Because as it was said repetedly over and over again, being fully vaccinated doesn't grant you immunity to the COVID-19, it merely boosts your immune system fighting the disease the next time you catch it (again).
And by the look of things, it seems there is always a next time, it's like catching herpes, it's a gift that keep on giving... we all should be prepared to get used to live with COVID-19 because it ain't going nowhere and no amount of vaccination or social distancing or washing your hands, etc, etc, is going to change that.
It's a survival out there, adapt and learn to live with it or else...
What is even MORE worrying is that there are still people out there who don’t understand the mechanics of vaccination. How many times do we have to say vaccinations do NOT stop you catching COVID,? Does an annual flu vaccination atop you catching flu? No, but it does ensure the flu doesn’t KILL you. Maybe the world needs a SERIOUS education program?

Nate as of “ pooh pooing” from far away I would suggest posters leave their various paradises and come take a look now rather than rely on ads by estate agents s.
I live here and I’m amazed at the amount of new construction amd renovations underway at the moment. Started only on the last four to 6 months mostly “ upon the hills” ( around Banyan) but also plenty of others out at Hin Lek Fai, someone knows something about increased demand.
when Bangkok went into lockdown Hua Hin offered a weekend getaway, the flocked down every weekend - easily noticeable because during Covid the weekdays were traffic free indeed. So they tried it, liked it, and started buying land and building EVEN during this record high price steel and concrete period! It’s a great place to stay, I also know that Pattaya has the same kind of opportunities in places , but rightly or wrongly it’s reputation isn’t the best and may be putting the aristocrats off? I just hope Hua Hin doesn’t get changed into something more commercial.- 7

It’s normal for Our TV front liners to attack any piece of news within two seconds of publication but my take on this PUBLIC BROADCAST is that
-. It’s in response to some very public criticism Thai policy on Farang vaccination has received - a good thing surely?
- this policy ( prioritization of risk groups regardless of nationality) is absolutely logical and sound and in fact has been followed by many other governments around the world WITHOUT TV front liners derision and- IF enacted as articulated by the lovely lady spokesman quickly it will do exactly what those same front liners have been begging for since the pandemic began.
okay, so it’s late, slow and reactive rather than proactive. Okay so you may have to pay 4000thb to jump a queue, but is there anyone out there who doesn’t value their lives more than 4000thb?
id rather be positive ( boosting my immune system) than immediately attack this latest attempt to reassure the international community. After all we have the choice for f either a month of caustic cynicism or a month of optimism to find out if the Govt is genuine or not.
if the former I’d love to see our front liners apologise, but that would never happen on TV forum, if the latter there’ll surely be the usual caustic ranting and raving.

Racism in the extreme. Question - what, if anything at all, are our respective Ambassadors doing to protest against this discriminatory action of the Thai Government.
Many countries have Dual taxation agreements, dual trade agreements etc etc. is it now time to threaten with a dual vaccination policy- along the lines of if it’s done to our nationals in Thailand then the same treatment to thai nationals in our home countries? Just a thought.- 1

II never cease to be amazed by the amount of COVID expertise we have in a Thailand , and all of them TV members toboot! Someone should call WHO and let them know there’s a deep deep pool of knowledge here that they’re not tapped into. They could save BILLIONS and n research by just asking the lads on TV ! Why waste all that dosh?
We could also generate vast sums of money while entertaining the world with reality shows such as “Covid Uneversal Challenge”. Where the “open Thailand to tourism” college could challenge the “ COVID vaccinations don’t work” College.

In the event anyone tries to claim Tanzania or Lao or Cambodia are fudging their covid numbers don't bother. Just as in previous months when some accused Thailand of unrecorded covid cases, the "if Thailand has more covid cases then why aren't the hospitals full and why aren't there dead bodies in the streets" crowd quickly shouted them down. Don't temp the same fate from this crowd since there are also no full hospitals or bodies in the streets in Tanzania, Cambodia or Lao, so their covid numbers must be correct.
Therefore he caught it in Ethiopia.
So what IS the answer to the lack of deaths and empty hospitals IYHO?
A sincere question because it’s baffled me for a long time. I don’t believe you can hide deaths and overflowing hospitals in today’s transparent media without a Google gagging onset?- 12

Vaccinated foreigners will not be allowed to enter Thailand without quarantine
TAT has been on the losing side of the 'announcement game' since the start of the pandemic.
Regardless whether TAT will or won’t allow isn’t even CONSIDERING the possibility somewhat dangerous? we already know that certain vaccines only have fifty something percent effectiveness. Potentially then fifty percent vaccinated people are still carriers?
stranger danger. !

