  1. Ok Sheryl defintely knows what she is talking about.

Medconsult are a good price. Also for maintenance of wrinkles etc it is usually more the 25-50 unit range. I have had 100 units but that was the first time ever having and a once off.

Ryan's case is completely different. Most people wouldn't reuse vials.

I would however like to have Jacks Googling skills! Haha. They didn't come up in my searches (but I am looking more for fillers as I think thats a better way to gauge price). I think the prices are closer than you think. 4000 thb for 34 units vs 100 unit options at more 9000 thb (it's the next image down on the link for general wrinkles). So basically worth getting quotes from both of them.

Thank you! That was really helpful stuff. Hopefully it helps others also.

I use Dr. Donna at medconsult asia. Definitely the best price and she knows what she is doing.

She tends to be conservative in amount, if you like more extensive effect will need to tell her.

Also she has a range of brands including many from Korea. Your mileage may vary but for me, they did not work so I had to request actual Botox brand. (which she does have, though costs more than the Korean brands).

    Thank you

Is there some disability that would prevent you from going to the market ? I've found Home Delivery to be spotty at best. Some items usually missing, must be reconciled later and fresh items perhaps not the ones you would have selected if you had shopped yourself.

???? I love how you are trying to be polite with the disability question! Very respectful thank you.

No, unfortunately I am just lazy ???? But seriously I just value my time different to others. It takes me an hour shopping (which I don't enjoy) vs 5-10 minutes online.

Ha, yes well I promise you in the UK & Australia the delivery service is the same. Items missing 90% of the time! Then comparing that to me going down to the supermarket is worse! I can take a list and still forget things! ????

I don't know where in Thailand you're moving to, but in Bangkok, (and doubtless in the bigger provincial cities), Central through its flagship Central Foodhall, or through its smaller Tops brand, delivers through their online services. Central Foodhall has a wide array of foodstuffs, probably wider than the best supermarkets in the West, combining the top of the range Western food, with SE Asian food.

Furthermore, if either of these are available in the location you are going to live in, it might be best to visit them first. You can buy, set up an account, and have delivered.

    tops.co.th

    centralfoodhall.com

The other good high end supermarket is at Siam Paragon, or Emporium (both in Bangkok).

The stores you mention are probably more suited to local tastes, although of course they carry many imported (foreign) brands too.

Thank you! That is helpful. I will be moving to Bangkok. 5-10 minutes from Central.

I'm glad I now know about Tops. It seems like they are definitely more Western. But ironically Makro still comes out on top for me. I promise I'm not a Makro sales rep! ???? It could just be me and the things I'm trying to get.

  5. Hey guys,

I'll be permanently moving to Thailand soon. So I'm trying to make sure I get all the essentials sorted first, like food!

Fortunately Thailand looks like it has many home delivery options for groceries.

I have read many articles online recommending mainly Big C, Happy Fresh, Tesco etc. But Makro (something I found accidentally) looks by far and away better to me, which might just mean Western food choices. Like seriously, the options Makro home delivery has compared to the other 2 mentioned just isn't worth putting them in the same league.

It wasn't until I was on here asking about Sardines that I realised how much I was missing before helpful people here mentioned other avenues.

So for example, it seems Makro is best for frozen and chilled items. But when it comes to anything from Oats to Sardines to Protein powder it seems places like Shoppe and Lazada are best.

I didn't even know about Lazada or Shoppe, I was wasting my time trying to find eBay or Amazon Thailand ???? rookie error.

So if I'm missing anything again here guys please let me know! ????

    Cheers

  6. Wow you guys are awesome thank you.

So, just quickly I should have been clearer on this, "Basically the smaller type in ~100 to 120g rectangular tins usually. "

I mean I am looking for the smaller type of Sardine (Sprat, Brisling, Scottish, Norway, North Atlantic etc).

(I actually don't care about the size or shape of the tin! ????).

I think Ayam are the larger more common type (or at least more common internationally it seems)?

The price of these is something I'm finding it hard to come to terms with! ????

But I have obviously been spoilt growing up in UK & Australia. These are what I am used to:

    image.png.f4c09de916311928c7d45fc5e40eda6f.png

    So 34 THB.

It's important to me because I have 2 of these a day.

They are much healthier than the larger type and I also can't stand the taste of the larger ones (well as much).

I have found some on Alibaba (UK option / suppliers not China).

Where ordering 100 isn't an issue.

They are still quoting but it's looking good so far.

  7. Hey guys,

Does anyone know where you can get the smaller John West type of Sardines in Thailand?

Ideally the ones in water (or olive oil maybe).

Also popularly known as Brisling Sardines.

Basically the smaller type in ~100 o 120g rectangular tins usually.

    Thanks

    Similar Brands

Safcol, John West, Ocean Rise etc

  8. Thank you!

There are only two programs for teaching Thai to foreigners whose standards compare to those of Western universities:

Intensive Thai Program at Chulalongkorn University.  Looks like the current schedule is five days a week for three hours per day.  This is an excellent program.  The teachers are highly qualified and very well coordinated.  It is a challenging program where the workload in new vocabulary is > 30 words per day.  The other students in the small class will be from all over the world and highly motivated.  Will qualify the student for a student visa.

    http://www.arts.chula.ac.th/CTFL/intensivethai/

    Sumaa Language and Culture Institute

Most instruction is one-on-one with an instructor who will coordinate the material with your interests and objectives.  Other students at Sumaa include or have included ambassadors and attaches from multiple embassies, CEOs, academics, and others, many of whom have become fluent in Thai.  Schedule is per the student.  Will not qualify the student for a student visa.

    http://www.sumaa.net/

I have studied in the Chula Intensive Thai program a few years ago and have been continuing at Sumaa for more than five years.  I can recommend both without reservation, but for your visa requirements only Chula will serve.

There are no other options for serious students in Bangkok. Both programs are expensive by Thai standards, but cheap by Western standards.  Failure is generally cheaper than success.

  9. Hey guys, I'm looking for recommendations for good Thai language courses in Bangkok.

I noticed the last thread on this was by someone who doesn't genuinely want to learn Thai. I do. I really want to learn Thai and the ability to get a Visa at the same time sounds perfect! :)

So I'll admit to wanting to keep costs down but courses that aren't visa mills etc would be great and of course ones that are good and I will actually learn Thai!

It sounds like people abusing the Education visa has led to multiple entry Visas being harder to get which is a shame as I would ideally like and probably need at least a year.
