  1. Exactly who do they think is going to be spending the money on these holidays if the People are not Working making money to even Buy food??

    The whole Idea is Moronic!!

All they are doing is Creating a situation for the people without jobs to feel more depressed about because they can not afford to participate in celebrations. And they will end up having more suicides. The suicide rate is already at 22% in Thailand. That is higher than anywhere i have ever heard of.  They need to open up the country and allow the people and the country get back to work . Open up tourism and let the chips fall where they may. There have been so many Private doctors, Scientists, and other Health professionals that have done private studies that prove that the risk is not even remotely what the Media is claiming. Do NOT destroy Thailand over what boils down to a war in American Politics. and Yes I am American. and I do know that more countries are involved and affected. but the whole situation has been organized and perpetrated by the Left wanting to destroy the American Government, and therefore the nation. And I do not understand why Sovereign countries like Thailand are taking their Que from organizations from organized and influenced by private parties forcing their own agenda by pushing false Data . Do NOT destroy Thailand in the process. Do your own Testing, and research individually from other countries studies.

Glad they have made this announcement. Hope it has finally filtered down to every immigration office that this is the correct official line and they will stop saying the extension begins on day of application.

I doubt that they will all get it, and even if they do the information is never shared with the full staff. and definitely now understood the same way, or interpreted the same way. That is why i only deal with the Big boss of the immigration office in Udon Thani. He is great as long as you are polite, respectful, and understanding. I have dealt with him for a few years and he knows that i only show up when i need to be there and that i have a good attitude, so he goes out of his way to help me. which is more than we can usually hope for.

Submarines may just be the answer!

I know what you mean. They are spending so many MILLIONS of DOLLARS on Submarines, while so many people are starving. They say that they are worried about the people, but what about the people who are starving because noone in their family can work to get food to feed them? Like all governments these days they can't see more than 2 feet in front of their faces. And in this case as well, they are just following other countries example instead of making their own policies based on what is actually happening in their own country.

30,000 baht as a specialist, having studied 6 years medicine, done a Msc and going through all this studying to be on salary you could make, managing a McDonalds. That is ridiculous.

This is Thailand, Thailand doesn't pay anyone anywhere near what they pay in western countries. It should be more, but it is not very often more. Working the private hospital would greatly increase her wage. Especially if she speaks English which is a requirement for staff in some of the Private hospitals

I would be against anything that would give China a stronger foothold here.

they already own the vast majority of the air bnb condos in Southeast Asia and that money (beyond the purchase of the condo) goes straight back to China with no benefit to Thailand or any other country they are in. Why do I say that? I travel frequently and use air bnb regularly, in the last 3 years I have done 37 rentals with air bnb in Southeast Asia and don’t remember any that weren’t Chinese owned.

I am against it as well. They have bought a huge chunk of the US as well. I think that every country should restrict land purchase to people committed to living there. Which would (if it were even possible here) help the country of Thailand to allow Foreigners to become citizens if they were wanting to make a permanent move to LOS.

Yes, its not like you gain anything from thai citizenship besides access to the cheap health system. They dont have to worry about millions of africans coming in as they rather go to europe for free government money.

Many foreigners married to thais would probably love citizenship here, and they would invest more money into the country once they have more security.

I think that you are right. If we were allowed to become Permanent residents for a while to prove that we plan to Sty and live in Thailand, then be given the chance to become citizens, with any property being willed to our Thai Wives, Or Thai family members. There should not be an issue. It could only benefit Thailand in the Long run. But like many others, just because it would make sense Does not mean that it would likely be done in Thailand.

I guess they expect some would leave as soon flights would resume to be allowed to fly in /out , if not it shall be extended once more until all stabilize , as this solution is also meant to help the stranded tourist  ones …., not meant for the ones jumping I.O. hoops however they also benefit from it as borders closed for visa runs ….

Also, Some may just make visa runs simply to get the Cobwebs worked out from the Cabin fever.

Needless to say that I'll keep doing my 90-days reporting on time (via post) just to be on the safe side ????

If They even let you in to do it. I would recommend taking the Thai wife or Girlfriend with you in case there is some sort of sign on the door. It would not be normal, but maybe in this case they will provide some extra Information. Good Luck.

You do know it's optional staying in Thailand? There are so many neighbouring countries. Just take a pick.

I actually do not like the law. It is a pain in the ass. But i try to remember that we want people coming to America to do things our way regardless of their view on it. SO, i really can't bitch too much about it. If I want to live in Thailand, I do as they say. If i don't want to do as they say, I Move. It sucks, but it is what it is, And i already have my family in Thailand, and the other closest countries do not measure up even considering the inconvenience of this law

  10. How do they not understand that we expats are not the terrorists.  The changes that they are making are more likely to let terrorists into the country. Those of us that live in Thailand spend money and support the local economy. And if we can move around the country being tourists, we will spend even more.  But if we are targeted and treated like criminals,  then we will all end up moving away to places that treat us better