Almost everyone will agreee? Really? This forum is the worst at complaining “ lockdown is ineffective” “ lockdown kills the economy” “ lockdown as a cure is worse than the disease”. I think TV only EXISTS to offer a platform for counter opinions. !!

Clear as mud! travel within red provinces or between red provinces?
If you travel nowhere, don't have the app, but still get infected, somehow, you would have no travel history but might go to jail anyway?
The alternative at all public establishments is to sign the paper and give contact number on entry and exit timing noted. Doesn’t THAT constitute a travel history. And before we say what about traveling THROUGH a red district? - if we don’t stop we don’t infect. Get a grip guys, let’s contribute positively to this effort not just be negative and look for faults huh?

Live in Hua Hin. Arguing with wife that certificate WILL be needed for any travel to Bangkok ( passes through Samut Sakhon) even for her medical appointment in Bangkok. She says not I say absolutely. Am I correct or ( God forbid) is she?

Silly rabbit you have not seen errors till you see the mess only starting now in LOS
The fact they were only testing new arrivals & not the greater infected population for months & months was the tip off.
As for shutting it all down? Heheh ever see how Thailand buys their food daily? Ever see how the majority of Thai's eat
from common bowls? etc etc etc
Consider COVID what it always was...like smoke released into a room. It was released in Thailand same as everywhere else in the world..... last winter
"Shutting it down" does nothing to remove the smoke
Here we go again. If it’s been here since Christmas last - albeit untested- why so few deaths recorded? Does this virus differentiate between tested and untested population and only kill the tested ones ? Thailand has a death per thousand population rate of 0.09! One of the lowest in the world , regardless of lack of testing!

Thailand tried the lockdown, shutdown of businesses, selling only essential items, etc once already. If that practice was effective, then why are they having to do it again. If it was not effective, then why try something that has already shown is not effective again? It WAS effective. Of COURSE it was. At the time the rest of the world and region was inundated with hospital cases ( and deaths) Thailand was extremely lightly affected. IF they had maintained those “draconian measures” for longer than they did, I’m pretty sure THIS forum would have been up in arms. So when they relaxed them the result is what you see now. Surely that would illustrate just HOW effective they are?

compared to Thailands 4,000 cases and SIXTY deaths?
that UK?
yeah Thailand is not testing enough
Thailand didn’t HAVE the sick and the dead. That counts for something surely? Correct handling and a more disciplined approach maybe? The same disciplines approach that this forum complains about as killing the economy by the way. Do you want more tests that would certainly show more assymptomatic positive results that were always there but not causing ANY sicknesses and deaths then? Result? Panic, lockdown and further ruination of the economy. Europe tested to relieve their overflowing hospitals. Did we ever have that? Keep it in perspective PLEASE.

These are good promos. I'm thinking about booking an extra week in quarantine.
EXACTLY. Hit the nail on the head here.
buy two nights in quarantine and get one night free. Correct me if I’m wrong but I would suggest even WELL HEELED tourists are not coming to Thailand to spend time in quarantine. The law demands 14 days quarantine. They will buy 14 days - period. In which case they will be paying for 9 of them and getting 5 free. Isn’t that just a DISCOUNT incentive ? So call it what it is why don’t you?
on another note I really don’t believe there are people holding their collective breathe until the government will allow them to get never that spare USD million they have under the mattress or n return for a work permit are there? Dreamers. Do something practical not whimsical.- 1

who are those academics i am hearing every day about? is it better just to close all stores and lay off all workers? hello, academics, what do you think?
That’s not the right question. Even if CP don’t buy that doesn’t necessarily mean Tesco Lotus would close down. There are other alternatives, one- broken up and sold to smaller investors. ( this would increase their cost of operation and thus their attractiveness. Two- sell enbloc to another single buyer in completion with CP
So the CORRECT question is - was their any OTHER buyer.

