  3. I wonder if this guy owed any money to the Banco Vaticano :o

Seems I remember a chap who was involved in some financial shenanigans with said bank awhile back and ended up in a similar posture under a certain bridge in London.

That "chap" was the chairman of banco ambrosiano and it happend quite a while ago.To be precise 27 years.

Roberto Calvi was the guy found under Blackfriers Bridge in what was made to look like a Freemason Ritual Murder..Also Robert Maxwell died under mysterious circumstances I,m sorry i have no sympathy when Bankers cop it ..But this guy is a mystery and if it turns out to be just another jilted Love affair then i feel sorry for all the victims in this like honest family members...Peace

  4. Wow i didnt think you could personaly attack somebody on this forum, wonders never cease.does this give every body the right to call somebody realy bad words on here.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm let me see,who is first.

These type of threads always descend into a hate orgy by the anti-Thanksin mobs.

If Thaksin was a member of this forum , most of you lot would be banned for flaming by now.

The internet now allows the peasants to think that they have a voice equal to the people who go out into the world and actually do things. Best con job in ages. Keep on whinging away folks, Thaksin is probably reading this thread now and recanting his lifes' actions because of it.

The Internet also allows the delusional People to carry on thinking they are better than everyone else..I am all for People going out into the world and making a difference . Just as long as they don,t weigh too heavy down upon the shoulders of us mere Peasants... :o

  5. ".......the government must attempt every possible concrete measure to drive the economy ahead in the remaining two months of this year."

This is a time when the Government should retrench. Cut back on public spending and stop any new costly developments.

Closed firms pay no profit taxes. Workers whose jobs have become redundant pay no income tax. The Government's income is on the way down.

What a government might do when going into a short recession of the variety that we have previously seen in our lifetimes would be the wrong response to what is coming now.

IMHO the worst thing you can do is cut back on Government spending at this time. This causes more unemployment and thus less buying power and thus less products are sold and more unemployment follows and so on like a chain reaction i.e. it FEEDS a recession. You need to keep public spending at its current level or even increase it a little as long as it does not increase imports of goods required for such public projects and adversely affect the country's balance of payments . So generally speaking road construction and general public construction will create jobs, create a hopefully better environment (better roads etc), not adversely affect the country's balance of payments and this not make the recession worse. Sensible and well thought out public spending should be a big yes right now and has shown to work in the past in many countries. The way I see it in my lifetime is that it is not a policy encouraged much in right wing corporate run countries where they are glad to bring the labour force to its knees to exploit cheaper labour which is despicable, immoral and anti-social. It is though often employed carefully and successfully in more intelligent politically centre run countries where they have no greed driven hidden agendas.

As to unemployment well my wife's Laundry and friends of mine who run restaurants etc have a job getting staff who are reliable and worth employing. It seems that there must be full employment down here in Chonburi and Rayong as nobody seems concerned at keeping relatively well paid jobs as most of my friends pay higher than standard wages too and give more days off than the norm generally. When Thai staff just suddenly do not turn up at work saying they have taken a few days holiday without even asking beforehand then they of course should lose their jobs and rightly so. We need to see a lot more loyalty and respect for jobs (okay I have always agreed that family comes first but your job a close second) and for employers to ensure in return their staff are looked after well, paid at least the going rate for the job or more, with at least one day off per week and improved working conditions. Any staff who turn up just when they want to and take unauthorised leave need sacking immediately IMHO as they would be in the west AND a lot of Asia too. Maybe some good will come of a bad bad thing in that rising unemployment may make Thai staff more responsible in their jobs as long as it does not make Employers bad in their role by under paying and exploiting the situation, I hate folk who do that to other people, treating them as a resource rather than living breathing human beings. Sorry for rant but I hate extreme capitalism and greed (and extreme Socialism and over the top control) which has led to the situation we now all find ourselves in, and mostly being very sadly suffered by those who were innocent of the greed and incompetence that has caused it. What the World really needs now is more caring and thoughtfulness about it's citizens, and controls and restrictions on those who do not care about anyone other than themselves. Until we do we will continue to have these unnecessary problems causing so much suffering in this blatantly sick selfish World we now live in where Money is now the God.

