There is no quarantine on Samui according to news articles today, where the president of the Tourism Association of Koh Samui says that everyone who visits the island has to register with the Samui Health Pass application to answer risk assessment for Covid-19, and scan a QR code while using services on Koh Samui.

Sick. I can’t believe everyone is obeying this <deleted> without resistance.

Thai people and tourists in Samui are most likely the most stupidest people in Thailand.

But I see this coming everywhere and then I surely go to a country without this madness!

Can't you just get a new passport? Tell your embassy that yours has been lost/stolen, and if necessary give them details of where it is and why.

Sorry if that has been suggested and answered already.

I am in contact with them.

    My last straw.

    But not much hope.

If I were OP I would try the tourist police and tell them your story as they are more falang friendly then the normal city cops. It wouldn't hurt.

I had Tourist police contacted before everything.

It was a small boy, afraid to talk to the real police and to the rental guy. He never really translated what I said to them, too scared!

When the police don’t care or will not take any interest it really does make things difficult/impossible ,,,been in a similar situation with the police my self recently trying to get them to arrest somebody who stabbed me-and the only option I could see was to get a lawyer to accompany you to the police station to get them to take it more seriously,,,,,,this obviously costs you more money and I decided it’s not worth the cost and hassle. I could not be bothered and just gave up.

And this is why I will leave Thailand and will recommend anyone to not come here.

You get stabbed and police do not care.

If it would be other way around, Farang stabbing Thai, the Thai Media would be all over it, the Farang going to jail and probably get killed there.

I knew before they have some racism going on against Europeans, but now after I seen that even the Police participate in that and show no heart, I can’t stand supporting this country anymore.

I am sick of all the fake smiles too. I hate fake people.

So I will leave asap and will never come back. Story already shared with many friends, they will not come back to Thailand, too.

And my bad rating really looks ugly on his google page. I hope at least he will lose customers because of that and will maybe learn that honest longterm business is more profitable in the end.

Like I've said twice already, get another 2 quotes elsewhere. Go to the police and file a report he is trying to scam you

How should I get a quote based on two pictures?

He claimed the bike was repaired already.

When I was at Police Station, I told everyone he is a scammer and a criminal and Police should care about this.

They did not care. What should I do more? I feel helpless.

And yes I am pretty young. Travelled a lot and always took care, but this time I just put trust because the rental guy was recommended

to me and police told me I don’t need to pay anything.

  6. I think this discussion show one thing:

The legal system in Thailand is not like in our home country, this bill would be smashed by any police officer.

But nothing we or I can do about that.

Any negotiations with the rental guy failed. The police don’t want to help me to get my passport back. Most likely they will get some tea money from the rental guy.

The guy who made the accident will never ever pay me one Baht.

So I am just <deleted>, because I made several mistakes:

    1. Giving him my passport just because the longlivinghere Farang girl owner of my rental place told me she never had problems.

    2. Not asking the police to document the damages on the bike, because they told me I don’t need to pay anything.

    3. Let the rental guy picking up the bike, again just because police told me I don’t need to pay anything.

    So lessons learned:

    1. Never ever handout your passport

    2. After accident even if I am shocked let Police document everything of the damages.

    3. Don’t trust the police guys know what they are talking about.

Expensive lesson. Don’t care too much about the money, more about that this scammer will get it. I still have a lot of hate against him, but again what should I do?

Thanks for all answers, you can leave this thread open for further discussion but I lost any hope that something happen will get me around these <deleted> 74.000 Baht.

He has a new headlight on his list 5360bht is headlight smashed

He has a lot on this list that was not damaged.

And as I mentioned before, all the parts on this fake bill for Ninja250, while the machine was a Z300.

But again, what should I do when the Police do not care?!

Looks like you are being scammed with that long list. Maybe try contacting one of the news outlets like "Pattaya News" good story, "somchai tries to scam foreigner with sky high bill"

Get a second and third quote. It looks road worthy. Even if you rent it for another day. Then offer the average of the two

He took the bike already long time ago.

i said nothing because after the accident at the police station they told me don’t worry I don’t need to pay anything

  9. 20 minutes ago, taotoo said:

It looks like 2 parts need replacing but they've quoted for 70?

Exactly what I said at the police station.

The rental guy just said „yeah yeah outside but u don’t know what’s inside“

And as I mentioned before, machine was a Z300 but the bill is for parts of Ninja250.

Again, no one cared at police station

  10. So the following thing happened:

We had a meeting with Thai accident guy and Thai motorbike rental guy at the police station.

