I included these, simple bank balance method, in this order:

    • TM. 7, the main form, Application Temporary Stay In The Kingdom - w/ photo. Add phone# below sig on 1st page. The two pages can be separate, don't need to be front to back.
    • copies of passport pages, include the visa, extension stamp, entry stamp, and TM.6 departure card
    • proof of address - no map or photo needed
    • standard bank letter to Immigration (B100 at BBL)
    • copy of bank book from last 12 months, first page of course, updated last page. Account balances shown must be in accordance w/ the requirements. Strict accordance, I believe. Bring the bank book along if verification needed. If you'd changed bank books (ran out of space on the old one) during the year, then copy the old one too and bring it along.

I dunno if they still give these last two papers and make you sign them, but I included them anyway (easy just print out a copy with all the rest), and they didn't give them back. Adds to the paper pile. ???? My goal is try to ensure that I'm not asked for anything further, no copies, no sigs, no numbers, no nothin'. Not that I'd really mind, and I expect something new at any time, but it's playing the game to see if I can do it. I believe the IOs (on this desk, at least) would really prefer to save their time and your time.

    • Criteria for Consideration an application for a stay in the Kingdom - sign w/ phone#
    • The Acknowledgement of Penalties for a Visa Overstay - sign w/ phone#

Sign all, careful that the sigs match that on the passport. Group things together  Fee: B1900.

They did not ask me for a TM30, but I'm an owner, I gave them copies of my yellow book, and I'd left the country for only 2 weeks last year. I've never filled out one. Now, I've been prepared for a fine, but seems they don't care much about me--yet. ????

I do not see mention of required Thai health Insurance listed.

I just wrote an extensive report on renewing an O-A Visa based on marriage. Apparently it was not accepted by TV but nonetheless I did make reference to how they calculated my monthly deposits. I was missing a foreign deposit in December. She added up all deposits and divided by 12 and then stated why are you changing over to Visa based on marriage when you have more than enough to renew your O-A. I said for insurance reasons.

I have been asking people on various forums if anyone has extended their O-A Visa based upon marriage for the last 6 months and, I have had no replies. Most renewed on an Non O marriage. I changed my O-A retirement to marriage at the beginning of Oct 2019 just before Insurance was required. I have been inquiring if anyone who has renewed their extension based upon an O-A marriage if they had to have the required Thai Insurance. You are the first person that has stated it was not required based upon marriage. Although, I did my 90 day report last week and asked them if I needed Thai medical insurance for my next extension (September 2020), They checked my passport and said I do need the required insurance. They told me to go on-line and get a policy before next extension. Sometimes I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone in dealing with this Office (Udon).

Can anyone respond with some encouragement concerning Thai Medical Insurance, needed, yes or no based upon marriage extension. My concern is that I am too old (72) to obtain required Insurance.

A marriage can be registered at any Amphoe.

From my own experience, I disagree. I was told in Bangkok where I had the paperwork done for my marriage, that I could go to any Amphoe to register the marriage. I went to the local Amphoe where I was renting a house and was told emphatically, that all marriages need to be registered at the Amphoe where the wife name is registered and in the family Blue Book. Which in this case was Amphoe Phen which is a very long drive. Only then, did they register the marriage.

Changed from O-A Retirement to O-A Marriage at Udon on 14 Jan, no mention of Health Insurance

Thank You for the information. You are the first person to respond to my question concerning health insurance. I have been checking all forums since the law went into effect. I was going to ask Immigration at my next 90 day but even though one IO may say no health insurance required another may say yes it is required when It is time to extend. Therefore, of all the forums including this one, you are the first person I have encountered to have gone through the process when renewing O-A marriage in Udon after the law went into effect.. Therefore, it gives me hope.

Did my first extension based on marriage at Udon Thani on Jan. 15th. Previously on retirement extensions. We needed an updated kor ror 2 no older than a week from the 15th (which we had). Also, a "meaningless" bank statement (from the bank...100 baht) which shows 6 months activity, but NOT including the current month ????. I am now "under consideration" until I report back Feb. 14th.

    Side story:

Oh, and at the end the IO says: 2500 baht. I say: No, it's 1900 baht. He says: 500 baht charge from retirement to marriage. I say: It is not in any immigration rules/charges that I have read. So, caught with my gonies between my legs I put down the extra 500 baht while glaring at the IO. He takes it, and then surprisingly throws the 500 baht back on the table. Better watch my back when I come back there on the 14th Feb.????

Hi I too changed my visa extension from an O-A retirement to marriage in Udon Thani prior to the Thai health insurance requirement Oct. 31. My next extension based upon marriage is due in July 2020. Did they ask you for proof of health insurance for the marriage extension? Also, I too, was told the application fee was 2500 Baht. I did not question the extra 600 Baht fee because they were holding my application for the next 30 days.
