You just can't imagine the amount of ugly, rude and intrusive illegal roadside taxi drivers, stalking "ghost" tour guides, food stall vendors shouting at foreigners to walk into their café etc. They can be found at every street corner, bus stop or power pole (which by the way are pasted with ugly paper signs announcing "extra service rates").
Not counting how cluttered the beaches have become from irresponsible tourists who loiter and leave behind garbage and throw away food stuff right there on the beach (this one is virtually caused by local Thais) - a turn off for any tourist from the western hemisphere.
Another turn off would be those sidewalk pavements where tourists should be able to go out for a stroll but cannot because the authorities have allowed vendors to park their food carts, pickup trucks, line up large things for sale (such as wood carvings, pots and pans, hammocks), and put up permanent tents to "announce" their space occupation.
I mean I could go on endlessly on why tourists would see Hua-Hin as a turn off as compared to, like, 50 years ago when it was such a nice calm peaceful fisherman's village when it was so nice to visit.