You are 100% Correct and Bang on the Money (Excuse the Pun) ..You have made the most sense so far ..All this talk about "Its OK it will all be over in 2yrs time" Is naive to say the least ..I really don,t think a lot of people understand the Gravity of the Situation "We Are All In" ..Time and again i have seen on ThaiVisa People turn on one another over all the usual issues ..From using it as a Platform to Highlight ones Personal Advantageous Posistion in life to convieniantly Blaming another Member of society further down the ladder ..I like a lot of other people have always tried to stay clear from Debt and have had very little choice in the Decisions my Government/s have made..We need to understand if we like it or not we are all in this together ..Regardless of Class Race or Political Divide ..This is not a recession happening this is possibly a full blown Depression..The Banks here in the UK & most other Western Countries are making exactly the same Mistakes that the Japanese Banks made in the Asia Crisis ..That was a 18 year Quagmire not a 2 year Oh it will all be over by Xmas affair ...Tough Times ahead folks Pull together or fall apart its our choice ....Peace

  6. :D I think everyone is in a bit of a funk right now ..Thailand or anywhere..Best way to get through it is stop listening to people who tell you How much you should be gaining , and what you should be grabbing at and start thinking how lucky you are .Some people have never been to Thailand and will probably never get the chance. As was mentioned earlier on this Thread ..Familiarity can lead to Boredom ..Best option if this happens is resort to a Mark 1 Bottle of Bacardi .Retire for a few days to a corner of Thailand you are not familiar with ..Then watch a sun set with a big wry smile on your face :D ..And thank Heavens you still have your health and a few baht in your back pocket ..The Mojo always returns its just a matter of waiting .. :o I hope this helps .. :D ....Mike
  7. To be Fair (My Opinion only) France can not really be blamed for slow response or mishandling in this instance ..I think Diana would of gone via the Swiss Alps if thats how long it would of took her to die .A better example would be a average person in the street .But thank you for the information and for being helpful :o

At that time French's SAMU uni stayed to treat Princes Diana at scene for at least 1 hour, and drove 10-20 km/hr to nearby hospital to minimize bumps, also the ambulance stopped along the way many times to do sophisticated treatment to her. If this happens in U.S. she would be already in operation room.

  8. :o I Would seriously like to see a McIntyre Undercover ,style journalist in Thailand following up on all these killings involving Police and Hit men in Thailand as well as the Thaksin Anti drugs campaign and Gem Scam and so on and so forth ..It would also be good to find out the reason why ?? Embassies are NOT Highlighting the Dangers of Traveling in SE Asia ..All seems a bit strange to me someone has not done a Docu on this subject but would rather do one on Mail Order Brides ??
  9. These aren't old posts, but if there is wrong information in them, we'd appreciate your input.... which is most efficiently done by responding to the individual inaccuracy in the particular thread, rather than here.

Thanks k.john, i will follow those thread and respond to them. Basically i'm just an EMT-basic which have minimum knowledge and capability of prehospital care but i am so interested and would be so annoying TAT or Tourist Police that they don't provide information on what to do in an accident or emergencies.

EMS system that running in Thailand right now do not receive money from end customer, but they have funds from the Universal Health Care which is 10 baht per head per population per year. For an example, if Thailand has 40 million people, there would be 400 million baht that goes to the Office of Emergency Medical Services taken care by Universal Health Care, this has been going on for 4 years. For operation cost in each EMS Ambulance centers, after taking care of each patient and complete the patient report form, they get reimbursement from provincial health office: for an ALS unit we get 1,000 baht through its oeperation center (that EMS unit does not receive the money directly), Intermediate unit (EMT basic + EMT - Intermedaite without Paramedic nurse) gets 750 baht, BLS unit gets 500 baht.

    Thanks.

Thankyou Golfja Its nice to see people on here being helpful for a change Khob Khun Krup

    24 June 2005

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

UA-107-2005: THAILAND: Police lodge defamation charges against forensic scientist over "5 bullet suicide" case

THAILAND: Extrajudicial killing; Impunity; Criminal defamation; Challenges to the integrity of forensic science

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    Dear friends,

The Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) is outraged that five Thai police officers have filed defamation complaints against a senior forensic scientist and government bureaucrat following the latter’s comments over an apparent extrajudicial killing which the police have maintained was a suicide. Although all evidence points to the fact that the police killed the victim, they have lodged the defamation complaints in order to 'protect their reputations'.

