhz 3G band... The CAT also was fighting to stop True from offering its 3G trial in past months, but I haven't seen any outcome of that effort... True continues to offer their 3G, as best as I can tell.

Here in ChiangMai but also in Hua Hin and Pattaya 3G from AIS works good.
