And of course you make no mention of:

    - The morality of gaining the license at that time and no other folks had any access to licenses.

    - Massive numbers of folks quickly bought mobile phones on borrowed money at expensive interest rates.

    - Well proven that when the paymaster 'won' an election not long after and all villages in Thailand were given millions of Baht that there was pressure on village head men / women to push villagers to buy mobile phones and within a short time the paymasters phone company sold 10 Baht and 20 Baht top up cards to ensure very poor folks were enticed to buy phones and phone cards.

that's a heinous crime to borrow money for an item which is so essential now, that even 5 year old kids, to very senior, need it and use it daily. Most probably it was worth to buy it on credit and jump on information revolution as early as possible.

no village headman can force anybody to buy anything, especially if it was on credit. With lack of telephone landlines in thailand, jumping into mobile technology, was a major civilisation leap, which boosted the whole economy

  2. the deputy environment minister said yesterday in press conference, that elephants died, because they were crossing the river in search of water or food.

That can't be truth, because there is plenty of water and hence plenty of food.

Elephants have died, because they were chased off the road by the park wardens and into danger area of waterfalls. During press conference he did not mention this fact at all.

It all looks like whitewashing the wardens from any responsibility from what happen. Now is time for show off, building fences and even barricades. Non will work, because it's not possible to fence off river from animals - they would just starve.

Judging from the picture of press conference - there are 3 military officers, 5 volunteers from the king's paramilitary run charity, policeman and 4 civilians. There are not any park wardens in uniforms. Are they are being sidelined?

  3. it's interesting to see, how Thai PBS, the mouthpiece for the government statements and state propaganda, is trying to bring Thaksin into this equation.

thus they are suggesting, that the opposition is related to thaksin and should be blamed for his "hidden shares" and for the beginning of southern problem. And that was duty of army to stage military coups, force on people 2 constitutions, military governments and support for democrat party and suthep's PDRC as "good" parties to rule on army behind.

instead, the full blame for the deep political division and for the southern conflict lies in the hands of army, which try to control every aspect of public life.

    - they do stage regular military coups

    - they do push for any laws they want and brake any law they don't like

    - they suppress opposition to state, including forced disappearances, false imprisonment, street shootings and beatings

    - they control all mass media and enforce strict censorship to the point of physically destroying 4500 independent village radio stations, putting gagging orders on thai and international journalists

    - they are responsible for a heavy handed approach to insurgency and to insurgents, including mass murder, torture and killing suspects in their custody. For the army it's the training field, what they can do militarily in the rest of the country when mass protests erupt

The court record showed that Manat Bophlom had admitted to the charge ...

BBC Thai cited that Thammanat said to BBC Thai via telephone on October 4, 2019 that he did not plead guilty to the charge, but instead asked for negotiations between his attorney and the court.

He said he had not been involved in drug smuggling. He said at the time of his arrest, he did not have much experience or enough money to fight the charge, BBC Thai quoted him as saying.

he is habitual lier, court papers contradict him.

he did not try to bribe his way out, because it's very difficult and costly in australia. Instead he grassed his mafia friends in thailand (that was also stated by the court as a reason for such short sentence).

there is more to the BBC story in today's article from australia from the paper, which brought to light the story a month  ago
