  1. Last question..................honest!!

When Im in Thailand. "when" can I apply for the additional 30 days extension please?   ( I mean is there a time frame to do it, eg. when the visa is almost up etc?) or can I apply for the additional 30 days extension at any time after I arrive there?

( I assume I apply to Immigration in soi 5 Jomtien?)!

You could just enter Visa Exempt for 45 days then extend in Thailand for a further 30 days giving a total of 75 days if sufficient enough.

I'm there for 80 odd says, so unfortunately that wouldn't be enough.

I "could" just get a 45 day visa exempt, then fly out somewhere for a day or two, and get another 45 day visa exempt. Of course that's a pain as it involves the cost of traveling etc...plus knowing my luck, they would rescind the 45 day visa and replace it with the 30 day one! Which wouldn't be long enough!

I think I will apply online for the 60 day visa today, then try extending it for another 30 days in Thailand.

  3. Evening all.

I just last week. came back (to the U.K.) from an eight weeks holiday in Thailand. using the 60 day tourist visa.

Im going back next month, for just under 90 days...Ive just been on the Thai e visa website. but Im unable to find such  a visa?!! I will refresh my browser and look again, is it possible to still get a 90 day tourist visa? Or do I just get a 60 day visa and either extend it in Thailand or else just leave before my 60 days and come back in to get another visa?  Im pretty sure I can get a 90 day tourist visa?  Damned if I can find it on the website though?!

"At this meeting, AOT revealed that currently, they were only operating at 33% of the level seen in 2019. "

"Meanwhile, Thai Airways is one of the only airlines running direct daily flights to London; their capacity is up 600% with more daily passengers. "

Wow...They must be stacking the passengers in the cargo hold then! I always used Thai (pre.covid) VERY rare to see any spare seats on the flights I flew.

So to have risen 600%?   Wow! I see they aren't using A380 now either......god knows where the extra 600% are sitting!!

You could apply for it a month before your departure date.

A single entry tourist visa is valid to use for entry got 3 months from the day it issued.

    Many thanks for that,

I think I will apply for my October trip visa, in late August/early September...Im back on the 7th (or 8th?!) of December, I will apply for my January (12th). trip as soon as I land back in blighty!

  6. Good day all,

A quick question if I may please !

I'm finally going to Thailand in October this year (yay! after more than 2 years away!).

I'm leaving UK October 12, and will be there  for 57 days. I have set up an account with the e- visa ...In the good old days ! (pre covid!). I could just phone up my local Thai consulate, tell them when I was going, and they'd arrange a date for me to go there, and get my visa whilst I wait..

I realise the visa can be issued a certain time before departure time...but cant remember how long that is! So basically. what would be the best/earliest time, for me to apply for my online e-visa (from the U.K) for an October 12 flight  please?

I'm coming back  to the U.K.early December, then going again To Thailand in January, this trip will be for 80 something days..I assume I just apply (as soon as I get back home!) for a 60 day e-visa, then get another 30 day extension whilst I'm in Thailand next March ish time?

    Many thanks!

It appears to me that vehicles here simply pull out of laybys, petrol stations, car parks at will, without any consideration for others, or indeed themselves.

    They most certainly do.

The only thing that surprises me, is that there aren't even more fatalities in road traffic accidents.

The standard of driving and total lack of any sort of road sense is shocking.

I'm obviously, not saying 100% of  drivers on Thai roads are are the above...a hell of a lot are though unfortunately.

A single entry tourist visa allows a 60 day stay that can be extended for 30 days.

For a 60 day stay you could enter visa exempt that allows a stay of 30 days that can be expended for 30 days.

You could register on the e visa site early if you wanted to.

FWIW, my mate is three years past-due on his long, annual Thailand vacation and after I visited him last Autumn, he's been champing at the bit and pestering me with questions on TP, visas, insurance, flights, you name it. It's taken about six months for him to get out of 'panic mode' as he's not planning visiting until maybe this autumn.  Hopefully, all the post-Covid rules and regulations will be in place and his visit, probably on a visa-exempt entry + extensions and a side trip to Laos, will be as easy as it was before.

    Many thanks both!

In answer to your original question I set up an account at https://www.thaievisa.go.th last year but so far only used it for research purposes.  It appears however to be in full working order so if you feel like setting yours up I'd say go for it.

    Many thanks for that!

Just what I was looking for!

I was a bit worried, had I set one up now, then not used it for a few months, it would be in valid or un useable etc!

    Cheers!

I find it much easier now from USA. Every thing online and can be done from the comfort of my home while I am still in possession of my Passport that I can use to make a trip to Bahamas. Also, I don't have to run around to get a MO, go to PO and mail it. Can use my credit card to charge visa fees. Much easier than before. And also in line with modern time and technology.

Nothing wrong with modern technology............until you need to actually need to "speak" to a "real" person....(preferably in the country from whence I'm phoning!!). lol!

Online is fine...if however you need something, which cant be done/answered/amended etc etc online.....that's where I miss good old fashioned face to face service!