We ask that you please write to the Minister of Interior expressing your anger at the absurdity of these complaints and the need to withdraw them immediately. Please also voice your strong concern regarding the shameless excesses of power enjoyed by the Thai police, as evident in this case. If such abuses of power by the police are accepted now, then little hope can be held for the future integrity of the forensic profession and its collating of evidence in torture and murder cases.

    Urgent Appeals Desk

    Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC)

    ---------------------------------------------------------

    DETAILED INFORMATION:

On 21June 2005, five officers from the Bang Khunthien police station, in Bangkok, Thailand, filed defamation complaints against Justice Ministry deputy permanent secretary Mr Manit Suthaporn and the Central Institute of Forensic Science’s deputy director, Dr Porntip Rojanasun. The police officers have accused Dr Porntip and Mr Manit of making false statements regarding the police officers’ involvement in the death of Sunthorn Wongdao, during an interview on the iTV programme “Todrahat” on June 18.

Mr Sunthorn Wongdao was found dead in Bang Yai district, Nonthaburi province on May 21, after being surrounded by officers of the Bang Kunthien station, who claimed he had committed suicide before being apprehended. However, the CIFS concluded that neither the condition of the victim's body nor the crime scene suggested a suicide. In fact, the victim had four bullets through his lung and one through his head. The nature of the gunshot wounds suggests that another person fired the bullets at close range. Furthermore, the crime scene had allegedly been tampered with. The body of the victim appeared to have been turned over, and evidence organised to suggest a suicide.

Despite these facts, the Bang Kunthien police reportedly continue to maintain that the killing was a suicide. When Dr Porntip and Mr Manit appeared on iTV on June 18 to comment on the case, they simply countered this assertion by pointing to the facts. The Minister of Justice reportedly backed their shared opinion: he, it has been pointed out, has not been sued.

It is in response to the comments made Dr Porntip and Mr Manit that the five officers, including the superintendent of Bang Kunthien District Police Station, Police Colonel Thirisak Suriwong, have taken the step of filing defamation complaints. The other four officers are reported as being Pol. Capt. Pittaya Singjanusong, Pol. Capt. Pramote Chanbunkaew, Pol. Sgt-Maj. Bunyang Muangkrachang and Pol. Sgt. Sutham Thepraksapan. Pol. Col. Thirisak was reported to have said that the police had a right to protect their reputations.

    ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Thailand's antiquated defamation laws are commonly used by powerful persons and officials to silence dissent and intimidate human rights defenders. The AHRC has previously raised concerns over the case of Supinya Klangnarong, who is being sued by a corporation owned by the family of the prime minister (most recent update: UP-31-2005; see also: AS-38-2005).

In this case, the defamation case is a blatant attempt to intimidate a forensic scientist, and through her, others in her profession, who know a great deal more about investigation of a crime scene than the police. They speak to the resentment that the police have over the small number of independent agencies now operating in Thailand that are able to cast some light on the uncounted numbers of human rights violations they had been free to commit in earlier years. For further comments, see: AS-64-2005 and AS-65-2005.

    SUGGESTED ACTION:

Please write to the Minister of Interior expressing your anger at the absurdity of these defamation complaints and the need to withdraw them immediately. Please also urge that a proper inquiry into the killing be conducted by the Department of Special Investigation under the Ministry of Justice.

    Sample letter:

    ----------------------------

    Dear Pol. Gen. Chidchai

Re: Defamation case lodged against Dr Porntip Rojanasunan and Mr Manit Suthaporn by officers of Bang Kunthien police

I write to express my anger over the defamation complaints lodged against Dr Porntip Rojanasunan, deputy director of the Central Institute of Forensic Science (CIFA) and Mr Manit Suthaporn, deputy permanent secretary of the Ministry of Justice by officers from the Bang Kunthien District Police Station, Metropolitan Police Region 9.

The five officers in question are the superintendent of Bang Kunthien District Police Station, Police Colonel Thirisak Suriwong, and Pol. Capt. Pittaya Singjanusong, Pol. Capt. Pramote Chanbunkaew, Pol. Sgt-Maj. Bunyang Muangkrachang and Pol. Sgt. Sutham Thepraksapan.

