What office were you doing a appointment for. As far as I know none of them ask your for the date your report is due.

    Cheers for the form link.

It was was for Muangthong Thani

Its asked for the counter / objective - 90 days

visa expire date - I presume this is the date my 90 days is due, not the actual date my visa expires

appointment date - after entering the visa date, there was no option to choose any other date than why my 90 day was due.

  2. Not sure if this is the right place to post, so happy to move if needed.

I started at a new international school this summer, new school for me and the school is also new.

I've been teaching here for 13 years, at another international school and at a university school.  Each of them has taken tax and social security from my pay check.

The new school hasn't taken anything for the first 2 months that I've been there.

Regarding tax, I know you can do it yourself, especially if you want to optimise various tax breaks etc..  but usually the school will pay it on your behalf as standard, correct?

Are they legally bound to do this? Or at least register your presence at the school to the local tax office?

Social security, I was told that as I the school provides private insurance there is no requirement or need to also facilitate social security.

I have had private medical before but still paid social and would like to continue paying, as I have built up a long record which will eventually pay out, albeit a limited amount.

My understanding is that all employers must register new employees with the social and start paying within 30 days of the employee start date.

I have also read that social is not mandatory for private school teachers. I this correct?

Also, if I want to continue to contribute do I "need" to do it myself, or should the school organise it at my request.

A lady in the office gave examples of 2 fairly well known schools who she says do not pay social for any of their teachers.

    Where do I stand ?

I want to be paying tax and social, but the school seem ambivalent.

    What are their legal obligations

I know these things can be considered a warning flags that the school is not all it seems, but I like the kids etc... so if I can get this sorted Id be happy to say, otherwise I will consider my options.

Thanks in advance for any input.

  3. Thanks for the reply.

I am a bit confused wether you are talking about just the WP or the visa and WP.

    Just so I am clear:

    1. The new employer applies for a new work permit by obtaining a work permit application approval letter.

    2. My current employer must give me a termination letter stating my last day of work.

    3. When the termination letter is handed to immigration the new employer applies for a new extension of stay, with the WP approval letter and other documents.

    4. My old employer's WP is then cancelled and a new one issued for my new employer.

    5.  Then my new visa is ratified.

    Am I reading this correctly?

  4.

I have a non o visa and wp through my school.

Is it possible to move schools at this time and therefore get a new visa?

My understanding has always been when you change employers and your current visa is voided you leave Thailand, come back on a 30 day tourist visa and start the new employers visa process.

Obviously at the moment that is not possible and even when international travel opens again, you will need covid certificates, (government?)  14 day quarantine and who knows what else.

Is it possible or even realistic to think about changing employers and visas at this time / for the foreseeable?

  6. My usual, contracted school hours are 7.45 until 4.30

My school have issued a decree that from tomorrow all staff, Thai and non Thai must start work at 7.00 because the director is displeased that some staff, Thai and non Thai, are regularly late.

I know it may sound a small matter, but legally can they do this, can it be imposed /enforced?

The majority of staff are never late but being punished.

I know - if you don't like it find somewhere else, and I'm sure many will.

i just wonder how common this is and how others might have reacted / dealt with the situation.
