    Western vs Asian sizing…

WRT Uniqlo…even though it’s a different style…here is a size comparison photo between a Ralph Lauren T-shirt purchased from the Ralph Lauren website in the US. (size XL Tall (not XL Big)) and a Uniqlo XL purchased in the store in BKK.  Even the RL slim fit shirts are like tents compared to Uniqlo.

Thanks but not interested in T-shirts.

  2. Guys,

I am trying to find decent mens shirts, ideally made in 100% Cotton as they are lighter and cooler in this humidity. All I seem to see wherever I go is these lumberjack type pattern check shirts, I tried one or two Tailors but they want 1500bt and up which I am not prepared to pay for an everyday shirt. Where are you guys getting your shirts? I also looked on Lazada but their sizing is obviously Asian and too small. I need about 46 chest. in a plain color or may be something other than damn check.

    Any suggestions and help ?

    Thanks

He is wrong. It makes no difference what that the non-o visa was based upon when it was issued. The only thing required to do the application the application is a non immigrant visa.

People have done the extension application based upon being the parent of a Thai when they were on an extension based upon marriage and many others have used non-o visas issued for retirement to apply a for extension based upon marriage and being the parent of Thai.

With a letter from the embassy to support your application you could apply for a 2nd 60 day extension to visit you child under this allowance written in the immigration order for extension. Some offices already issued a 2nd extension.

"5. In the case where an alien applicant does not meet the full qualifications stipulated by the criteria herein or in other cases not specified in this Order but a competent officer equivalent to or higher than inspector is of the opinion that the alien has legitimate reason for staying in the Kingdom of Thailand, the application shall be forwarded to the Commander of the Royal Thai Police or an authorized competent officer for further consideration of the alien's application."

Has you wife been in touch with the Thai embassy where she is at to apply for a certificate of entry that will allow to board a repatriation flight to here? At this time that is the only was she will be able to enter the country.

Hi Ubonjoe, thanks for your reply again. I will try get an Embassy letter and make another attempt to immigration. Hopefully there is someone higher authority be my savior of the day. My wife has book a flight. Hopefully she is in the right process. She can be quite confusing person sometimes.

Sad state of affair but yes maybe desperate times call for desperate action. Corruption is a sad thing. 19 september the masses will gather & speak out against the government. I'd say next week long term tourist/expats in country should gather & speak put against them being sidestepped by the just approved 9 months 'special' tourist visa plan while already existing visa(s) (rules) aren't being honored i.e. multi entry visas, retiree visas, business visas etc.

Perhaps the border post would be appropriate meeting spot?

19 Sept you mean the youth masses? I don't know what they call.

I think foreigners are not in a position for this activities. We are lovely people. We love everyone. ☺️

I am still waiting that the govt will bring some hope for us. ????

I'm much newer to this but I'm here on a Multi O spouse that doesn't expire till March 2021. Yet ... unusable as far as I know. Someone said "go to border get stamp" but I asked again in PM and it was like they said it as if "i wish". I've talked to lawyers who don't know about the border even though they admit it could be an option ... very vague.

I've spent time during the confusion getting the house book and alien id card, then from that was able to get Bank account. Now putting money in ... but I've also <deleted> away my 60 day extension trying to "do the right thing" and last time they were all for it. I think they looked at me like an idiot fronting up with no bank account to get another extension.

So now I'm just trying to do anything and yes, I'll pay the "agent tax" but preferably I'll use some service to use the correct methods.

Things that have been offered up (no I'm not saying where):

Medical 90 day visa - Heard that time is running short on that.

Change to Retirement Extension 1 yr with no need for a bank balance - what concerns me with that, seems legal ... but then what if you get audited and it gets cancelled because not enough in bank? Various mentions of something like that. That cancellation can't look good when later try again to do the proper 1 year married extension - that's what I want to get. Does your past variations of visas make the IO officers see you in a lesser way? Any opinions?

PM me "Alittleguy" and I'll talk - you started thread. I'm just researching for myself by no means do I have experience but its getting more and more that its not criminal to use agents by most peoples opinion and by others it is. So I'm going to various lawyers to find out what really is and isn't considered criminal - maybe those immigration lawyers are just a kind of agent and its a pointless thing to ask the dealer if the product is authentic/legal/safe.

When I got married, in Bangkok, registered as married that is ... well i went again and again but I was a fool. You go super early and probably agents took all the days "appointments" and you need translators. So i hired them, they were my translator, gave me the appointment - it was legal as far as I could see. If its not they should police the "giving out appointments". I've learned that different cultures have different logic - its best not to speak badly of what is simply another cultures approach. People have jobs, once there is some kind of incentive and streamlined agent model ... its peoples jobs and there is probably a middle way between corruption and efficiency. Frankly showing up lost and confused slows them down and agents accommodate efficiency - of course it can create bias, problems - but its their system to manage that and keep it reasonable.

