  1. Have to agree with the earlier posts, this one was definitely a ladyboy. Look at the size of those clubs covering up the Adams apple in the pic….

Reckon he had a lucky escape either way, marriage aint cheap! Divorce is extortionate (so I been told), lucky she didn’t play the long game or she could have properly rinsed him!

    That aside what a muppet!

  2. My wife wants to transfer 350k THB back to UK, balance of funds to purchase land last year.

SCB have records of funds arriving but are still asking for reason for transfer. Is there a simple reason we can put on the foreign currency transfer form that will not require further paperwork? Does there have to be a reason? Is it easier just to take cash GBP with us given the amount.

    Many thanks in advance

  3. Hi,

My mother-in-law wants to transfer some farm land into my wife’s name. We are both resident in the UK.

I called the RTE in London to check the procedure, and unsurprisingly this does not seem to be a simple process.

They advised I need to complete the letter of confirmation relinquishing all claims to the land. This should be certified by a solicitor, and then sent to the FCO to be certified. I then send the documents to the embassy for approval.

    Have I missed anything?

We wonder if there is any easier route?

Also is there any tax for transfers between family?

    Thanks in advance

  4. Hi all,

We went to see the trees today. They are younger than we were led to believe, 6-7 year old trees that will be ready for tapping next year. The trees all look quite healthy and are growing on the reddish clay type soil that is typical of the area. A family member who has some experince of growing tress advised us they are type 51. The average diameter 1m off the ground of the ones we checked was 405mm. At a guess the lowest branches of the canopy are about 3.5m off the ground.

The chinese lady selling the site was pretty bold, and has set her inital price at 5M THB for 20rai Chanot. Although i am sure this we could get a better deal than this as she seems keen to sell.

We are obviously weary following James advice, especially as we cant see how much they are capable of producing.

We have a few other people to see so will keep you posted.

    Cheers

  5. Jim,

Thanks for the reply and figures.

It did not make sense to me either. Apparently they don’t live very close to the land so want to sell which seems feasible.

I am sure I will have more questions once we have seen the land.

    Cheers

  6. Hi,

My wife is thinking of buying some land planted with rubber trees in Sisaket. I think the trees are about 8 years old.

Is there anything in particular we should look for when we go and see the land? Any tips relating to soil or tree types would be appreciated. I read that the red coloured soil is better. I imagine the trees were provided by the Government. Any idea what type they would be?

Also any guidance for cost per rai for chanot land with similar age trees would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  7. Yes, the wording is fine.

You have 6 months in which to get married, but you need to apply for FLR before the Fiance visa expires. I would take a look at the forms now so you know the requirements. If you want to apply for FLR in person you need to book the appointment well in advance, they are very busy.

Your Fiance will need to show her TB certificate on arrival.

Also make sure you apply to the register office for permission to marry in plenty of time. As I recall you need to give 3 weeks notice.

    Good luck!

  8. A girl I know is heading to Europe soon

Her boyfriend is waiting for his divorce to be finalised

He has arranged a 3 month Schengen work visa through a company, which was granted on the premise of a job on arrival

She has known him for 6 months

He has only bought her a 1 way ticket

Has anyone heard of this scenario before?

Is it feasible or is there something more sinister going on?

    Many thanks

  9. Does anyone know an embassy with a short visa appointment queue?

My fiancee was going to apply to the French embassy but they have a month wait for an appointment!

I see from another post the Italian one is just as bad.

    Is Germany any quicker?

    Any other recommendations.

    Thanks in advance

  10. We recently travelled with Bangkok Air from Krabi-Bangkok.

We booked the flights following a recommendation that they were one of the more reliable carriers with a good reputation and chose them as we needed to arrive punctually for an engagement.

We were advised at check-in there was a short delay due to bad weather. After this cleared the other flights scheduled for similar times resumed service. However we were left waiting with no explanation.

We later learned we were waiting for a smaller and slower ATR type plane to arrive from Phuket. This seemed to be for economic reasons given the number of empty seats on this smaller plane an Airbus would have been very empty.

We eventually arrived at Bangkok 3 hrs late.

No information was given at Krabi other than the initial 1hr delay due to the weather.

No apology was given by any ground staff or by the crew on the plane. :o

The letter I received following my complaint was a joke. (Attached for your amusement)

Did they really think I would believe all the passengers destined for Krabi would suddenly choose to offload in Phuket! (the plane arrived empty)

Unsurprisingly their complaint webpage did not work!
