  1. Heres the reply we got from Thai Twitter. Trouble is on the Pass application I can't see anywhere to put the second part of reply plus I don't believe there are any vax travel certificates for 12 year olds in UK.

'If the vaccination regulations in your country set that children aged 12 years only require 1 dose, then your child is considered fully vaccinated. If you have any further questions about regulations for travelling, please contact the Thai embassy in your country for advice'

would if I could get them on the phone...

'Kindly prepare the document indicating that children in your country are required only one dose of Pfizer to present to the authorities if they ask'

Might try and do the form using my vax cert twice and see what happens

  2. Anyone any experience yet of whether the 7 days blue zone means you have to stay in initial arrival blue zone after negative PCR or you can do the some or all of it in another blue zone.

Most international flights go into Bangkok, this would mean if you have a child 12-18 that hasn't had 2 jabs you can't fly on to Chang Mai, Phuket, Samui, Trat etc until after you have stayed in Bangkok for 7 days. Going to put a lot of families off if thats the case, we certainly don't want to waste 7 days of our 20 days hanging around in Bangkok.

  3. Similar issue, in UK, my daughter is 12 and has had one vaccination as is all that is allowed for 12-15 year olds in UK, however in order to only do 1 day quarantine it seems everyone over 12 years has had to be double vaxed. Not only is that not possible here but the NHS does not issue Covid Certs to 12 year olds so you can't download anything for the application.

OK so that leaves staying within the blue zone for 7 days, children under 18 travelling with parents are exempt for the vaccination requirement as long as staying in Blue Zone. It seems you arrive BKK, blue zone and you can move around outside in blue zone proving your PCR Thai test has come back negative, but we want to go to Ko Chang on day 3, what is unclear is what 'travel restricted in Sandbox Area' for 7 days means. It also says must stay in a SHA+ hotel in blue area for 7 days. So Bangkok is Blue, Ko Chang is Blue, both our hotels are SHA + are we allowed on day 3 to fly from BKK to Trat (blue) and on to Ko Chang or do we have to stay in the same hotel, in the same blue zone for 7 days.

  4. People are dying for the right to air this utter tripe, there comes a time when common sense has to overcome so called 'rights'. This is no Salman Rushdie book its just utter crap, I can understand why devout muslims are pissed at this, it's embarrsaingly bad, and has IMO been produced for no other reason than to create mischief and promote disharmony and mayhem. Get real people, real people are dying and it ain't doing the cause of harmony and understanding between all races and religions any favours

  5. Why are they in a panic? Those who died have their previous diseases other than H1N1.

There are more deaths with other diseases in other countries, such as dengue fever.

The main concern about this one is the kill ratio that it currently appears to have. Common Flu is far more widespread for the moment, and therefore appears to kill a lot more, and like Dengue fever therefore appears to be of greater concern. The thing is that it seems that more people that catch this one are dying (some stats have it as high as 5% whilst common flu is below 1%). Therefore preventing the spread (or attempting too) is a rational step. The WHO are saying that its too late to prevent it though, so it does seem like this is a reaction after the horse has not only bolted, but has made it to the next field, mated, raised a championship winning foal and is now off to glue factory.

Do you have a link to those stats, Nowhere have I heard that 1 in 20 people are dying from swine flu or 1 in 100 from normal flu, if that was the case the streets would be littered with bodies!

  6. If you can't transfer it out from your bank for whatever reason (it is converted here to sterling, better rate anyway), if that fails you are actually allowed to take out up to $20,000 or currency equivalent (but not in Thai Baht go to one of the big money changers to change the baht to £'s), out of Thailand without declaring it, however at the UK end if you are carrying more than 10,000 Euros or equivalent you have to complete a form, goggle UK Customs Cash Allowance for the form and further details, that is of course per person, always take supporting documents with you just in case there is a problem.

  7. I live on Thonburi Side of the river, Friday night thought great I'll be able to get the train over the river, it was packed a bit like Tokyo rush hour and this is at 9.30pm, We get over the River to the first stop, I get off as do seemingly thousands of others (maybe a slight exageration), I'm thinking Wow didn't realise so many people living over here would be using it this is going to be a big earner for the BTS, had to smile though when only about 10 people exited the station with me, everyone else just crosssed to the other platform to go back again. I guess since it has taken so long to complete it deserves it new found 'pilgrimage' status.

  8. We recently had a baby daughter here in Thailand(6 week old now). I have a Non Imm B but don't work here, My Japanese Wife has a Non O, both were issued in the UK, We plan to be in Japan in July for about 7 days. I pick up the baby's UK passport tomorrow at the UK Embassy. I understand that until our baby leaves Thailand she can stay here without a visa, what I want to know is once we leave Thailand do we have to get a Non O for her too. My Japanese wife lived in the UK for 20 years before coming here. Past experience has been it's a nightmare trying to get a visa in Japan to come here, my wife tried before and they wanted all sorts of stuff like proof of no criminal record, proof of income etc etc just for a tourist visa, not having lived there for 20 years it made it too difficult to sort out, whereas in the UK it was relatively simple. My concern is that by leaving Thailand and going to Japan we will find ourselves in a situation where we can't get the same visa for our daughter as we have, we will return and get our 90 day stamps and she will have a 30 day tourist stamp meaning she has to do visa runs every month.

