  1. Supprisingly the recipe for a successful cross cultural marriage here really isn't so complex. I would narrow it down to 2 basics.

    1) Open Mindedness on both sides

    2) Stay in one's class (for example, unless your the kind of guy that would be happy with a country bumpkin, semi literate farm hand or a stripper from your country don't go after one here. Find a woman with whom you have some common ground.)

One sound like a aristocrat. Dont go near thai plebs you will catch semi-literate.

    3 Dont be too racist.

  2. Interesting post. I suspect you either haven't been in Thailand long or you haven't traveled extensively here. Polite? Well-dressed?

Fact is that most Thais don't have the money to dress well.

Polite has regional and social variations.

What is polite behavior at a wedding in Issan would be decidedly unpolite at a wedding in the Oriental. Frankly I disagree with most of the content of your post as it points to only a very small subset of the population within very limited social circles.

    utter rubbish. all thai's???????? <deleted>

  3. What a joke that survey is!

Obviously no one has ever been to Hong Kong.

Here you get a comfortable air con taxi for a flag fall of HK$18 (B74),which covers most short trips, most drivers have a good knowledge of English and know their way around.

The very idea that they would not turn on the meter is unthinkable.

hong kong taxis are shit the fleet are from the 60,s and is a rip of compared to bangkok. 1 hour in air con taxi £3 in bangkok, 20min drive in hong kong £20 in a taxi..

  4. I have flew with qatar from edi-lon-doh-bangkok last year thought the planes where good.

The things i did not like was the long bus ride from the plane to the terminal at dohar. I have flew with gulf and emirates before and prefer dubai where they have a pub to chill. The smoking room at dohar is good you only have to stick you head in the door to get your fix, half way through my cig i was quite lite headed:lol:.

The in flight entertainment is so over rated, i just used it to listen to some music. A german man behind me went mad when they had to reset the IFE after 10 min (i dont knoe why) because he was watching some crap movie, then came the " call this a 5 fuc^%&^ star airline" routine:whistling:.

I am now looking to go direct fron london to bangkok.

  5. Thaivisa and other forum on Thailand are filled with some blatant racism towards Thais. It is often seen as just having a bit of fun or "airing their view" on how to inprove their country. Dont worry it is just a bit of colonialism.

    My little empire

  6. Has happend a few times

Once went into 7-eleven to stock up, after paying i started to make my way back to the flat when i hear someone running up behind me. It was the 7-11 guy and he returned my phone card i left on the counter, the pone card was not worth much but still worth a 300m run.:jap:

I was out visiting a temple when the same thing happend. A guy ran up behind me and told me i forgot my shades that i left behind, my shade where worth £90:jap:

When traviling to pai on motorcycle i was stopping of up the hills to take a rest, take in the view and having a cig. Cars where stopping to see if i needed help or petrol :jap: , never seen these things happen to me in london in all my years.

  7. :D Should of done it years ago, will they do it???

The police are a liability to the nation, they did nothing about the ocupations (red and yellow) of bangkok. So you get the army doing crowd control on their own citiizens. Thats why i can see this situation happing again.

They should do somthing about the court system while they are at it. :)

  8. I have been observing the posts here and there is a disturbing trend.

First, there is disproportion of yellow and red supporters. Is that truly representative or are the red supporters getting banned from the forum?

Second, the reds are generally stating their position with limited emotion in their posts. The yellows are quite vicious and emotionally calling for a massacre. The yellows are saying that the reds are killing and are being destructive. Destructive yes, but killing? One solider killed and if I have my facts correct it was by friendly fire.

Third, I can see why the thais are off the scale emotional about their posts but what excuse do you have as a farang? The thai government doesn't care about you. If you leave, they could care less. Another farang will replace you. The thai people may want you here but only until your money is gone. You may say "I made this my home so I care about thailand". That doesn't change the fact that they don't care about you.

There is a tremendous amount of unreasonable behavior here and I beginning to think that the farangs displaying unreasonable behavior had to come to thailand because they couldn't control themselves in their own country.

    so what are you?

    A newbie staying neutral.

    Welcome to TV expat8.

  10. GBSwales wrote "Wake up Thailand - every government you have had for the last 20 years, including the generals, treat you better than the Chinese treat their people and many other similar countries aroung the world

Do you remember about the poll-tax and how your people got so violence against Mrs T policy?

What you foreigners don't know is what kind of activities they run behind us all. Let's me ask you this one question! Who do you think is the mafia here in Thailand.

    1.Do thais pay council tax?

    2 the police.

  11. I always try to wear a helmet but must admit i have gone without driving around the gates.

The main reason one should wear helmet is there is a lot of drunks driving about here. You can be the best driver in the world but you still have to watch out for those drunks on bikes and in cars. An example is in the villages where they never ware helmets because "i am just going to the local market" thinking. My farther-in-law who is 80 still does this he was out riding his in the village bike when a drunk nutter on a bike took him clean out. He was in the ICU and need stiches in his leg arm and head. His bike was not insured we left our honda wave (which was insured) and helmets at his house but was not used. The guy who took him out was to poor to get money off.

also seen an 10 year old driving standing up on the bike. no helmet

    Sorry for the spellinggg

  12. I hope the monsoon come's and wash away all the scum of the street.

    Couldn't resist ...

    Spot on.

They should clear the steets this has got way out of hand now. All of them yellows and reds. If they can't let them fight it out between them, bunch of kids.

when i was staying in san kamphaeng (taskin town) the main concern of the thai people i came across was the loans the goverment was trying get.

I have now heard that the 1.4-trillion-baht Thai Khem Khaeng stimulus programme is to be withdrawn .

  13. Me and misses are doing her application for British citizenship and we have a question about SECTION 5: REFEREES AND IDENTITY.

One of them has to be of professional standing I have checked the guide and I have come across these jobs with professional standing.

Engineer (with professional qualifications), dose this include plumbers?

    Also

Personal Licensee Holders, will this include SIA security licences?

    Help will be much appreciated.

    Peace D.
