  3. My post on Thursday got a number of replies regarding WRLife & with the response I received from them, am now  seeking out a further Company that will give cover ( At a reasonable cost). I was only paying monthly so not a issue cancelling Policy, as to having a policy with WRLife, I did but when I questioned them ( As they are only Brokers!), they stated the main Company is situated in Bangkok but could not get in writing from WRLife or that Co they would cover my Hospital costs. This is the reason I am now seeking a further Co ( That's if there are any that will Cover people over 70!).

  4. I know this has been discussed before but just want to hear if anyone has had current experience with WRLife as I have. My situation is that I have been with them since March this year, then saw an article about them being a Brokerage only, which I followed up with them & they advised that their main Health cover is with AIS ( http://assitinter.com/main/ ). Now as I am 72 years old my , followed up AIS only to be informed that they do not cover people over 70 years old & when I contacted WRLife, through numerous emails did not get the answer as to how they could get cover. I have not made a claim & have not seen anyone's remarks where they have & been declined. If anyone has had issues would be great to hear!

  5. I have already booked my ticket from Sydney to Bangkok & was to fly out on15th Jan under Test & Go but that was canned by Thai Gov't on 21st Dec. I want to get back to my wife / home & under DURESS, looking at changing flight & doing Sandbox, as this might be the only way back even when they review on 4th Jan. Has any body done the Sandbox & can recommend a SHA Hotel to stay at that has pick up from Airport & can organise the required Tests? This has as with a lot of other Expats returning , put a mocker on returning after 6 mths in Sydney!

  6. I have been in Australia since Aug'21 & now want to return to Thailand but want to know the following.

As I have a current retirement Visa ( valid till end  June 22 ) & a re-entry visa, do I need to take out both Ins till then. Or can I just book a return ticket for say 30 days, then change my return date & take out insurances for that period. As I am 71 the cost for ins till June is ridiculous & I intend staying for quite some time, any help or info would be great.

  7. I have been trying to sort Flight back to Australia & have gone to Singapore Airlines web site but when I put my dates in they come up with a flight to Sydney 34 hours & return flight 44 hours. Have tried a few times but same issue, any help in this matter would be appreciative. I don't want to fly Thai through  as they are flying to Darwin for quarantine.

This does not need a prewecrioption and can be bought from a pharmacy.  Unfortunately there is no locally made brand of this, only Micardis brand which being an import is expensive, though will be less than at a hospital.

You could save a great deal of money by switching to losartan (drug in same chemical family) plus HTZ (hydrochlorthiazide), taking the two separately. Contact your doctor and ask if thsi owuld be acceptable for you. Local brands of losartan and HTX+Z are dirt cheaop (as spearate drugs - the only combo is an expensive import).

Thank you for  advise will follow local pharmacies  to see which one can supply the product you have mentioned.

It is not legal to import medications by mail. That said, in practice customs will often let small parcels through if sent by regular post - never use a courier, guaranteed problems if you do.

Almost all BP meds used in the West are available here without prescription. The few that are not, there are similiar meds in same chemical family. It should not be necessary to bring in BP meds from abroad and  pharmacy prices are much, much lower than hospital prices.

Please indicate the name of the drug and I can advise more specifically.

The Blood Pressure tablet is Micardis Plus 80mg/12.5mg or its generic product Mizart HCT 80 /12.5mg

  10. Can anyone  please give me information regarding having Own Blood Pressure tablets sent from Australia, as the medications here do not comply. Am I able to have my Son airmail me my prescriptions without any problems from the Govn't Depts here. Have already had experience where I had to go to Hospital to get prescription but when I got same found that where the cost in Australia was 150 Baht for 1 x month same here was nearly 3,500 Baht ( Big difference 1).
