Another way to deal with this is to take clips/pics of here doing her stuff, or catching interactions with her on video. If she gets out of line, even better.

 

Don't call the police, head over with materials (make copies, though) and file a complaint. Alternatively, resort to social media - but this would require good Thai language skills, and avoiding putting up details that may identify her. For both, more effective if neighbor is cooperative.

We got several video clips of her, on several occasions.

The two other times - one solved hosing food, feces, cats and cat lady. The cat lady was indignant, the cats more pragmatic. The other time, we added some sprinklers, that could be opened without stepping up to the gate. Whenever she'd came over or a cat fest began, open the tap and and soak them good. Not much words exchanged after the initial request of them to stop was ignored.

 

Pepper and the rest of that stuff only works if it doesn't rain, maybe better for car park.

 

IMO, there's no talking to these people. Especially the cat variety.

 

A dog works wonders, and doesn't have to be a large one. Just feisty enough to handle stray cats. It will soon pick up the vibes and bark it's head off the minute she draws near.

 

Another thing you may wish to do is contact one of the many NGO's concerned with stray animals, and seek their advice and/or help.

 

Oh, and the Thai version was ultimately a failure. Lived in an apartment, and other neighbors weren't too interested doing much about it themselves. Somehow failed to make the connection between cat lady's feeding them and the smell. Or the cats trying to have kittens in balconies of lower floors.

About loosing face... she had very thick face because she must have known by now we (and neighbours) do not like her putting cat food in front of our gates. She seems to us to be the kind who wants her way no matter what. I am actually quite worried if further conflicts with her happen, she may do something dangerous to us, like damage our cars or house in the middle of the night, or set fire to our house. Or worse, if she might even have weapons. I definitely do not want to find out.

there had been news in Thailand that neighbours killed another neighbour due to piling conflicts. ????

Also, I would just keep the watering the food down the drain trick once she leaves.  The only way she can solve that is she would have to stick around and make sure the strays come eat the food but if she is that imbalanced, she likely has other things to do lol!!!!

Once she found out we removed the food, she did stick around until the cats finished the food. And yeah she’s that imbalanced. But she couldn’t stick around every time after a few consecutive days. So now it’s a long battle between us and her. See who has more patience?

I had first heard of it a a kid, where mum would sprinkle table pepper over the garden. This stopped the cats (we has 11) from scratching thier poo, and disturbing her plants 

 

Best pepper is white, and the most Finest of thew powder that you can get your hands on

that sounds really frightening... it’s the same problem as people keep puppies because they are so cute. Of course they are! And once the dog grows big and became a problem (often due to lack of training) they just put the dog at the temple. Because people will feed them right? They think they are being kind to the dogs. It breaks my heart hearing this kind of stories. Same with the cats. If the cat lady really loves them, take them to the vets, get vaccination and maybe get the procedure done so the cats cannot have more and more kittens and create more problems.

Normally if you approached someone like that they get the message and won’t do it again. Yeah we also had a dog lady who did that some years ago. We just needed to tell her and that’s it.

but this cat lady... wow she’s from a different world or something. A world of no reason and no communication...

Oh I have tried all you said. We were polite to her about feeding elsewhere. We also told her the poop problems. Then she still came back to do the same every night. So we waited until she’s gone, threw away the cat food, and she came back to check and found we threw it so she cursed loudly outside our house like want to pick a fight. I surely do not want to fight her. What if one day she comes round with a weapon? She’s already crazy as it is. And cannot talk reason with her. I must stress that we have never spoken rudely with her. We were always polite. Even when my neighbour had a full confrontation with her which became a verbal assault, they also never spoken rudely with her.

Sadly that’s easier said than done. We have told her if she love the cats she should take them back to her house to feed them... and we promptly got a rude reactions from her. Everybody who spoke to her about feeding cats got the same treatment. She wouldn’t take the cats to her house but would come every night, rain or not, to feed the cats. Really mental...

We used a bag of Lime from Homepro ( 19 baht for a 500gr bag ) to break the cats toilet habit , works well.

You mean the fresh lime fruit or...? I am interested to know more please. ????????

Hi all,

I am wondering if you have any experience about what to do with a situation like this.

a few months ago this lady (Thai) came every night to feed some food to stray cats outside my house. And since then there are more and more stray cats coming to eat the food she put out every single night. These cats also do their smelly businesses around my house and my neighbour’s house. 
 

My husband and I had confronted her before to stop putting food out for the cats but she was really nasty and fierce. She scolded us in extremely rude words and still do as she likes. She said that she doesn’t put cat food in front of my gate. But she put the food in front and inside my neighbour’s gate. My neighbour told her off about it and got scolded about a month ago.

last week things were escalating. As she came to put food at neighbour’s gate my neighbour kicked away the food. Then she went into this crazy fierce mode who kept on scolding my neighbour, an old man. She even attempted to hit him, luckily his daughter was blocking her from hitting her dad. This crazy cat lady then called up her friends to come for support. About 4-5 people showed up. One of them joined in the verbal abuse. Fortunately nobody got hurt that night. Neighbour also called police but to nobody’s surprise police never show up. Neighbour’s wife has a video record of the quarrel.

since then when she came round every night to put cat food, she always scolded neighbor in her rude language. My neighbour’s daughter will wash the cat food down the drain as soon as crazy cat lady left.
 

