  1. I really don't get the reactions on tv.... You were all moaning about stupid holidays and say that people may not travel.

Now they do as you all said, and again you're complaining. Is it ever good?

At least they give 1 month notice. As I know Thailand, this could also been done last minute. Whoever pays the most expensive way to travel and pay hotel already in advance are just stupid under these circumstances.

These "businessmen" are misguided if they think for one minute that the Thai Government will prioritize them and their families whilst hard working Thais cannot get vaccinations currently, and some have to wait many months. The elitist attitude of these people is unbelievable! if they have any bussiness skills at all they should be talking to their respective embassies and trade missions!

I understand that Thais are first because this is Thailand. But some foreigners who live here a long time, should be seen as Thai. And they could be the first who registered, but it looks as if they are first waiting for every single Thai to get vaccinated, while some haven't even registered. And if 100% of them won't register, then neither foreigners can get the vaccine.

Tourists or people who stay here just a short while, they can wait. But people who live here and pay tax shouldn't have to wait because of the size of their eyes and the amount of melanin in their skin...

But like my other posts, I honestly think I don't need the vaccin, but they keep saying No Vaccine No Travel or whatever is coming later. They really want everyone to be vaccinated, so then also vaccinate everyone instead of nitpicking about who can go first. First to sign up should be first.

    So much misinformation everywhere.

Foreigners have no choice but to pay Social Security when working in Thailand. (Well - I had no choice!)

More than 1,500 foreigners vaccinated in Koh Samui yesterday - many were people on retirement visas.

Thats Koh Samui. So how about foreigners not living in either Phuket or Koh Samui?

  4. I guess now Phuket Sandbox will get 0 tourists.

My gf just read in Thai news that whenever you want to stay with a girl in a hotel, you have to show a marriage certificate. Even if it's your girlfriend for over 10 years or something, they won't allow you to stay together.

So if there were still some people willing to come, it might be the ones who go the extra mile to find a girl here. I guess now they won't come either. ????

The only disturbing news I am getting from friends in Bangkok is that they are coming up against a wall of " Thais first " which I find ridiculous.

If that is the case it is because of the trickle down effect of xenophobic and nationalistic verbal assaults on TV from certain people in government.

It needs reporting to Embassies if this is the case, as this will be taken very seriously and passed on up the chain to Western leaders, who are supplying South East Asia with technology,  science and surplus vaccines.

I came up with the idea to let my school register everyone for the vaccine. They've told me it's a good idea. We were one of the first to register, and everyone got vaccinated except the foreign teachers.

Nowadays I hear from people they registered not even a week ago and already got their appointment. And I'm still waiting...

  6. Update on my registration:

After being rejected because information was missing such as phone number and religion, they finally signed me up for this week.

Now got to hear that I've been put at the back of the line, because... reasons.

Imagine what the news headlines will say if I spread Covid now. I work at a school, so I'm part of the group that they want to be vaccinated first. My whole school was able to, but they picked me out of the list and literally said NO.

  7. I'm a teacher. Teachers may sign up for the vaccine already. I've got my school to do it, which was about to do this only for the Thai teachers at first.

Like usual, you've got to jump through multiple hoops. If you think you've got enough docs, they come up with more docs you've got to bring. Now they want to have my degree, because apparently your degree affects the way the vaccine works in your body...

Reading various reports the vast majority of detected spread in Phuket and around the country is by Thai people

Didn't they say something similar about Thai people a day or 2 ago? Do as we say or face a fine.

Now they do it with foreigners. Calm down. Next time they'll say the news in Thai and you'll complain why they didnt translate it for foreigners.

By the way... The vast majority of detected spread is by Thais in Thailand, because... You know... this is.... Well.... Thailand.

With what you say, you behave as if foreigners can't spread this at all.

  9. But who would like to come?

I'd like to go on a holiday too, but when I see how far one has to go to have a normal holiday, I won't bother.

People abroad will see Phuket = Thailand, Thailand has covid now. So how can they be sure they will be allowed back home?

What I mostly don't get is how, with at the time 300 cases or so, we have been told not to go anywhere and stay where we were. And now they are trying to get people from places where the number of people is x times that of Thailand and it's all ok.

I see no problem in giving the vaccine and tests free to one's own people -- and 'foreigners' having to pay!

And B500 isn't much -- not many beers!  Stop moaning!

It's more about being fair towards people who live here and see their future here. So they hope to be treated equally.

I understand to charge tourists as they never paid taxes or any other things here. But people who work here and can prove to have worked here for many years, should at least get the same treatment.

If it's about money, it'd be hypocrite as the average foreigner makes more with literally the same job as a Thai, eg. teachers. But for most people this is just about fairness.

In the Netherlands now all schools have selftests for Covid for the teachers and they have to test themselves 2 times a week. Why not possible here in THailand????

If only there was a place just like the Netherlands, isn't it?

I wonder which place in the world could be just like the Netherlands.... Oh wait, I know.... It's the Netherlands!

If it's so much better there, I'd recommend going there when possible.