You will be aware that the officers have accused Dr Porntip and Mr Manit of making false statements regarding the police officers’ involvement in the death of Sunthorn Wongdao, during an interview on the iTV programme “Todrahat” on June 18. After Dr Porntip and Mr Manit implied during the interview that the victim might have been extrajudicially killed the five police decided to lodge the complaints.

The defamation complaints are absurd and are a blatant attempt at intimidation. They demonstrate the excesses of power that the Royal Thai Police continue to wield and the level of impunity that they enjoy. If officers of the Royal Thai Police are permitted to contest or ignore the opinions of qualified forensic professionals, then what purpose do thorough forensic and criminal investigations serve? The actions by the police in this case must not be tolerated by the government. To do so would be to set a dangerous precedent for future investigations and police involvement in criminal cases.

I call on you to intervene immediately in this case. I ask that you ensure that the five officers withdraw their charges without delay and are subsequently reprimanded for their actions. Their superiors should also be held to account for tacitly approving of the complaints. This case gives your government a clear opportunity to declare its intolerance to such behaviour by the police and to other abuses of power that the police continue to display.

I also urge you to take the necessary steps that the killing of Mr Sunthorn be investigated properly by the Department of Special Investigation rather than the local or regional police.

I look to your intervention in this matter.

    Yours sincerely,

  12. Hi Charles as of this morning 15/05/2007 i received a single entry tourist visa 60 days the option to have a Quad 4 x entries was also available .I wanted to cut copy and paste some information from the Hull website but it is in PDF Format ..So at the end of this post i will just try and provide the link ..I think the confusion lays in a statement on the document that states reason for extended stay in Thailand is now at the immigration officers discretion ..My interpretation of this was that people who have run out of days on their tourist Visa and who want to get extended stay ..i.e move onto 30 plus 30 day or get a extra 15 days for tea money from immigration office may not find it so easy to do so now..( I could be completely wrong about this) .Also Congratulations to Bruce on his Business Venture and at some time i might try to do something similar myself .Although it would be nice to see a bit of solidarity amongst expats on TV something that at times seems to be lacking .I have heard of people on similar threads to this who have actually stayed in neighboring countries and sent their passports back by post to their home country and then got a Tourist Visa then re entered this way but all this seems Dodgy to me ..I hope this has been of some help >>>>>>>>> http://www.thaiconsul-uk.com/pdfs/Ab%20%20...tion%20Pack.pdf

  13. Well lets hope so Gummy but i think he will probably be put into high catergory isolation either way he,s in for a rough ride ..jdinasia ..sbk ..I would feel exactley the same way if he had been white ..ALL or my posts have been in answer to questions relateing to this thread ..i,m not racist i,m jaded ..Black White or Pokerdot it seems an injustice to me when People regardless of there ethnicity get the short end of the stick because some vote catching slick suited spin docter has weighed of cheap labour against other peoples tax contributions and services all this has done has led to a yes man culture where everything gets left on the back burner and nothing ever gets resolved..I know this is a touchy subject as some (not all) are facing uncertain times in LOS ..Kindly do not take your angst out on me ..I wish all of you well regardless of ethnicty ..Its just my feelings that we can all play the shell game but sooner or later everything has to be approached better sooner than later on some issues i think ...This is the last time i,m gonna reply on this Thread ..so it should be easy to come and do a character assasination i respect the moderators wish,s even if i don,t agree with them

Chok Dee have a good one :o

  14. :D I seem to remember The Previous Post on MR Rahan Arshad and his sick antics being closed down because it seemed to offend those that rallied to his cause because he was being victimized because of his ethnicty ..Well my question is now the verdict is in where are you all now ??? .. care to comment ??..I for one would like to see him smoke a turd for all eternity in the fires of hel_l ..and even though the court said in his case life means life i very much doubt it as the Prisons are full now mostly due to the Goverment loseing a grip on the Migration Problem .He will Probably do 7yrs then get let out given a bus pass and relocated into a spanking new Flat located close to a school somewhere ..courtesy the British Tax Payer ..If this sounds a bit hard line Tough titty live with it or remove it which is what the PC Caveat will probably do anyway

    Chok Dee :o

What has this case got to do with the (as you call it) 'migration problem' ??

