If Doha is like Dubai, you still go through Security at the connection.
I just flew LGW-BKK via Dubai. I am carrying 2 months of heart meds for my trip - all are in labelled boxes and I have printouts of my NHS prescription and doctor's letter- just in case of being asked - I wasn't.
I think I will get a certificate from my doctor, maybe that is enough.

You are right, but I don't understand why that should be a problem, I mean, if only connecting to another flight, the medicine will not find it's way out on the streets.

Seems a little overkill to have to go through security when transit only. >< *sigh*

Just arrived back in Bangkok, not taking any classified drugs - but this time I got a short letter from my physician stating a couple of diagnosises I have + the medication, which includes both benzos and kodein at occasions.
Next step for me will be to show immigration that letter when EXITING, then inquiring a bit about what I'd need to take in a very small dose of these things.
Will also keep building a relationship with a local doctor that has been a good helper, maybe he could also write a letter or something...
Its getting insane in the West as well when it comes to these classes of drugs, but of course there is a reason for that.
For me, and others that use it VERY infrequently its of course a drag...
I also use it very infrequently, and it sure is a drag!
Why would you show them a letter when exiting? Is it mandatory that you declare your medicine when exiting? Why not only show them if you are asked?

It needs to be in a clearly labelled prescription bottle. A letter from your doctor also not bad idea.
No need for permit or to declare, that is only for narcotics not pyschotropics.
That is for Thailand. But you also need to consider any airports you may fly through/connect at especially if in the Gulf, some of them have very strict rules.
Going to fly through Qatar, but will not leave the airport, only as a connection flight.

Seems like I need a certificate from my doctor, but no need to declare at the Customs, nor do I need a permit. If I understand it correctly.

From time to time I use valium (aka diazepam, a prescribed medicine from my doctor) especially when flying.
Will it be a problem in the airport? It seems like Thailand is pretty hard on drugs, and I do not want to run into trouble.

The coronavirus fatalities are far worse than the Chinese authorities are admitting. Entire supply chains are being shut down as cities in China are in lockdown. It is not good news for anybody, with the possible exception of the medical industry.
This is not good news indeed. it is in fact a disaster. ☹️
valium, diazepam, medicine, airport problems?

For me personally, I do like to minimize the risk of running into trouble, so I think it is good to hear other peoples opinion and experiences.
It is good to hear your experience as well
