Normally an agent would only obtain a reentry permit if you requested one.

    Yes it's a separate stamp.

Takes half a page. Hard to miss

Here is pic of my Multiple reentry permit.

Obviously a single has "Single Entry"

Ok thanks i just found that in my old passport with expiry December 2023 mine is a single but will hopefully be returning in the next week.

As long as you have both passports, and return before the expiry date specified on your re-entry permit, there should be no issue with the airline or airport immigration.

Since you, presumably, intend applying for a further extension of your permission to stay, it will be important that your girlfriend does a TM30 notification.

Ok will get the TM30 sorted thanks.A re entry permit that will be a separate stamp in passport?

Am I right in thinking I was automatically given just the one exit/ re entry when I got my retirement visa last year?.I am back in Uk and will return soon

Sounds very much that you used an agent.

In any event no issue to return to Thailand with both passports.

BTW: If you did in face use an agent you will need to use agent for your next 12 month extension.

Yes I used an agent and will use agent for next extension.I applied for my first retirement visa last November but because my old passport expires this December had it explained to me I could not get the full 15 months so I lost something like 2-3 months.

    Just fly with both passports.

When you state the you got a "retirement via" you mean that you obtained a non O retirement and subsequent extension?

Did you obtain a reentry permit prior to leaving Thailand

Yes I think that’s it.I sorted my retirement visa whilst in Pattern. It is my first one 12+3  so 15 months altogether was how it was explained to me . The re entry permit I think I automatically have one that comes with the Visa?.I was offered to buy a multiple one but I knew I was only going to do one exit then re entry. Does that sound right?

  5. Hi I will be returning to Thailand soon after being away for about 7 weeks. While I was last there I got my first retirement visa with just the one exit. While back in the UK I got my new passport.I assume I can re enter ok on my retirement visa that doesn’t expire till December? I assume that check in desk staff will be ok with that as I will have just a one way ticket flight not a return?

Also would a TM 30 be required? Before I have stayed in hotels but this time will be staying with girlfriend in Pattaya.

    Thanks.

  6. So last week opened my first Thai Bank account.I feel that I will probably go ahead and do the retirement visa through the agent. So I have put so far about 32k baht in my account  that can be used to pay the agent.Only thought about it after but they have to have my bank book to do this and confirmed this with the agent and they have it for 2 days.Apparently the 800k is not in there for a long time

So my question is should I be confident with 10k + baht in my account while this is carried out because I want to use my new bank account to fund my stay while they have my passport.I do have an ATM card to withdraw my own money.Previously have been using my passport to change travellers cheques and collect money from Western Union I have sent myself.

    Thanks

I had to give Immi a bank statement from that same day and they also requested Wise receipts that added up to the 800k, which you can download from the Wise app. this is where they get their evidence you transferred from OS rather than the bank

Do you mean that you transferred the money over in smaller denominations and not all as one?

  8. Ok so this week I will be thinking of giving passport to visa agent to start the process of retirement visa (15 months).

Been told could be without passport for about 3 weeks.

    1. My Uk Passport finishes in December 2023 and looking to go back to the uk in About April time.Think I might be in Uk for 3 to 4 months.Yes I realise I lose a bit of money there in the cost of retirement visa when I actually will be in the Uk.But loose ends need to be tied up.I will obviously apply to get a new passport while there. So when I come back to Thailand I assume I travel with old and new passport. Will I get entry ok when I show immigration my old passport with retirement visa.Once back in Thailand do I have to do something to get retirement visa put in my new passport?

    2. I did think I was initially going to have the multiple entry visa that gives me maximum flexibility.Quote for this is extra 4000 baht.I am not really sure of what happens if I just have the single entry one and then do some entry and exits of Thailand. Not sure what the process is do i pay something like 1000 baht fine or something like that to Airport immigration?

    Thanks

  9. So my last covid extension stamp in passport is due to expire 21st October.Been reading this forum to get some ideas and also have made enquiries in Pattaya.

    1. Visa 2 Britain  the  visa offices in the corner next to Jomtien Immigration quoted 5500 baht.

    2. Contact number from Maneerat visa agents.Got quoted 3000 baht. Then told would have to pay a further 1500 at the border. Not really sure who to.

Checked out 2 visa offices on Soi Buakhao.