So I'm meeting people swiftly and yes, of course it might just be another July where you panic and them bazinga another extension. That's a gamble and some lawyers like to point out its not really for the Non-O types this amnesty - which I now find myself in for 1 day so far. However, if you use Non-O spouse multi visa you are a kind of hybrid between multi tourist and ... yes, you can stay often because you are a spouse. Is the multi just a bridge until you get the 1 year? Well maybe but I have a 1 year multi ... first one. Surely that means they predict you might take all year to get your affairs in order and decide you really want a long term extension.

Then there is the "this panic is sewn to rattle people into getting on the books one way or another". That means, agents, or just proper applications you figure out are there for you or lawyers that show the way. I've really been too slow I guess due to the amnesty bringing some complacency or thinking "they'll come up with a solution for us multi visa" its like nah mate - we gotcha - your multis worthless here at the local offices - that's the border stuff. We made that with strict have to go out every x days ... not oh unless there is pandemic, then its cool. I guess they want you to apply for the "correct" visa whatever that is.

Yup, of course the immigration has no obligation to our request. But knowingly that a crisis is here. Probably they can lenient a little bit. Some people have all official paperworks but may not have 400,000bht in bank. They actually can overlook the money requirement. Or like my case switching from marriage visa to parent of Thai child visa. The paperworks all almost the same. Was thinking why can't they give a helping hand at this covid-19 period when they are aware crossing borders is a issue now?

Today I talk to my wife, "I have feeling that I and our child is going out Thailand 26 September. We won't know when can we be back."

My wife feeling disturbed, :"The govt really kicking you out? Elsewhere are extending for the foreigners and my country is kicking my husband out?"

    Lol~~

And my daughter also said: "if papa don't get the visa, I will miss my studies"

She loves going to school. But what to do, when we have to leave, we must leave.

  6. Good evening everyone,

i have posted my issue before and would like advice from the experts again.

I have a non-imm O marriage visa from Thai consulate (Lao) and it has expired in August 2020 (last month).

I actually went to immigration (CW) last month before my visa ends ,hoping to apply for 1 year extension of stay but as Father of thai child instead of Thai wife because my spouse has been stuck oversea till now since the covid-19 outbreak. My wife has book flight several times but was cancelled for the past months.

Not sure will my wife able to come back next month.

I explained to the IO and hoping that the officer will be lenient due to the present situation is not normal due to the virus outbreak that the officer will accept my marriage visa application change to Father of thai child visa. Unfortunately the officer seems no intention of providing assistance to me regardless I have kid here.

And one reason the IO reject my case because at my visa stamp, the Savannaketh Thai consulate officer wrote (Thai wife visa) hence not able to change to Father of thai child.

Currently I have used up the 60 days extension and my current status is under the amnesty extension.

I have requested for an embassy letter and waiting for their reply but I think the embassy letter is not really useful to me and embassy letter is still subjected to IO's decision.

I would like to know has anyone tried successfully switching thai wife visa to Father of thai child 1 year extension of stay? Any real experience who can aid to my case? Should I visit the immigration again to review my case and if necessary appeal to the higher authority of the Thai immigration?

I have all the paperworks (originals) and the 400,000baht ready except my wife is not present.

I was told that my wife needs to be here or 26 Sept I needs to leave Thailand. I am quite sadden by current predicament that I have stay here for 8 years and decided to reside here permanently although i am not a citizen here yet. And the sudden outbreak forcing me to leave here.

Some people mentioned that the non-imm O visa is a loophole that we has been exploiting it and we have to blame ownself for choosing this visa without applying for the 1 year extension of stay. I personally don't see this visa as kind of loophole. It just providing this group of visa holders to travel in/out Thailand

conveniently. And nobody have problem using this visa during the normal period. And this visa is fully approved by the Thai immigration regardless the visa is from Savannaketh Laos or other countries.

If they want to talk about loopholes, it should be those "agents". I choose not to use agent because I want to stay here legally and comfortably with no guilty conscience. Some agents are helping your paperworks and some agents can magically help you to get a visa.

I am greatly affected that they don't help for genuine cases but accepting those agent cases with profit 30,000-70,000baht quoted from some Op (not sure does the IOs benefited)

Anyway I think they won't lengthen the amnesty extension, have to prepare for the worst.

I and my child have to leave here temporarily, her studies have to come to a halt as well.

Still hoping the govt will make some lenient ways for cases stucking in the middle of nowhere situation.

We willing to pay for any immigration fees accordingly and not asking for F.O.C amnesty extension.

    11 days to go.

Anyone has good advice please share with me. Thank you

    Good day.

  7. Pray hard that they will be kind again to give us another extension.

Like some posters mentioned everyone has their own difficulty of not able to extend their visa including me.

Trying to switch from non imm marriage to father of Thai child but was rejected. Understand the immigration regulation but somehow my personal issue has cause my present plight.

So it's either they are kind enough to permit us another amnesty or September I and my Thai child is gonna leave Thailand.

Your visas expiration date means nothing after you are in the country. It is only the last day you can use it to enter the country to get new 90 day entry.

You can apply for the one year extension of stay based upon marriage at any time now if you can meet the financial requirements.

