  1. Hi,

Planning to visit my mum for 3 weeks who is 85 in UK next year. She wants to see her grand daughter before kicking the proverbial bucket.

I wish to take my daughter (3 years old) with my Thai Gf. Obviously we're Not married. Daughter has my surname though. GF has good job with oil company so possible to get 6 month tourist visa ? I'm  thinking 6 month tourist visa because I'm actually still married /separated  and will be taking my adult daughter with us to the UK from that marriage (she has dual passports/nationality). Fiance visa I would think is kind of a no no being still legally married. A touch Complicated, but those with abilities of shedding light would be much appreciated. Cheers

  2. A UK financial adviser told me that because of my non UK resident status he won't be able to help me with investing etc. He's put me in touch with an English run firm here in Bangkok that operate under the UK pricing rules and regs. etc. I'll want to investigate a few more possibilities both here and the UK, so Can anyone recommend or give suggestions of any other trustworthy firms/individuals that deal with expats? cheers.

  3. Hello,

I wish to retire to Thailand after this covid mess dies down. Can anyone tell me the difference between the O and OA long stay/retirement visa. From what I've heard The O visa is obtained in Thailand and doesn't require health insurance. The OA visa is obtained in one's home country and the 400k THB IP 40k OP health cover is required. What would be the best option and can anyone shed light on this confusing issue. Thank you.

  4. So if necessary I could transfer my living expenses from a savings pot and that would solve any issues if the Thai authorities start cracking down on expats. Only monies earned and transferred to Thailand within the same tax year are taxable. I've never been asked anything at immigration or any authority for that matter so will see how things develop. Thanks for all the advice.

  5. Do I need to register for tax here in Thailand? From what I’ve read you are classed as a Thai tax resident if you reside here for more than 6 months a year. This includes rental income, pensions etc from abroad. I’ve never been asked about it in my 20 years living here. I’m on a marriage extension, I don’t work or own a company/business (no work permit), I just use transferwise to transfer living expenses from the UK(rental income) each month. I’ve been talking to a financial adviser in the UK concerning my UK assets and he’s saying he needs to discuss with my accountant about the tax system in Thailand. Other guys don’t seem to bother about it and say Thai authorities don’t care about old gits bringing in their pension money/income each month to spend and live here. I’ve also read that if you bring in money that wasn’t earnt in the current tax year (savings) you are exempt from Thai tax. I’m a bit confused and don’t want to deal with authorities here if I don’t have to. Anyone in a similar situation?

  6. I have an Adsense account in Thailand with payments set up to go to my wife's Kasikorn bank account. Payment is due soon and it says I need a US dollar account which isn't straight forward to set up (initial payments, regular deposits etc) No alternative payment method is available.906800799_Screenshot(412).png.e7bc5b3a5d5e5192dfa6203d67dc37f2.png I might have to close the account, take a loss and set up a new one with UK details.(adsense won't let you change location) Anyone with the same issues?

  7. I know this doesn't concern most as the tax exemption threshold is high and any tax payments have been deferred until next year due to covid. However, I might have an issue with a piece of vacant land we purchased next to our house. I did a video explaining more about my situation and am interested if anyone else received anything similar from the land office concerning land.

  8. I had a similar situation. My non o spouse visa extension ran out on June 14th. Phoned them up asking if I could do a 1 year extension with 400k baht seasoned for 2 months and they said yes. I do have a daughter here and they wanted birth certificates and her to sign papers too. Best bet is to phone them up and ask. Every office seems to be different.

  9. The 60 day extension of my non o spouse multi entry visa ran out on 17th June but I'm still okay until July 31 st under the visa amnesty. I was going to fly back to the UK before July 31 but my circumstances have changed. Is it too late to apply for a 1 year marriage extension ? I've had over 400k in a Thai bank account for over 2 months so that part isn't a problem. Cheers.

  10. Hi guys,

I will try to contact immigration but interested to see how you guys read my situation. My non o immigrant visa based on marriage ran out on 20th March. My final stamp was to run out on the 15th. April. So, On March 25th. I got a 2 month extension until June 17th( Before the emergency decree was to take effect). Am I covered by the new visa amnesty? Although my visa finished before the 26th March my extension is good until June 17th. Are extensions and visas one of the same? I Would like to stay beyond this date but don't want to be hit with a fine. Personally I think I fall between the cracks and will either have to leave before June 17th or apply for a Marriage extension which I can't do at the moment. Any recommendations welcomed. Cheers.

  11. I did it at Tak immigration yesterday.  60 day extension. IO lady bit of a Nazi. Needed two signed copies of.

    Passport photo page

    Visa and last stamp

    Wife's ID

    House book

    Kor ror 2

    Original marriage cert.(not signed)

    Copy marriage cert.

Tried to charge me 800 bht for not having TM 30. I use the app, she was satisfied when showed her last entry date in app.

Other people get asked for different things. My advice, take 2 copies of everything to be sure.
