  1. In short, I haven’t seen or my Fiancee or son since August 24, 2019.

A combination of incomplete Visa documents, TB culture tests and finally a  global pandemic meant that we did not submit our settlement application until the 17th February 2020.

We were told it would take a maximum of 60 working days i.e. three months for the application to be completed.

We got an email from VFS on 15 April 2020 informing us that due to the pandemic our pending application would be placed on hold until further notice, we then received another email from VFS on 27th May 2020 stating...

    Dear Customer,

From 1 June, UK Visas and Immigration is beginning a phased resumption of services and our Visa Application Centre in Thailand / Bangkok will be open from the sames date.

Our records show that you have a pending application fro a UK Visa that is yet to be concluded. This application is now active again, so we invite you to reschedule your biometric appointment at your Visa Application Centre

If you previously uploaded documents for your appointment, you will also be able to view, delete or add to these.

This is confusing because her application has been pending since February, we have absolutely no reason to schedule another biometric appointment and her application is no longer viewable on the VFS ebsite.

I suppose my question is, has anybody out there who had a pending application, received their visa since VFS reopened on 1st June?

To say the past year has been torturous would be an understatement and I wish anybody else out there in a similar situation all the best.

  2. I’ve currently got a settlement visa undergoing application.

it was submitted on 17 February, and I will be hoping for a decision within the next eight weeks.

This is a UK settlement visa Application for my fiancé, Due to the current Situation with the coronavirus I was wondering if there is a time limit as to when the visa can be used.

We stated her travel date is 17 May 2020, if we wanted to push that back a month or two to see how this thing develops, would that be possible, or do you have to leave on the date you stated on your application?

    thanks

  3. Haven’t actually booked an airfare yet, I think somewhere in all the advice it tells you specifically not to.

Our dates are flexible, it won’t be an issue if it takes the full 90 days, I’m just concerned that I’ve put a date only 60 days after the meeting at trendy office takes place.

do you think it’s something they would refuse the visa for, had bad experiences before and feel they look for any reason.

  4. Hi everyone,

in the final stages of applying for a Fiancée visa, just wanted to ask if I need to include an Appendix 2 financial requirement form and include it in the application?

I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere on the checklist but obviously want to make sure I include it if it’s needed.

Second question, My fiancée’s appointment is 17th February and we have put her intended travel date to the U.k as 17th April, I’ve only just noticed that this type of visa can take up to 90 days to get a decision, how will this affect the application as it’s obviously only 60 days till our intended travel date.

    thanks.

  5. Took your advice Tony and cancelled that application, A1 now booked and will reapply once refund has hit my bank by which times she’ll have A1 certificate in hand.

I’ve applied successfully for 4 tourist visas for my partner in the past without any issues, the settlement visas are a different kettle of fish though.

Cant believe that if you answer No to the “Have you taken an approved English language test” question, it gives no advice that one needs to be taken on the checklist.

You’ve basically been refused before you even get to the appointment but still they let you book it.

£1500 a pop, license to print money!

Thanks for all the answers and advice.

Are you 100% sure you have applied for the correct visa on the website? A fiancée visa is a settlement visa. Both the TB test and and A1 English test (or better) are required. No NHS surcharge needed as has been mentioned.

I'm wondering if you have applied for a marriage visit visa where a language test is not required by mistake? The same as the TB test I would think.

Yes, it’s definitely a Fiancée visa,

one of the requirements on the checklist is “proof that you intend to marry within 6 months”

it also clearly states that a TB test certificate is required

Nowhere does it mention an A1 English language certificate which is why I’m a bit confused.

For the record and just to be safe, I’ve booked the earliest available test sitting on 24th October because once we are married and will then look to switch to a spouse visa I know it is 100% needed.

problem is that our appointment at VFU for fiancée visa is 18th October but again, their is no mention of this document on our checklist printout.

  7. Hello,

My partner and I have applied for a Fiancée visa to enter the UK and marry within 6 months.

on the checklist provided at the end of our application, I see no mention of the A1 English requirement and no option to pay the NHS surcharge.

The checklist clearly requires a TB test certificate, I’m just confused about the A1 and why their is no mention of it.

The visa fee has been paid and appointment at trendy office booked, however through endless trawling through websites it seems some say that the A1 certificate has to be submitted as part of the application.

can anyone advise me if this is the case, and also when and how do I pay the NHS surcharge?

Our appointment is in a couple of weeks and I’m starting to panic.

    thanks
