  1. They could easily be not concerned and just tell you not to do it again. Or they could easily stick you in an immigration cell with thirty other lawbreakers until they can have you deported at your expense and banned from the country. Guess it depends on the mood of the person who catches you. However, you won't know until it happens.

     

    I guess you've already decided to take the risk - just so as you know that all of the above can happen.

  2. I read that I will need 20,000 THB to show at the border checkpoint in order to qualify for visa exemption.

     

    Just to be clear, that's 20 x 1,000 THB notes, not foreign currency (600 EUR), not a recent foreign bank statement showing a balance in excess of this, and not a physical credit/debit card, right?

     

    Is this a new thing? I arrived visa exempt for a couple of weeks in 2016 and they just put the stamp in my passport, didn't ask me to show any cash, or evidence of how I would be supporting myself, or any other documentation...

     

    Is it really necessary? 600 EUR equivalent is a lot of cash to be carrying around with oneself whilst on holiday.
