  1. Reply I received this morning from Transferwise to my request to tag my account to only use Bangkok Ban

    Greetings from TransferWise!

Unfortunately, there is no way we can guarantee that the payment can/will be sent out via Bangkok Bank.

In cases where we can't send the transfer via Bangkok Bank, our system will automatically route it via another available partner, to avoid any delays.

As this is a automated process, we can't stop the transfer from going out.

Thanks for your understanding p- Do let us know if you have any further questions, we are happy to help.

    Have a great day!

  3. Today, I made two further transfers using TW, rang them before paying them the cash, and they messaged me saying both transactions had been tagged in favour of Bangkok Bank; also, that for future transfers my profile had been tagged in favour of Bangkok Bank, but that I should still call them before payment, confirming the tag will be applied. Both transfers will be paid tomorrow after 2pm. I will update tomorrow and when I get a reply from Kasikorn Bank

Sorry to trouble you but what phone number should I use to call them ( London?) to confirm tagging has been actioned I do not see any phone numbers on their internet information.

    Many thanks

Me also. Transferred using Transferwise for about 9 months no problem . July 1 /2 also for me a local transfer via Kasikorn. I then made a Swift transfer costing 2,200 baht more in charges so I am not happy with this.

Has anyone tried to send funds back from their Thai bank to their originating Bank in the UK. I have looked on internet and it appears you can only send funds if you work here and have paid taxes. The exception is if you sell your condominium you can return those funds I believe

    People use deemoney

I checked Deemoney but they seem to have had a problem with the UK and Europe and are now looking for a new partner so currently not available

  6. My Kasikorn Bank records the Transferwise deposit as a Smart Credit not as an International transfer as it works using a two transfer system First transfer UK bank to Transferwise London. Second transfer Transferwise Bangkok to Kasikorn Pattaya. Has anyone yet been to Immigration to see if this is acceptable or will the Kasikorn Bank need to confirm it is an international transfer. This is for the requirement to deposit minimum 65,000 baht each month per the new requirements.

  7. Hi Anthony5

    Just read your comments.

I had the 14/1 service until recently was reasonable but I think expensive. Fairly reliable and speeds usually over 10Mb down. Like you I flatly refused the Fibre very expensive.

I now have the 3BB service which is 15/1 and costs 900 +tax also a reliable service and good speed. Will probably go for their fibre service when available at 1200Baht for 30/3 speed

My location Natheekarn Park View on Reservoir Road towards Siam Country Club Road.

    Hope this helps

  8. Mobi

My BTV connection same as yours. Found out they were repacing parts on the posts outside Natheekarn Park View Estate and they were there for 2 days sometimes 4 vehicles. They told me that all of the estate was affected.

Today the speed is back to normal for me. One connection 10 by .5 now seems to be 10 by 1.0 and my second connection which was 7M by 0.5M is now 7.0m by 1.0 m.

Hope you are back to normal this morning

  9. ...

I have been trying to confirm whether the Immigration office for Chonburi In Jomtien is open or closed this week.

I have tried phoning many times but no reply so it may be other Immigration offices are closed not only in Bangkok .

Still hoping someone can confirm for me

i confirm the office for chonburi in jomtien is open (and busy), i get my 30 days extension 45 minutes ago, just back home from the office (crowded more than usual)

anyway, this is the office phone number 038252751

Thanks for info I go to get my Retirement visa renewal tomorrow I hope.

That was the number I have been trying for the last 2 days perhaps 15-20 calls no reply

    Again thanks for info

  10. addressing the visa issue would be a good thing for anyone that has info, please post!

If you plan to do your extension in Bangkok, you can not do it this week.

  11. Same here At Mabprachan near Siam CC  maxnet Premier  this morning Bangkok 49/no service line drops about 10 times in 10minutes Now at nearly 9.00am a little better  Very poor for 2-3 weeks for me also

  12. I also am a non techie.

I have the standard Maxnet Premier 2Mb/1Mb service.

Could someone in the know advise me about the advantage or otherwise of a fixed ISP versus a dynamic ISP.

I noticed that on the web for TTT/3BB on the premier service there are fixed ISP either 1 or 4 on offer for an increase in the monthly charge.

What does the fixed ISP give in terms of speed and reliability over the dynamic or again is it a question of luck if you get any improvement.

Would a fixed ISP be better at 2Mb/1MB than a dynamic at 3Mb/1Mb.

Thanks in advance for any information

  13. I also have TT@T maxnet 2mb premier service @ 1090 per month.

This morning my speeds also using speedtest were

    Bangkok 1.83 / 0.64 down/up

    Los Angeles 2.22 / 0.26

    London 0.08 / 0.28

    Frankfurt 0.98 / 0.35

As I use connections to the UK most of the time I would be very interested to know why the UK speeds in my case are so slow.

This started about 1 week ago. Up till then similar readings to Bangkok down but slower up.

  14. i am using Maxnet premier 2 and have for the last 4/5 days been unable to view the detail of my emails on gmail.

I transferred gmail to POP3 as recommended above using Thunderbird and it works very well. Thanks for that info.

My other email address is [email protected] which is also a google email but I cannot find any way to put this onto the Thunderbird system eg what is the pop as pop3.thaivisa.com does not seem to work.

Anybody else have this problem and have found a solution

    Many thanks

    Tony

  15. I had the surgery about 2 years ago performed by Dr Nattawat when he worked at BPH. From memory the cost per eye was roughly 40k baht for the surgery and 10k baht for the lens. My insurance company covered the cost of the surgery but not the cost of the lens.

I had the operation some 2 weeks apart and like others after some 3 weeks I had the ' floaters ' in each eye. Now 2 years later I have accepted the floaters a little but they are still an annoyance especially driving at night when the headlights of oncoming cars look like snow cystals.

Dr Nattawat recommended wearing specs with minimum correction and this has helped a little.

In spite of this I am pleased I had the operation when I did as the cataracts would almost certainly have got worse over the years.

Hope this is of interest to anyone considering this operation.

  16. I have to collect my renewed British Passport from the embassy in Bangkok next week as well as my confirmation of pension letter which this year I am getting from the embassy as I will be there anyway. Normally I get the letter from the Honorary Consul in Pattaya.

I had intended to go to Suan Phlu to get my visa transferred and then at the same time hopefully get another 12 month extension of stay. It will be my 13th consecutive extension and all of these have been done at Suan Phlu where my file is.

I reside in the Pattaya area.

Does anyone know if the immigration offices outside Bangkok can make the transfer of stamp from the old passport to the new passport or can this only be completed by Bangkok Immigration.

Many thanks in advance for replies.

    Tony
