They've been doing that occasionally at the Ekkamai bus station and around Thonglor for years. Yeah it does happen and people do have to pay if they have fake viagra or something on them. Or even worse, a joint. Never heard about cameras being searched for porn, but it wouldn't surprise me as it is technically illegal so they could extort you for it. I have been randomly stopped before in Bangkok and searched but had nothing on me so they just let me go on my way.
Yes I have been searched twice coming out of the Ekkamai bus terminal, last time about 2 years ago.
They searched everything, checked passport, visa, even checked my camera.
I had a work visa at that time and my Thai wife was with me, she told me (through the police chatter to each other) they were looking for small amounts of ganga in tourist back packs. There was a couple of other guys being searched at the same time, looked like older long term residents, one of them was going off his tree! Not sure what happened as I left them too it.

Who said anything about sex? Maybe the woman just could not afford to look after the girl. If I was living here full time I would like to take care of a young girl on the verge of puberty. I might be able to guide her in a way that would be beneficial for her in the future.
Can't be serious
Something really creapy about these posts.

I have had my 150 up to 110 but I am also a big guy, this was on a fairly straight piece of road. Getting to 100 no problem after that it is slow accelaration. Neal did you get the variators yet
Moe,
Not yet they were released in first week of Jan. I'm waiting for the Zoomer -X/Scoopy (imminent) so I can get some in same shipment
The Zoomer has been on the market for a couple of months now, why are you waiting for one?

My son is 6 and he goes to a local Thai school but he can speak fluent Thai & English.
Next term he will go to an international or bording school but just for his 123's & ABC's the local school is fine for kindergarden and year 1 or 2. He loves his local school and the teachers.
I agree with other posters here, I would not send my Son to local schools above 7 years old but under 7 they are fine.
Can your kids speak Thai as well as English?

Can't give exact figures as my wife sorts it but this past year my boy was 9yrs old and we paid approximately 60,000bt + uniforms, books in April then mid term break in October another 60,000bt. Can't remember a significant difference in his previous year. We take him home every 2 weeks, 1600hrs Fri till 1600hrs Sun. Don't know about every week you would have to talk to them. The master speaks good English so that's no problem.
Thank you very much for this info!
I will check them out when I get back to Thailand next month.
Once again, thanks a lot.

Sorry, are u on about Daruna or Sarasit.
I'm asking about Sarasit, i'm working in Cambodia at the moment so can't go to the school for info.
I'll be back in Kancha in early March and will visit the school then.
Shame their website is in Thai only.
What do they charge per term for 7 year old?
-
He now goes to Sarasit in Ban Pong, its a boarding school and he loves it.
Hi Blackjack,
Thanks for the info about schools near Kancha.
I looked at the school website but could'nt find anything on school fees. My son will be year 2 next term and looks perfect for him!
Could I please bother you with a couple of questions?
What are the school fees per term for 7 year old boy and does the school allow students to board week days only?
Thanks for your help.

Sorry to Hijack but....
I am wanting one of them old small tractors, retailing about 40,000 baht, just to cut my grass and plough 6 /7 rai or so every now and again, just to keep the weeds down.It wouldn't be used for heavy work, anything to lookout for on these old machines?
Doubt very much if you can find anything for 40k!
Cheapest small tractor I came accross when I was shoping around was 120k for a 20 year old that hardly ran!
Good luck though

We sent our boy to Daruna, from 3yr to 6yr was good but after that felt it was not doing enough, though i do know people who are still happy with it.
Thank you very much blackjack, where did you send your boy after Daruna?

My rule of thumb...
Never get in taxi's that hang around hotel or clubs, they are taxi mafia and always hail a cab from the street (never been ripped of this way).

I love my new PC 150 but there are a couple of things that annoy me.
When I ease off the accelerator quickly the engine tends to back fire a little, is this normal?
Mines does it a bit when cold...not really a back-fire...just a couple of pops. I just put it down to the fuelling because it's fine when warm
No mine does it all the time, especially when warm!
I'm out of the country right now but I'll take it back to the dealer when I get back.
-
As a backfire needs air it will be a small air leak between the throttle body and the cylinder or in a rubber tube if there is one connected between the throttle body and the cylinder. Or it could be that the airflow sensor in the Throttle body is dirty or faulty.
As it is a 150 I will assume it doesn't have many Kms as it could be a dodgy spark plug. Install a new plug as they are cheap.
If you are the handy type take the plastic off and with the engine idling (higher vacuum) squirt the connection between the throttle body and the engine liberally with WD-40. If there is a leak you will be able to see where the WD-40 is being sucked in.
Or take it to the dealer and if you are like me use your best pantomime Thai to explain the pop-bang-pop.
Thank you very much for that!!!
I'll take it back to the dealer.
Thanks again.

The other thing is a slight rattle in the front end.
Otherwise I love the ride and power. I intend to do some ugrades soon including new shocks and seat.

Nice!!
Say....do you have trouble changing from forward to reverse gear?
Sometimes I need to juggle the gears around, pump the clutch, to get the thing into reverse!
Other than that, really good tractor for it's size.
The synchro shift lever on the steering column moves easily and I have never had any problems with it. No grinding of gears and no pumping the clutch. It is the reason I bought the Yanmar rather than the Kubota. It's really handy for working in small rice paddies and when using the dozer blade. Forward to reverse with a single easy move of the lever.
Thanks for that, I'm going to get a tractor mechanic to have a look at it.
Other than that, really good, handy machine to have around, great for slashing!

Will someone please ban this tosser!
David, good on you mate for having a go.
My wife and I bought a farm in Kancha a couple of years ago and I absolutely love it! It takes a bit of getting used to and some adjustment that's all.
Love your posts

My son is in year one and attends the local school in Wang Yen about 20 k's out of town. His first language is english and now he is speaking almost fluent Thai, he loves it and all his mates are there but next term I want to enrole him in a private school in Kan.
Has anyone out there got their kids in school in Kanchanaburi? any good recommendations?
Any help most appreciated.

I live in Thailand but work in other countries.
Been in Phnom Penh the last 14 months, Maldives before that, Qatar before that, Koh Samui before that, Muscat before that....
I'm in construction. Like another poster said, I go where the money is.

Disgusting behaviour by disgusting people.
Plain and simple.
Yes yes...totally agree!!
We should leave this disgusting place with their disgusting people and go back home to law and order.

The price for good service? No it is not, it is the price for actually doing their job and not screwing with you. The public servants receive a decent wage, job security, have a good pension plus freebies on flights, power etc. So you are paying extortion so you can get a smile and not be messed ariound, not sure how one views that in a positive light. The burearcracy are parasites that use the power the government gives them to extort money from both us and expecially the Thais, they are a leech on the working population, and contribute nothing what so ever to society or the ecomomy.
Pay it for convenience if you wish but please don't try and put a positive spin on institutional extortion.
Really? local governmet counter staff get "free flights" and a "decent salary"?

Oh come on....100 bht!!
Whats that, $2,50 or something?
You're not living in England now you know.
Think yourself lucky Thailand doesn't have the same visa laws as your country.
Think of the extra money as "VIP service charge".
