  1. I am still super confused about this. Do we need to have the work permit finished to apply for Non-B Visa or is it possible to obtain a non-B visa while we are waiting for the work permit to be processed?

We have all the correct paperwork, stamps, pictures and everything, welcoming letter, company finance papers.. the works.. but not yet a work permit. We called immigration authorities in Songkhla and they say I can just go to Penang with the papers and apply for Non-B but on the internet pages of the Penang embassy they tell me to bring a copy of the work VISA. But I am applying for the work VISA. Very confusing. Not sure what to make of this.

I moved my yellow housebook to another province, no problem.

Thanks! Yes, I presume that it should be possible to apply for relocation, so I am guessing (- as my time is running out -) that I should bring the paperwork to the Thai embassy in Penang and apply for Non-B there..
I regret now we didn't go with a VISA service company from the very beginning of the process. Frustrating for me, as I have a hard time getting to grips with this. But now it seems like most of the paperwork is done and checks out.

Last time in Chaeng Wattana they pointed out only two issues: that the position title was not the consistent through the paperwork (both "sales consultant" and "sales consultant foreign relations" were written) and that it was unclear if I was hired to work in Bangkok since many of the government documents are certified in Songkhla. The first issue was of course easily fixed, the second issue seems to be settled by the company hiring me in Songkhla rather than Bangkok. Having said that, everything seems like a surreal game of Bingo.. for all I know they will find something new to make into a problem on the next occasion. I just don't get why they cannot offer a detailed list of what is required, so we could have got this right on the firs visit.. I mean: "The pictures of you and the boss are wrong"!! What the *&#9("^ does that even mean? Why don't they inform on their public website that "the applicant and the boss hiring must be standing in the picture" ????

I am even confused with differentiating between a non-B visa and a Work Permit.. If a financially stable company wants to hire a foreign employee in Thailand, why is all these details needed for the Non-B visa unless the Non-B Visa and Work Permit is the same thing? Will this visa automatically grant me a work permit or is this a separate prosess..? very bewildering.

  3. Hi good people! I have been staying in Thailand for a couple of years on an ED-Visa, then done a couple of border runs and a got a tourist visa in Laos.

Currently I am in the process with registering as a worker in Thailand. My fiancé's dad runs a successful company in the food industry and has recently expanded and opened a Bangkok office/factory/workshop in addition to his Songkhla operation. He serves customers all over Thailand and South-East Asia and wants me onboard to help with sales and client contact both with his foreign and domestic clients.

We have started the process of getting documents ready for the Non-B and work visa process, but we are experiencing bureaucracy issues. Upon two visits to Chaeng Wattana we are given new issues to address and it feels kind of like moving in sirup. As we fixed the first issues pointed out with the application (the pictures of me and the boss of the company showed us sitting rather than standing (sic!) and so forth), we were given new problems to address on our second visit to Chaeng Wattana. Now the main problem seems to be that the company is registered in Songkhla, but I'd be working in the Bangkok office (where I currently live). Many of the current employees in the company is traveling between the south and Bangkok office and the company is in process of establishing the main office in Bangkok.

The HatYai firm that does finances/accounting for the company suggests that I am hired to the Songkhla office and register my address in the south. They also recommend me to bring the application papers and a secretary to Penang and apply for Non-B visa there, as it takes only 1-2 nights to get the Non-B application done there, rather than 15 days in Bangkok.

My issue is of course that I live in Bangkok and will be working here, hence my question is: Should I "fake" my residency and register my address at my father-in-laws house in the south and be hired as a worker in Songkla? Is it possible to register a Bangkok address later? I am bewildered by all the problems we meet at Chaeng Wattana, and I am afraid they will "discover" new issues with the Non-B/work Visa application if we continue to deal with the government there. I have just extended my tourist Visa and I am on my last 30 days extension and will need to leave Thailand if we cannot get this done soon.

Any help, advice and hints is much obliged, as my time is quickly running out..
