  1. I had series of bad experiences with FedEx. Delays, custom clearances blah blah.

And I had some bad ones from DHL also, at a milder degree.

So I'm sticking with DHL. Less headache. Trackable.

    The number is 076258500.

I'm sure you can arrange for pick up.

  2. Well, if he's making 30G a month then he's probably not planning to go home?

    Totally agree with Stekmer above.

    No sense of shame.

He prefers begging for money than an honest 3-day-a-week teaching.

Or maybe the school stop hiring him for a reason?

And why guys like him get deported when honest, hard working people like us break our backs trying to get visa and work permit to live and work legally in LOS?

  3. Try Vises Printing on Luang Poh Road in Phuket Town. Tel 076211755

If you come take a right at Phuket Prison junction then drive straight to Seng Ho traffic light.

At that light you turn left and it's some sign say Vises Printing on your right side.

It's somewhere near green sign Agriculture Bank (is it what they call it)

They do pretty good job at reasonable price. Also do print jobs for big hotels in Nai Harn and Surin.

Minimum order is like 500 pieces. Price varies at your design and coloring.

    G'day

  4. Errr... I think I saw one at Se-ed books at Tesco Lotus.

But I'm not sure it's still there.

I think you can try www.electrical-marine.com maybe they have it.

And Suraphol Boat something opposite Phuket Boat Lagoon.

They have GPS but I don't know how cheap is your cheap.

You can have a look for yourself.

    G'day.

  5. What most people here are failing to understand is that shareholding votes isn't the only way to control businesses or extract value from them. I've tried to explain this in simple terms (the concepts are simple - you can specify what can or can't be decided by shareholder majority votes and what needs to be decided by other mechanisms, the documentation and structures just need to be prepared quite carefully). The particular measures will vary from situation to situation and therefore personalised, professional advice is absolutely neccessary but anyone who has set up their company in a robust manner and has access to good legal and corporate advice shouldn't lose any sleep but should merely amend their corporate documentation over the next couple of years to reflect the chanegs that may have to be made in shareholding structures. At the risk of repeating myself ad nauseum, this would involve a review of M&A, shareholder agreements, covenants, director's employment contracts and the like.

My previous response, which has been deleted, wasn't an advert (although the full extract did carry the tagline of our corporate solutions division "Nobody knows more about business" which should have been removed, it was a response to a request to post our advisory issued yesterday. Apologies for any offence that the inclusion of that 5 word tagline may have caused to sensitive readers :o

Anyway, we expect professional operators to be able to carry on largely unaffected and if you're hearing any differently...well, that's your problem, but it's not a general problem.

Then I would like to ask and you can tell me how all this will effect me.

My company has been set up according to Thai-American Treaty of Amity.

I hold 99.9% ordinary shares of the company while 9 other Thai shareholders hold 1 prefered share each.

Now, what will my company be?

Still Thai company? Or is it now American company because I have majority shareholding votes?

  6. I think the reason that big retailers will be excluded is in Alien Business Act 1999

In List Three: The business which Thai national are not yet ready to complete with foreigners, where foreign company can not run business in this list:

    (14) Retailing all categories of goods having the total minimum capital less than 100 million Baht

or having the minimum capital of each shop less than 20 million Baht.

    (15) Wholesaling all categories of goods having minimum capital of each shop less than million

    Bath

In (14) and (15) here, I think Tesco by บริษัทเอก-ชัย ดีสทริบิวชั่น ซิสเทม จำกัด, its Thai partner, or whatever, has register capital of 20,550,000,050 thai baht.

So, today's moral, if you're big farang company, you'll be fine.

It's small companies like us they..(you know who) trying to get.

By the way, in the same List Three, Alien Business (aka farang-own companies) can not (19) Selling food or beverages

Errr..... what do we do now?

  7. I think Patong Municipality do not want floating lanterns. They're afraid that those lanterns might get blew up and stuck on trees and burn.

That will be bad, I think. Because many people would want to see lanterns released to Patong sky.

    I for one want to.

I just wonder, why, when they can have 5,000 floating lanterns in the ceremony in Phang Nga, can Patong have lanterns, too?

  8. Just east of Tesco. There is a Japanese bbq joint. The name escapes me. Cannot miss it. If coming from Central, go to tesco traffic light. Turn right. There are some new shop houses on the left. Look for a large red sign.

A bit expensive, but they import all their beef.

Otherwise, there is Oishi. Index shopping mall. A bit of everything there.

    It's called Yakiniku Koku.

    Nice one.

  11. I am looking for native English speakers to teach my 2 kids, 16 and 17 years old, in Korat.

Could be 1-2 hours private class every Saturday or Sunday, once a week.

They're going to college shortly and I want them to practice their speaking skill.

They don't really get to speak English much but I want them to get to practice with native speakers.

    Anybody have any idea?

    Thanks for all your reply.

  12. Right, I'm sorry, I was not answer clearly.

Timetable should still be like this.

    Depart Udon Thani at 08.20am, 6pm, 6.15pm, 6.30pm, 7pm, 7.30pm, 8pm, 8.30pm, and last one at 9 pm.

    Fare is 305 Baht.

But I suggest you call and confirm.

Travel time, as they'll go pass Korat, to Pak Thong Chai, Wang Nam Kiew, up the mountain, to Prachin Buri and the off to the east, should take like 10 hours or so.

  13. I heard that they're Udon Thani-Rayong bus where definitely pass Pattaya. You can try call Udon Thani bus station at 042- 247950~952 or 407 Pattana Bus at number 042-243800, 249664, 242598

They have air-con bus leaving Udon Thani around 6pm until 9pm.

Or if they don't have it, you can try 407 Pattana's Nong Khai-Rayong. But I'm not sure if you'll have seat on this one.

    Good luck, dear

  14. Ah... I'd love to recommend the one in Phuket Town but I think that'll help much since you're in Patong.

I myself used to do it at Cut & Curl though. They claim that they have same standard as their branches in Bangkok.

I must say I'm pleased with the result.

Hope you find the good shop for your hair styling.

  15. We used to buy from Phuket Meat Importer. Found ad in Phuket Gazette newspaper.

They have home delivery, COD. Gourmet Service or something, they call it.

A little expensive compares to Market Place or supermarket, but they have wide selections of food.

I'd recommend australian tenderloin. They said they supplied foods to places like Phuket Cabana and Zanotti in Bangkok.

  16. There is a shop a few meters pass Bang Niaw Chinese Temple....

Say if you're heading to Immigration Office from Phuket Town, it's on your left. I don't really remember the name of the shop. But they sell lots of XL helmet. I bought one for my friend a year ago. It works pretty well.