But the immigration office you have to apply at may refuse to do it since you are now on a automatic extension under the amnesty. Not correct but not much you can do about it,

    Thanks Ubonjoe,

in this case I will go CW in mid august as next week probably is still early stage of the amnesty period so maybe as what you said, they may not want to process my application.

Hopefully the officers will be lenient on us in this difficult crisis period and grant us an extension.

  9. Dear all, i need the experts advice here. Read some of the posters's experience, i'm getting worry that I may mess up my chance for extension of visa.

Please advice me when should i apply my extension of stay.

    1. I have non-imm O multiple visa (expiring in mid August)

    2. Wanted to apply a 1 year extension of stay months ago but ended got a 60 days extension. And my 60days extension already finished in this month but as the amnesty is extended hence I did not go to the immigration office.

    3. My non-imm O visa expire in mid August.

My concern is when should i apply my 1 year of extension?

As my non-imm O visa expires mid august, do I have to apply 15 days before the visa stamp expires in mid August? I should go in first week of August?

Or can I apply any time after mid August to end August even though my visa stamp already expired, it will not affect my 1 year extension application?

The latest immigration information is allow us to apply before the amnesty period ends. But not sure must we need to apply before our visa stamp expires?

Unless CV19 has been totally eradicated that will be the absolute minimum required to enter Thailand.

If they open the borders and still enforcing the covid-19 medical cert and insurance requirement. Then i think I will be in trouble. By law, I needs to fly out and get a new stamp. But I don't think I can get the medical cert and insurance. Basically i am been denied entering Thailand if this law is still ongoing.

I hope the immigration will take consideration for the non-imm O holders. We are staying in Thailand. We needs a stamp out and we will be back living here.

    be lenient on us.

You have a permission to stay valid until 31st July based on the automatic extension.

If (big if) you are able to leave Thailand and return before the August expiry of your multiple entry Non O visa, you will be given a fresh 90-day permission to stay upon entry.

The conditions that will be required for visas (whether in Savannakhet or anywhere else) after August is totally unpredictable. Hopefully, requirements for visas and entry into Thailand will become clearer as Thailand prepares to admit certain foreigners on a limited basis, perhaps starting as early as the July/August time frame. I believe it overly optimistic to expect a sudden return to conditions as they were before the Covid-19 epidemic.

I guess have to wait and see near July. Hopefully they will lift the covid-19 medical certificate and medical insurance for entering Thailand by then.

  12. Hi everyone,

I have 60 days of extension due on 30 June.  The latest amnesty given to all visa till 31 July.  I am allow till 31 July in Thailand without doing anything right? My visa stamp from Savannakhet expire Aug.

Would like to know two scenarios.

    A) I able to fly out and in before original stamp date 30 June. Will they give me another 90 days when I reenter Thailand?

    B)  If I allow to fly out by 31 July.  But my passport stamp already due on 30 June.  Will I able to come in with another 90 days base on my non-imm O visa inside my passport still valid till August?  Or must I have to apply a new visa at Savannakhet again? (current visa expire August)

Lastly,  what's document needed for non-imm O visa as Father of Thai child applying at Savannakhet Laos?

May Ubonjoe or any other familiar with immigration advise me? Thanks alot.

  13. Really confusing.

My visa non-imm O marriage ends aug 2020.

I just went to immigration and gotten 60 days extension of stay.

60 days extension of stay due 30 June 2020. So am I included in the amnesty 31 jUly 2020?

do I need to report my 90 days?

Or do I have to go back immigration before 30 June 2020 for another extension? The embassy covid-19 letter of extension?

    Please enlighten me. Thankss.

    1. I suggest you get the 60 day extension first.

Under number 3 of the memorandum for the special extensions it may be possible to get another 60 day extension.

    2. As long as needed.

    3. Your visa expiring has nothing to do with extensions of a permit to stay.

    4. You could apply for a one year extension of stay based upon marriage. You would need 400k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months or proof of 40k baht income.

    Thank you very much, ubonjoe

  15. Hi, anyone here who can offer good advice to me. Thanks in advance

I quite confused and just to make sure I going through tthe proper steps. Have few questions.

1.People mention non-O multi can apply for 60days extension. OR they also can apply for the 30days extension of stay (with embassy's letter) due to the covid-19.

So which one should i apply first? If i apply the 30days, after that can i still apply for 60days extension of stay? Or I apply for the 60days extension, can i still apply for that 30days (embassy's letter) later? or we can only choose to appply either one of it only?

    2. 30days extension of stay (embassy's letter) can use how many time to extend? can request for the letter every 30days stamp expire?

    3. Non-o multi visa expire in August. Will the immigration extend my stay continuouslyt till August to the date my visa ends?

    4. If to the worst case, all ways of getting extension of stay is used. What other application can use to avoid leaving Thailand?

Can I apply for thai child visa INSIDE THAILAND? WHat's the requirement for it? WHat does i need for this application?

Is there any recent non-o extender? can share his experience. Thanks!
