I’m not arguing as you make a compelling argument. Sure sex sell and sex might be a visible driving force in(parts of ) LOS but what trumps that “people’s business” the experience and ambiance. The Thai government is deemed the best in the world and their policies transcends that of any country. The Thai government just see thing more clearly and under their leadership Thailand is the elite. The best in the world. Strolling down Sukhumvit taking in the sights and fresh air, enjoying Phuket where taxies are affordable and in abundance, Pattaya where farangs are welcomed with open arms. If you have no money you are free to take whatever you want from the Thai boutiques until you get back on your feet.  “People’s business” and the authentic love the Thai have for the foreign traveler is unparalleled.

Spain, Italy, France have nothing to offer in regards to culture or cuisine. Going there would just be cold sex with very few addons. I prefer Thailand, land of smiles.

But I’m sure they look to Thailand in order to consider a superb business model like the one Thailand correctly have. I mean who would not want to be as successful and world class like Thailand.

I agree with kingofthemountain.  Nightwish should have had a bar in Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai etc, and then should have had a restaurant, a legal office, a visa office etc. 

 

They probably should have had a presence in the region, with a bar in Phnom Penh - Cambodia, and a bar in Vietnam somewhere.  Instead, they opted for 25 bars on just one Soi, in just one city, Pattaya.  

 

On the point of The Nightwish Group having bars in other nearby countries, as we know, the race is on for the vaccine roll out, not only because the Thai population has to be vaccinated before the virus mutates into a strain this current vaccination may not work against, and not only to bring prosperity back to the tourism industry here, but because the first country in the region to vaccinate it's population will attract the 2021 / 22 tourists.

 

I have long said I see Vietnam as Thailand's biggest competitor in the region.  There has been articles on TV with senior Thai's in the tourism industry saying the same.

 

If Vietnam rolls out the vaccine before Thailand, you will see a big portion of Thailand's tourists holiday in Vietnam in 2021 / 22, many or the first time.  They may just like what they find in Vietnam, and never return to Thailand.  

 

The vaccine procurement and roll out competition between the two countries will be interesting.

I have zero doubt that that the visionary, proud and avantgarde leadership of the Thai Government along with RTGS Khun Anutin Charnvirakul Prime Minister and the Minister of Public Health will set a prime example for the world to follow when it comes to the vaccine roll out. Vietnam will not be able to compete with their (Thailand) world class strategy. Countries like the US, London & Europe will , going forward, be able to look to Thailand for guidance in order to kill this foreign UK, Norway, South Africa mutated virus.

Imagine this. In the near future wealthy Thai equity funds will be able to purchase vast amount of hotel chains, buildings, land, property rights, deeds for upcoming projects, business, plots etc for 10c of the $1, probably even less. The same funds have influences on the countries politics. What we see now is shaping tomorrow. A cooperate elite owning and running everything. It’s an extreme unbalanced distribution of wealth creating a nation of slaves.

I might consider koh samui of it wasn’t for the unfriendly people, expensive hotels, dirty sois, taxi mafia, rip off joints and unclean beaches! 

The spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s office must be rambling as a cut in GSP will impact Thai export to the US corridor gravely. US consumer will favor cheaper products ex Vietnam.

Yes, without the GSP certification VAT and taxes will apply for US based customers. Whom in return will choose different products.
