PMSL. A Thai wants to visit London but is given Blackpool instead. As if that will ever happen.

What the <deleted>. My wife and I was to visit Bangkok and Hua Hin in November. Our we going or <deleted> what?

Not everyone wants a beach holiday. If I wanted that, I would go to Spain. It’s the culture. No Bangkok, no holiday.

As things go, it’s not too bad. Turkey used to be a crisp £10 note in the passport. Now, they collect it electronically. Going across the border is similar.

Just been reading about it. The government state it would bring in around 1,000,000 baht a month (allowing 1200 tourists in). Little bit like seeing on a fire, but it’s a start

Just cancelled our 2 week holiday for November. Thailand has now lost £1500 in hotel costs. £1000 in organised trips and around £2000 in spending money. Not forgetting airport taxes and landing fees. That’s just from 1 couple. I would rather spend my money where people want us. Shame

My holiday is already booked for November. I want to enjoy myself and stay safe. I can wait another 6 months. On the other hand, there was 23,000 road traffic fatalities last year - Ban cars. There was 464,000 food related incidents - Ban food. 10 related elephant deaths; wait until it reaches 15 and then ban them. Nearly 1000 drug related deaths. . The list goes on

I’ve booked Emirates To Bangkok in November. They have changed the departure airport and times on 3 occasions in the last month. They now expect me to travel for 20 hours with a long wait in Dubai

It’s not rocket science. Those with money (generally) work and are unlikely to take more than 2 weeks off; like me. Those with reduced funds (Backpackers) have more time off to travel Asia but can not afford hotel prices for more than a couple of days, preferring hostels. If countries like Vietnam and Cambodia open up before Thailand, where to you think all these backpackers (university gap years) will go?
This virus is here to stay; it will never go away and vaccines will only reduce the effect but not cure. Ask anyone who has the annual flu vaccine. Croatia relies on tourism for 18% of its GDP. Thailand, 20%. Croatia is pleading with European countries to relax their quarantine procedures so it can keep its head above water. If Thailand does not open up before the end of the first quarter, 2021 it may leave its tourism in tatters, not for the backpackers but the money spenders. Hotels that close down will find it almost impossible to restart as they, in the majority, rely on travel agencies placing their properties in their brochures. Hotels in Turkey who relied on Thomas Cook have gone bust and many have closed down permanently because their hotels were not placed in other brochures.I would suggest that the death rate due to economic turmoil will far exceed death due to COVID-19

Someone stated above that if there are travel restrictions placed, no one would come. The problem is far worse than that. I have already checked with my travel agent and insurance company. They both say - If the airline is flying into Thailand and the hotel is open, you will not be able to cancel your holiday without severe financial penalties. My wife and I have a trip booked for the 17 November. I doubt if it will happen. At least I can move the date for sometime next year. If I’m forced to stay in one location and have my movement restricted, our holiday will be ruined.

Another year, wasted. Phuket is not the only place visitors go to.