They said I need to pay and get it back from the Thai guy.

I said i will never get it back from the Thai guy and that the money is was too much (the motorbike rental guy now came with a bill of 74.000 Baht ????????

I said the bill is from a friend of him and they share the profit. The damage to the bike was maybe like 7.400, not 74.000.

    No one cared.

I insisted that the guy who made accident should pay him then.

Actually then they really made an agreement that the Thai accident guy give his bike to the rental owner and that’s how the bill is paid.

They even signed a document about this.

I was surprised and wanted my passport back. Funny thing is the police told the rental owner to give it back and he refused. He said he wanna wait. For what? I don’t know.

I insisted again, no one cared.

Next morning he writes me message that I need to pay everything.

I asked what is about the bike from the other guy? He said nothing.

He threatened me that he go to a lawyer, will keep my passport and that I will get problems at the boarder. I can’t leave the country in the next days.

I have no <deleted> idea what to do now.

Its not even about the 74.000 Baht, it’s about my self-esteem. I never let anyone scammed me before my whole life.

And why I gave him my passport?

We rented a scooter before from him, he just wanted 3.000 baht deposit.

Every place in Pai wanted a passport deposit for big bike.

And the UK lady who is owner of my House I rent she said she never had any problems before with him, I asked her before I rented the big bike.

Any true last advices or I just need to pay this <deleted> scammer now?

    <Reported threat removed>

I hate this situation. Normally I never ever would give my passport. But I thought after all this I can trust. Lesson learned.

Ah yes and I contacted a lawyer, he wanted to have 20.000 for a lawyer letter outside of court.

But he said the chance for success of this is really low and if we go in front of court, it’s not worth the money.

The embassy said the same, I should just pay him. Really, if you think troll or don’t believe me I can post screenshots.

  11. Hi guys,

three days ago I had a motorbike accident with a bigger bike.

I drove the main road and one high/drunk/stupid Thai guy came from a small soi, somehow did not see me and just drive exactly in front of me.

    Total crash.

Luckily almost nothing happened to me, I could easily be dead.

I waited for the police and we went to police station.

They filled a report and to my surprise they write that it’s not my fault at all, which is correct, and that the Thai guy made the mistake leading to the accident.

    So far, so good.

But now the owner of the motorbike rental said the Thai guy has no money. I tried to talk with him but his English so bad, my Thai gf talked with him.

She said that the rental guy said something about 50.000 Baht and that WE should contact the Thai guy who made the accident and come with him to the rental place tomorrow.

First of all, i will not do this. I don’t have any claim against the Thai accident guy, the owner of the rental store has. He need to get the money from him, not me.

Furthermore I know already how this scam will continue.

Tomorrow morning I will arrive at the motorbike rental, demanding my passport and my money back.

The owner of the rental will refuse.

I know it will happen like this, otherwise it would make no sense that the owner told my gf that the other Thai guy has no money and it’s around 50.000 Baht.

So what should I do now?

    Contact Tourist Police?

Contact the embassy of my country because the rental owner will most most likely not giving me back my passport?

Please help me, if I go there tomorrow and the rental guy will act as expected, I will explode, punch him and end in prison.

Bitkub is great. Limits for non residents who can only pass lower level KYC. It’ll need to go to a bank account in your name in Thailand. Therein lies the problem. That’s the bigger question. From what I hear it’s hit or miss and depends on bank to bank, you’ll need to shop around personally.

No problem, I have plenty of time. I will check to get the bank account, I just need my passport?

So I can open Bitkub account with residency country in Europe? How are the limits then?

  13. Hi,

I plan to cash out some million Bahts to a Thai Bank account so I can buy a house.

Can I open myself a bank account in Thailand? I am non-resident in Thailand and have no residence anywhere in the world.

If yes, will it be easy to cashout? They ask many questions? What they want for proof of money origin?

Can I cashout to the bank account of my girlfriend? She is a student and never received big money before, they will make her problems? The money will get freezed? If she tell it's for her foreigner boyfriend, problem? If she tell it's from her own Bitcoin investments years ago, problem?

In my home country I know any laws about that but here in Thailand I just don't know. Would be happy if anyone could help me.

  14. Hi,

I arrived in Thailand on the 24th of March on visa exempt entry.

My current visa would end on 22nd of April.

Now my Visa is automatically extended until end of April.

IF automatic extension will stop then, can I still apply for full 30 days extension after that? Because I did not used any normal extension until now.

Or do I even need to go to immigration office to have a normal extension now, because I still have a normal extension „open“?