Computer says no!  (I realise it wont mean anything to you as you aren't British....its a phrase from a sketch show which used to be on British T.V.).

There is an article in BKK Post today, saying that Thailand Pass will cease on 1 July.  Nothing on this site, as yet, but could be worth waiting until 1 July to see what if any changes happen then.

of course, it might be just wishful thinking like the TAT arrival predictions.

I am in UK and was planning to book return to LOS in early July.  Now holding off, and waiting to see if there will be any definite changes.  I do not want to waste money on compulsory insurance if I can avoid it.

Ive seen that, and I know everything can change daily.....I will  leave it for a while longer I guess....they may well change it July or august etc.....then they may well change it again before I go!!

Its been over 2 years, since I was  last there, so of course missed the place  and friends over there too.

The only "good news"!? When I came back in February 2020, I immediately booked for  September 2020, with Thai Air.....of course!   Thai air went up the creek!  so I assumed my money was lost. as I asked (well e-mailed as no phones were answered !) many times for a refund..

Fast forward a few months ago. after yet another e-mail to them...they FINALLY!! sent me an e-mail. saying reply to this e-mail for a flight this year....which is what I did...and hence me going back in October....I had "written off" the money I paid for the ticket...so that was a welcome boost!

Lousy service predates Covid-19. In the old days companies and organisations hired 'workers'. These workers 'worked' at 'offices'. They were called  clerks  or admin assistants. Their 'job ' was to help  people by providing  a service.  BUT NOWADAYS- For everything we are supposed to 'create an account ' AND THEN DO ALL THE WORK OURSELVES!

This started years ago with buying travel tickets in line. I DON'T I always go to a  travel  agent. The next big 'scam' is hotel booking agencies which rarely work to our advantage. Nowadays in the UK even to pay  bills water, gas, electricity we are supposed  to do all the work including reading the metres and setting up accounts on line. Now with WFH it's even worse.

    Sadly..

I cant argue with a single word of that!  Im an old git now !(well 62 and retired!).

Good old fashioned "service" has long gone out the window ........(in the U.K. at least!).

As for working from home?!!.... Don't get me started!!!! Perfect excuse for them to say...sorry cant help you, as I'm working from home?  I say you cant call it work , if you cant even answer my queries!!!

Are you asking about 90 day reports of staying longer than 90 day in the country.

As soon as leave the country you do not need to do one until 90 days after you arrive back in the country.

    Cheers for that.

No. I'm looking for info. for a visa for 60 days (from UK ) for the October trip.  (Then I will return to the U.K for Christmas and new year for a month...returning to Thailand Jan. 2023).

Then I assume another 60 day visa for The January trip (though I will need to apply for another 30days in Thailand for the January trip..either apply at imm. office do a visa run, or maybe go Malaysia or somewhere for a day!?).

    Many thanks.

  14. Hello all.  (Im from U.K. and flying from U.K.!)

I'm booked to go back to Thailand in October this year, I will be going for 58 days,

Will then stay in U.K, for a month , for Christmas and new year, then back to Thailand, in January for 84 ish (not over 90!) days.

I appreciate all visas now need to be done online , on the official website. Ive had a quick look on there and it says to create account. Which is where my question comes in!   Can I just create an account today?  Even though, I'm not going until October? Or is it better to just wait until a bit nearer to October?  I  mean, if I create an account today, it will be "valid"! forever so to speak? As in no dead lines etc? I only ask, as I don't want to try opening an account now, if they ask me online when I'm going , and it "blocks"! me or whatever, in a few months time when I apply for the visa, as Ive "not used" the account or something since opening it!

Ah!! It was so much easier pre covid days! Phone my local consulate, make an appointment, sign the form and pay the dosh !! Lol!

Thanks for any answers, Ive had a look online and cant really see the answer to my question...hence me asking on here!!

  15. Thanks for the replies.

I thought (wrongly it would appear!) Id read somewhere that it wasnt possible to apply for a visa online.

Ive finally had a reply from Thai Airways, giving me the chance to re-book my cancelled flight from September 2020! Will try and get that booked up this week..."Hopefully"! by October , things like the Thai pass will be gone!

  16. Evening all!

With the restrictions to enter Thailand lessening quite a bit now, Im going to visit Thailand for 58 ish days In October-December this year.

Ive always used my local Thai Consulate to get my Thai visa for 60 days. This is of course now shut. Am I right in thinking, that I can now just enter Thailand and get a 30 day visa on entry, then either! get a 30 day extension over there. or else just do a visa run for another 30 day visa?

As I say, in the past, it was easy to get my 60 day visa. from the Thai Consulate in Cardiff...alsa this has now closed!

Thanks in advance for any replies.

  17. I came back from the Canaries last week....didn't need to wear a mask on the plane even.

Looks like it will be a fair few months before Thailand is "properly" open then?

I was hoping to go to Thailand this October, was hoping by then the Thai pass etc. would be done with, even if it is, would be a right pain having to wear a mask...particularly outside and at beaches etc! Madness!