Tonight when she found out that the cat food has been washed down the drain (it’s like she came back to check) she started scolding and kicking neighbour’s gate. Then she also kicked and broke some pots outside the house. My neighbours did not come out as they couldn’t hear. I told neighbour’s not to have another clash with her because they couldn’t fight her and her partner (she always come with somebody in a motorcycle).
 

I feel a bit unsafe in my own house. It’s annoying having to deal with the cat poops and pees, and the noises she made at night when she comes round to put out cat food. The cat lady lives somewhere deep down the soi and she’s not even around our house. We and many people have always told her that if she loves the cats so much why not she bring them home to look after? All we ever received was her scolding.

Is there anything we could do? Advice please?

Also, the TM2 form is really confusing especially #7,8,9. I found a sample but it's for Malaysian entering Thailand. How do you fill out these forms? ???? I have uploaded the file here which I got stuck filling in.

Firstly, you require a few documents before you leave Thailand, namely the translation of your blue car registration book into English which gets done at your local land transport office - takes a couple of days -  plus some copies of the TM2 and TM3 which are available on the Internet. These forms are pretty weird and appear at first sight to apply to ships crews etc but it is necessary to fill a set out for inbound and outbound journey. 

 

 The border at Sadao is big and fairly new although confusing as the signposting is extremely bad once you enter the complex. Firstly, we parked up and walked into the Thai immigration departure area which apparently wasn’t necessary as there is a drive-through booth for cars (although not immediately apparent) which we ended up going through on the way out. Make sure you have your reentry permits already, although you can buy them there if necessary, I believe. 

 

 The main problem arises when you try to find a place that issues Malaysian car insurance and the temporary number plates. We drove through the Malaysian customs and immigration points and were not asked for anything to do with these documents, and it was only when we were outside the area and formally in Malaysia that we realised there was nowhere to purchase them. ( there has been previous comments about tents on the side of the road, but there are absolutely none, believe me). We then drove back through Malaysian immigration and eventually got directed to the JPJ office  which wasn’t really easy to find. A friendly official there told us we needed the insurance certificate and number plate details before he could issue the ICP.  I asked him where we could get that, and he pointed to a bloke hanging around outside who it transpired was some type of messenger for an insurance company; we followed this guy on his motorbike - again out through immigration into Malaysia! - to a shop just down the road on the left hand side where a lady issued the insurance certificate and stick-on numberplates and also completed a rather detailed Malaysian form that is required by JPJ to issue the ICP.

 

All this took about half an hour, whereupon we then drove back - again! - through  Malaysian immigration to get to the JPJ office, after which the ICP was issued quite quickly. We were the only people in attendance both at the insurance office and JPJ, but I would hate to think how long it would take if there were a few people in front of you… 

 

 The backwards and forwards movements through Malaysian immigration barriers was easy enough when you explained to the person on duty what your problem was, and in the end - after about the fourth time! - they smiled and said they hoped we were now finished and could get on our way! One thing to remember though; make sure at JPJ you tell them how far into Malaysia you are travelling. If you don’t, you are given an ICP that only covers you for the border states. We are going as far south as Malacca and he therefore issued one to cover us for that distance. Luckily there is no charge for the ICP. The Malaysian third party insurance - valid for 30 days - and the number plates cost 140 RM.

Hello Bogbrush! Thanks so much for sharing your experience in detail! I have a feeling that crossing the TH-MY border these days is not as easy as it was 2 years ago. Definitely not from what i have read so far! I got a lot of info from this post by Isaanman and also the current post which seems to be the most updated so far, until your version came out. haha! You should copy that and make a new post so others could search for it. ???? 

First of all i didn't know that translating the Car Registration Blue Book took a few days!! ???? So thank you for this piece of info! 

My husband is Thai, so we will be driving a car registered under HIS name to Malaysia with our children. Do you have to leave your car a lot to process the insurance and permits? I am worried about this because we have small children with us. 

May I know how many hours it took you to finish with all the documentations at the border (including going back and forth to get the ICP and insurance)?

And to confirm, you do not need to get this thing called Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) and Road Charge (RC)? It says at the website (https://vep.jpj.gov.my) that it is required for all foreign cars entering Malaysia but their offices are located at the South Malaysia which makes me think it applies only to Singaporean cars.... ????

So in brief conclusion once you arrive at the TH-MY border:

(1) Drive through lane to be stamped out of Thailand, show TM2 & TM3 forms.

(2) Process into Malaysia via drive through lane?

(3) Find the insurance company to buy insurance & temporary car number plates (~ RM 150). 

(4) Go back to JPJ Office at MY Immigration to get the ICP (RM 150), specifying how far we want to travel in MY.

(5) Buy Tonch-n-Go card with top ups as soon as possible.

Do these steps sound about right?

Finally, I wish you and your family a happy holidays in Malaysia. Driving in Malaysia is much less stressful. I am a Malaysian. Whenever I go back and drive around the city, it always feel like really like driving in big lanes. HAHAHAHAHA 

Hi! Thanks for your info. For the ICP, is it compulsory? Do you get it when you are processed into Malaysia? I plan to drive to into Malaysia via Sadao border, and am doing some research now.
