Can the Juristic Person at my condo provide me with a copy of my TM30?
The Juristic Person at my condo helpfully put together a pack including copies of the 80-year-old owner of the condo's id card and thabien baan. I just added the bits they had not included such as my entry stamp and my e-visa and the rental contract with the address of my condo and took it to Immigration to get a paper TM30. I overheard the Immigration staff complaining that when the condo had done the TM30 online, they had used the address of their head office nearby rather than the actual address of my condo. This essentially defeats the object of registering the address where the foreigner resides.

Credit card charges by merchants
@Jumbo1968 You are approaching this from the wrong angle. Being rejected for a credit card or an increase in the limit of an existing card is not a personal slight. It does not mean you are being penalised or insulted. There is no need to "get the hump". It is simply a commercial decision based on risk and return. As a pensioner with no income other than a state pension, you do not fit the mould of a profitable customer. The issuing bank declines to give you a credit card or limit increase as you are not likely to be profitable and could well be loss-making. It is the bank's decision. Access to credit is not a right or a meritocracy. They don't want your custom.

5 year multiple entry DTV visa (Destination Thailand) from 2024-xx-xx
I applied under the 'workcation' category rather than the 'soft power (medical appointment)' category. So I don't know the answer. However reports on this thread seem to suggest it is relatively easy. How about a scale and polish?

5 year multiple entry DTV visa (Destination Thailand) from 2024-xx-xx
When I applied, you could not apply from within Thailand. You had to use the evisa system (this depends on which country/embassy you are applying in) and you needed to show some proof of address in that country (again dependent on which country/embassy you are applying in)

Credit card charges by merchants
Unless you know something I don't this is very dangerous advice. From the Halifax website "Interest charges will apply from the day you make a cash withdrawal." I will use cash from my SCB a/c for now.

Credit card charges by merchants
I am going to buy a motorbike. I didn't really want to use the money I have in Thailand. So, I thought I might use a UK credit card I hold which has no charges for non-sterling purchases. It provides excellent value. I have used it in many countries. However Mit Yon Pattaya and many other Thai merchants have a 3% surcharge on credit card transactions (Thai or foreign). On larger purchases, that makes it not worthwhile. I will stick to cash. Does anybody know why they apply this surcharge. I assume they are just passing along the fees they have to pay with a little added padding for safety.

5 year multiple entry DTV visa (Destination Thailand) from 2024-xx-xx
Certificate of Residency (for either driving licence or buy/sell/transfer vehicle) obtained from Chonburi Immigration (Jomtien) on DTV with no requirement for 90 days registration. All achieved in one day - TM30 and COR. 😃 That makes life easier.

Taxi from Suwannaphum to Pattaya
I used Cherry Taxi. The driver was prompt, polite and helpful even offering to wait at the hotel which was locked when I arrived at 4am. He had limited driving skills.

California doctor claims spicy Thai dish left her with chemical burns
When I worked in the UK, in a large financial organisation, it was commonly known South Asians were 4 times more likely to use the formal grievance processes than either whites or blacks and far less likely to make impulsive decisions. This makes them loss-making customers. It is a cultural trait. The firms are aware of this but absolutely cannot refuse their custom as it would be discriminatory on the grounds of race. So they target their advertising to the black community and never target South Asian customers.

Residence certificate requirements?
I am trying to put together a plan, the goal being to buy and register a motorcycle in my own name. I have done this a few times a long time ago but things have changed, it seems. I am in my fifties, in Chonburi province and on a DTV receiving 180 days each entry. I last entered 3 days ago. Here is my clueless plan. 1. Get a TM30 in my passport. 2. Put down a deposit on a new motorbike and get some sort of letter from the motorbike dealer. 3. Take the letter to immigration to get a certificate of residence. 4. Take the certificate of residence back to the dealer. Pay the remainder of the cost of the bike. This should allow the dealer to apply for the registration in my name while allowing me to ride away with the bike. 5. Pick up the registration from the dealer within 90 days. What could possibly go wrong? 😋 Please let me know if this is the right way to go about this. I am pretty sure it isn't.

Does anyone have a recommendations for a good rented condo in the Pattaya area. i) 40 - 60 sq. m. ii) happy to be well away from downtown, 10 km away is not a problem iii) maximum rental budget 16000 Baht per month iv) good security for parking is a must. I have a nice motorbike. Thanks for any suggestions.

Taxi from Suwannaphum to Pattaya
In the past, there were a number of good taxi firms that specialised in the run from Suwannaphum to Pattaya. If you didn't want to use the bus, they provided an excellent alternative and were far better in every aspect than the official airport taxis. Are they still going? And, if so, can anyone recommend one. Many thanks

Money changers in Pattaya
I just had a look at their website. It looks like there is a branch in Big C Central Pattaya which would suit me perfectly. Do they all offer the same rates or am I better going to the Head Office in Na Kleua?
