A few years ago I learned that I have a half-brother, from my (Korean) mother's marriage at a young age to a Thai man who was also living in the US. The circumstances are a bit murky, but when the child was 2 the father took him to Thailand to be brought up by the grandparents.
My mom now wants to find her son. There's very little to go on: his name at birth (which might have been changed), his age, and his Bangkok address from the last time she spoke to the father (when the kid was 9). I've looked up the name and address in the obvious places, without any success.
I'm considering hiring someone to start knocking on doors (as I’m neither in Thailand nor a Thai speaker) and doing some government records searches. Do you have any ideas about how to proceed? Thanks!