    3. Cambodia Inter tour and travel limited.Lady in office says border run 3000 baht. Then man in next desk leans over and says and 1500 to be paid at border. So full price 4500.

    4. L. R travel service they have visa price notice so take photo. Was told that is all inclusive price nothing else to pay.

So there you have it.Would be good to have feedback from anyone who has done a border run yet and what they actually paid. Two of the quotes it seems we have to pay someone at the border other quotes it is all taken care of in the price.

With respect, before moving to Cambodia, I made many crossings from Thailand and I was never charged an  inflationary price for a visa. Always the official 30$ in cash (there is usually an ATM in the vicinity). For reference:-

Complete an application form, present with your passport, a passport sized photo and cash for the fee for a Visa on Arrival which is US$30 for a tourist visa and US$35 for business visas. You must pay in US dollars in cash.

And the local ATM gives out US Dollars?

Do a border bounce by land, avoiding Poipet/Aranyaprathet. If you risk a visa exempt entry by air again, you will probably be OK, but there is a realistic chance you could be denied entry. Alternatively, get a tourist visa. That will make a denied entry, even by air, very unlikely, but still conceivable at some airports.

Hi Tim was not familiar with those place names before but on checking I see they are close to each other for the border run.If not those two then what is the preferred Cambodian border run town/city to do then that doesn’t give a problem.

    Thanks.

He obtained under consideration ~ Aug 14 and asked to return for stamp Sept 14.

His final stamp will take him till ~ October 14.

BTW OP, the reason you "lost" the week you refer to by going week prior to expiry of your previous permit is that it was your first CE and many offices were starting the 60 from date of application for the first CE.

Ok just to give some feedback as I assume there will be others who will be getting the last covid extension stamp soon.I did go a day earlier 13th than my stamp in passport 14th.They kept the passport gave me a ticket and told me to collect the next day with new date stamp.Collected all ok.

    Thanks all.

why do you want to go earlier?

from what I understand from other members here is when you get the under consideration stamp you're guaranteed the extension, you just have to go and get the stamp.

I've gotten quite a few extensions and they always gave me the extensions stamp after under consideration stamp, so I don't think you'll have any issues. I always just went on the day they asked me to go on though

You didn’t take any additional paperwork or fee just your passport?

  14. 1 hour ago, DrJack54 said:

You would not be on overstay.

Having said that you did not mention outline any reason for not attending immigration on stamped return date.

    Not a big deal.

No big reason would just feel more comfortable seeing the new date in my passport.Once I get the stamp in passport will then be paying some more days in advance to the hotel I am staying at.At the moment paid until 14th.If I get stamp on 13th can pay in advance for more days.

  15. 1 hour ago, BritTim said:

You may or may not get the final stamp going a day or two early. It depends on whether all the paperwork from above endorsing the extension has been returned yet. It is even conceivable that you might be told you need to wait longer if you go on September 14th.

How would I be able to wait longer? September 14th is in my passport if I don’t get another longer dated stamp I am then on overstay or have to leave?

  16. Stamp in Passport(under consideration)says 14th September .Can I go Monday 12th or Tuesday 13th bit earlier. This has been my only one Covid extension I have had as before was on an extension to a visa exempt.I technically lost a week when first applied for this as I went early and that week did not get added on but my Covid extension started then.

    Thanks

That makes sense, that’s why they ask me for a plane ticket too, because I’ve been here for around 12 months now on covid extensions. Seems reasonable in my opinion, I don’t mind getting a plane ticket and just changing it, I have to return eventually anyways.

So every time you have gone to immigration for an extension you have had a plane ticket ready to go before your last passport stamp expires?

I think for Thai and Eva air date changes is about £170 which is about 7200 baht

    From the OP....

"Previously on my visits to Thailand the most I have ever stayed is 7 weeks all done on tourist visas."

    Does not have bank account.

Never planned to open one previously it would seem.

Unless he is planning 6 month in/out (snowbird) then yes better options than extensions to a non O based on retirement.

I had tried twice on different holidays to open bank account with Bangkok bank in Pattaya. Both times near end of holiday and had been told it wasn’t going to be thousands of baht with that insurance thing. Both times think I was told 4-5000 baht when actually in the bank so said to myself maybe open one next time ????.