You seem quite joyous about it , as do quite a few people on this forum .
I agree TV warriors are notorious for basking in negative news unfortunately. But I hope it’s only a
minority of the expats out there that voice the negativity and I also believe it’s not a case of their being happy about a COVID case within Thailand, rather it’s their overwhelming need to shout from the rooftops “ I TOLD you so”!! Sad huh?
let’s all wish the best for the containment efforts, after allit’s in EVERYONES interest that this thing goes away. Our TV heroes will be even more negative should there be a resurgence and their beloved bars get closed again.

You guys on VISA kill me.
There were only two possible outcomes of this enquiry - either corruption was involved or corruption wasn’t involved. Whichever was the outcome our loyal TV warriors would have switched into the usual vitriol.
Give the government SOME credit for listening to “ the people” and even holding the enquiry.as to the guilt of the Boss- that’s a separate issue and one TV can have their fun with for the rest of time ????

There is no such thing as Covid-19 it's just a strain of seasonal flu as shown by all of the independent doctors and virologists speaking out over the last month.
The figures point to it being even less dangerous than common flu with less deaths than a common seasonal flu around the world.
We have all been fooled folks, it's not a complete hoax but it sure has been blown waaaay out of proportion - ask yourself, are we going to do this again when next year's seasonal flu comes around ?? Are people really that stupid ? Use your grey cells.
Wonder what this is really all about - anyone have any ideas?
Now THERE’S a first ( for me at least) , a conspiracy theorist asking everyone what the conspiracy is???? Get a grip, buckle down, do your time, this is by no means a hardship posting for lockdown. Count your blessings, would you rather be standing outside number ten protesting Dominic’s guilt or lying by your pool with the sun on your back sipping a cold one?

Well said Hot and Sticky.
The lack of human kindness on this forum never ceases to amaze me. I hope it’s only the vocal minority and not the silent majority that think this way, for their OWN sakes.
As people age we inevitably loosen our grip on reality, while we are still working and in the Midst of life it’s easy to keep that grip, at seventy something, things change, we may lose our life partners, retire from our life careers and The result is our whole perception of things change. I can see how it would be very easy to think this exotic female in front of me wants to take care of me and be nice to me. But that may also be because I don’t immediately assume the whole world is out to screw me of my life savings, while by no means am I naive, I have some level of faith in human nature. I reckon maybe I should get some lessons from our TV cynics before I hit 86 then.- 1

More TV warriors at play! Isn’t it amazing that In UK Boris is being lambasted by Sir Kier for not locking down quickly enough and killing tens of thousands needlessly, and here in Thailand Prayut ( who’s NOT on my Christmas card list by the way) is being lambasted for locking down early and only losing 56?
everyone who DIDNT have yo make the decisions is now an expert. Well done guys.- 1

I can recognize and indeed love, statistics.
( No generalised statements from members about statistics being humbug please, it just shows collective ignorance of logic)
The video from the two SoCal PRACTICING immunologists has very strong arguments for opening up lockdown which are based purely on international statistical comparisons,( that I can identify with)but here’s the kicker that I’m hoping somebody can answer in this forum hopefully without conspiracy theories or flippant remarks. - IF these Doctors are even HALFWAY correct and we COULD possibly control the inevitable deaths at 0.1% rather than the current 0.3%, through SELECTIVE precautionary measures, then WHY is total lockdown the preferred government route when politicians, of ALL people, would know the bankruptcies, to individuals, to businesses in general and to whole NATIONS for a generation to come that it will cause. ? Do we hate big business SO much?

Very glad to see the administration doing a thorough job. The last thing we want is more fake news. It seems everyone is becoming an expert on Coronavirus now. I just wonder how come all this expertise is not translating into an effective antivirus.

I’m not 100 percent sure that the numbers tested is much of an indicator here. Logic dictates the more you test the more will bee confirmed positive, so it will be tough to identify a trend ( either growth or decline) just by positive tests. Wouldn’t it?
however DEATHS can’t be hidden I hope, so reported deaths can show a trend, and daily deaths an even better one. With one massive caveat- we just despatched thousands of potentially positive cases up to Isaan and the North, it’ll take 5 to 25 days for the worst ones to manifest themselves into new daily deaths. So best keep the restrictions in place until THOSE numbers flow into the statistics don’t you think?- 1