Does anyone have any information on this.

    Thanks in advance, Papi

  9. Thanks Trajan for that information. Does this mean that because we had 51% of the voting rights there and 1 voted against, meaning we didn't have over 50% of the condo's voting rights in agreement that we are ineligible to have that EGM within 15 days to revote.

Another bit of clarification please, the resolution to increase the CAM fees had 80% of those present in agreement, this I believe still stands, in your view am I correct?

The resolution to change the Rules and Regulations was simply to comply with the law, we altered nothing except the parts that have changed under the amendments to the condominium act, since the law will always take precedence over the condominium 'laws' am I correct in thinking that vote will still stand.

The issue of the psm levy to effect repairs, much of this was essential repairs and painting, only one section of that budget was to change anything (remove a driveway roof that prevented fire engine access), am I correct in thinking the only bit we would need over 50% voting rights to agree is the 'carrying out a construction that is a change' part?

    Thanks for your input

  10. Thanks for the post, however I am pretty sure your figures are based on the condominium law prior to the new amendments

If i am not wrong, changing CAM fees requires 75% agreement of total owners (not only those present in a meeting) and appointment of new juristic manager has to be over 25% agreement of total owners.

We just had an AGM 2 months ago. Building has 24 (almost equal) units. New committee has to be voted in by 4 units owners and manager by 7 unit owners.

Change in monthly fees has to be approved by 18 unit owners. Rules on renovation matters by 13 unit owners.

Except procedures that have to be observed for accounting matters in an AGM, the other matters can be short cut (without any meeting) by written documents and getting unit owners to sign their approvals on them.

  11. 3 points that were voted on at our AGM have been queried relating to what the law now says regarding % of votes needed to approve a motion.

Our understanding along with the outgoing Juristic Person was that on certain motions, ie changing the juristic Person, increasing the CAM fees and placing a psm levy to cover repairs and renovations (includes changing the original layout of a structure on the property but not the main building) required 50% of the voting rights to attend the AGM and a majority of those who attended voting in favour.

We duly voted wth the overwhelming majority of those attending agreeing the motions. We had just over 50% of the entire voting rights present, of those around 90% were in agreement.

However after the votes I received a note from the incoming mananagment company (new juristic person) that to vote on those matters required at least 50% of the voting rights being in favour not just those in attendance. I have reviewed all the info on here, translations and interpretations of the act etc and can find nowhere anything that says they are correct.

Would appreciate any clarification on this. Thanks Papi

  12. I have the Foreign Exchange Cert from when I transferred a large sum into Thailand, at the time it was 70.8 bht to the £, I now want to transfer back to the UK, will I be allowed to convert the Thai baht received amount into £ equivalent (now about 35% more because of the weaker £), or only the same £ amount I brought in: ie bring in £100,000 would have equated to 7,080,000 bht, convert to £ at current rate = £137,465, will I be expected to pay witholding tax simply because of the exchange rate fluctuation?

  14. I don’t have the answers but I worked today on updating the Condominium Act with the latest amendments and attach a copy. See if you find in there what you are looking for.

I still have to review it and double-check all footnotes before I finalise it.

    Maestro

Hi Maestro, thanks for the work on this, I tried to download from your link a couple of times and it says the file is damaged, don't know if this is the actual file or a ThaiVisa link problem

  15. We have a new born baby (6 days old and gorgeous).

I bought a microwaveable baby bottle steamer, my wife is trying to breastfeed but encountering some problems so on occassion we have had to give the baby formula to stop her dehydrating. Trouble is with the microwave steamer when you take it out everything is so hot and theres so much steam it turns the place into a sauna, plus if you only want to use one bottle they say the items sterilised will stay sterile for 3 hours as long as you don't open it...which says to me once you've taken one bottle out the rest isn't going to be sterile long.

Anyway what I want to know, and I've tried both Paragon and their supermarket to no avail (I was sold something for washing vegetables in one instance and offered some electric hob cleaner in another) is where can you get baby bottle sterilising tablets, or fluid, like Milton in Bangkok, just think it would be so much easier to have bottles soaking in the stuff which you can remove and use when you need them.

    Any help appreciated.

  17. Global Hotel Supplies Sukhumvit Soi 12 www.ghs.co.th they've got them with a good 6 inch deep mattress, costs around 4,600 baht.

Hi Kevc - does the Global Hotel Supplies sell things individually or one must buy in bulk?

I had no problem buying individually, this is a great bed for guests but I have to say the matress is FIRM, I emailed my interest, they got a sample in (about 3days), went and had a look, bought it (paid cash on delivery) and they delivered the next day. The price originally mentioned was excluding VAT

  18. Yesterday, 19th March, after years of 'coming soon' I took these photos of a BTS train crossing the river beyond Saphan Taksin, It was only a test run but is probably the first time the skytrain has ever been seen on this side of the river, hopefully it will open up the area and ease access for those who live here. Meant to start operation I believe in May ..or...or..