Its Quite simple really The Uk is a small Island Already Maxed out at Full Capacity on issues such as Social Services NHS Health care Policeing the Community Affordable Housing ..Open the Flood gates to Migrants Legal or otherwise who for the most part have very little to offer (not all that is) ..combine this with mixed attitudes towards religion work ethos and general day to day behaviour and you get a tightly crammed population half of which now may think its ok to commit honour killings like MR Rahan Ashad ..or circumcise women against their will or sacrafice young children in the river Thames to some Nigerian Voodoo mumbo Jumbo ..Doubtful any of these attitudes were picked up from Sunday school ..Don,t get me wrong i,m all for people seeking out a better chance in life but its simply a case of there,s no room left in the Inn anymore ..If you want to see where the UK,s heading look back at New York late 60,s early 70,s ..There was a open door policy on migration there as well ..end result it almost went bankrupt the welfare state all but collapsed with most service workers being laid off and the Birth of the Harlem Ghetto,s ..say helloo to the new UK 20 or 30 years from now

    Enough said

  16. I often wonder if these Adviseries and Warnings are often used as ways and means of settling old scores in cross border negotiations behind closed doors in the murky world of shadow politics.Someone stated earlier on this Thread that the Aus Dollar was down against the Thai Baht ..Maybe some one in the Aus Govt thought it would be a good idea to give Their Patriots that are already there a extra heads up regards safety and at the same time deter any others from going there in the Hope the Money will be spent on Holidays back in the Homeland Whilst also sticking it to the Thai Govt over some issue the rest of us are oblivious to (Maybe a Prisoner release/ exchange or Trade deal gone bad) ..I remember a time when these Travel Adviseries were taken Seriously (BBC Teletext and Ceefax service) ..Now When you read them then go to the trouble of doing a google search or are familiar with area they seem pretty understated ..It strikes me Most Goverments are not really concerned about anyones safety ..We only have to look at the current situation with the 5 Brits that have been Kidnapped in Ethiopia ..I,m not sure on this but i beleive the only reason there is a big stink is because they are embassey staff ..I think if it was someones 2 sons that had been kidnapped from the Chip shop down the road very little would of been heard about it unless a Journo turned it into a sensationlist story and it couldn,t be ignored any longer.Bottom line i think is that a WARNING is a WARNING regardless the Motives behind it and in the Interests of SAFETY .It would be the wise choice to be that little bit extra careful.Especially People that have their Families their .I know there,s a lot of If,s Buts and Maybe,s in what i,ve just wrote but this is how i feel these days in world gone insane ... .... :o ..Anyone who reads this and who is out there ...Stay Safe and Be Lucky .... :D ..PEACE ..out

  17. Anyone know where I can buy some of that MST Continus? My back is a little sore today along with an arse ache from my boss.

On a serious note. I do like the fact that antibiotics are sold over the counter in LOS. I carry a 10 day supply of wide spectrum anti-biotics whenever I travel. In the US it costs hundreds of dollars to get an appointment and prescription for simple anti-biotics. Big racket and waste of time and $$$. On the downside antibiotics are all too often routinely dispensed for everything, including viruses for which they are useless, causing new strains of bacteria to become resistant. I believe the selling of anti-biotics over the counter in LOS will soon disappear.

As for the Swede. Do not know enough about his case. If it was to truly help others then I applaud his effort, even if illegal. Similar to the many samaritans who are routinely arrested in the US for dispensing clean syringes to drug addicts.

Helping those less fortunate is something we should all include in our daily routine of life.

I,m with you on the Racket issue and how costly Drugs can be ..But sadly the reason Antibiotics are controlled in the West more is because Different varieties of Antibiotics are becoming less effective on different strains of illness ... People that our abuseing Antibiotics by takeing them for nothing more than a common cold are scotching things for the rest of us .. Its becoming increasingly hard to combat illness because collectively we are becoming immune to our own Antibiotics because too many other people have already introduced then into the system to early or needlessly ..Its good idea to have them on you for emergencies when travelling but sadly by the time you get round to actually needing them you may find they will no longer be effective

If this Swede guy is indeed innocent i hope he gets let off soon and publicy apologised to just my 2 Bahts worth
