  1. Hi guys!

Getting things sorted for applying for my wife's spouse visa and stepsons dependent visa to the UK.

Has anyone applied recently for a spouse visa and what are you experiencing in regards to VFS in Bangkok or Chiang Mai? What time frames are you experiencing? Has anyone been able to "accidentally" book priority service for the applications?

We are getting ready to apply in June/July of this year as we're currently waiting for our kids first passports to come through after completing UK citizenship registration for them. We're wanting the kids who only speak English to obviously attend school in the UK so its kinda urgent we can get them over soon, so the delays that I'm reading about are somewhat concerning and with the removal of the priority services it looks as if things could be even longer.

    Cheers guys for the input.

  2. Going back to the AQ method, here is a copy of the email and it states at point 1.3 that if you don't have a valid PCR test you won't be exempted from quarantine, but still allowed in to Thailand but have to quarantine so by all accounts its still saying you can enter quarantine free stay in the one hotel for the one night and move around freely, provided obviously you test negative on arrival.

    This worked - Success.....

Instead of filling out from the link of left most of the 3 sections [Exemption from Quarantine - Test and Go] (see screenshot below), I filled out the link of right most of the 3 sections [Alternative Quarantine] as you suggested flyguyryan...

But, I didn’t use a 10 day quarantine booking. I just filled out the application exactly as I had all the other times (about 10x !).

I put in all my Vaccine Certificates & QR Codes (from Qatar), Put in the 1 night AQ hotel booking confirmation, Insurance Cert - submitted and received immediate conformation followed a few seconds later by Approval and the QR Code.

The only single difference between this time and all the other times I’ve tried was was simply clicking on the [Alternative Quarantine] tab instead of the [Exemption from....] tab followed on from.

Immediately afterwards I re-submitted the application in exactly the same way and clicked on the [Alternative Quarantine] tab, input all the information in exactly the same way as every other submission (i.e. all the same info and attachments as previous submissions). Success again, received a QR code for both Wife and Son immediately afterwards.

    Recommendation:

I’m not sure if this will work for others: But its definitely worth a try:

Re-attempt submissions in exactly the same manner but go through the [Alternative Quarantine] tab.

    Details:

Mac Computer / Chrome Browser (No CORS override - that issue seems to have been fixed)

Vaccine Cert from both Qatar and Thailand worked (both had QR codes) (no vaccine cert for Son)

iCloud and G-mail e-mail accounts received the confirmation email and immediately after the approval e-mail.

Cheers buddy! I did this and I got the QR code before receiving the successful email. I'll keep checking and trying as well to get the Test & Go, but I think from seeing it its pretty much the same. I only entered 1 day for the hotel and showed only 1 day booking, less than what they wanted for 15,000 baht payment so if the test & go doesn't come through Ill just be using this.

  4. So decided to apply again as its been over 48 hours since last successful attempt with confirmation email but no QR code. Decided to amended all documents in to jpeg as I was submitting PNG and also did better quality now they've upped the limits. Got the confirmation email again to same address as last time (gmail) but now waiting again for QR code.

But with every email ping, I'm urgently checking to see if its accepted or not. Driving me insane all this messing about. Flying on the 11th but got to do tests before that and reluctant to do anything until this QR comes in!!

  5. First submission myself 1 Nov using hotmail - success message but no email. error on my part with vaccine cert.

Unable to resubmit to to API stuff.

First submission wife & kids 1 Nov using hotmail - success message but no email.

Second submission myself 2 Nov using gmail and Chrome Incognito - success message with email - 24 hours later nothing further.

Second submission wife & kids 3 Nov using iCloud email and Chrome Incognito - success message with email - waiting to see now how long this takes.

Incredibly frustrating when you can't check progress of the applications. Fly on the 11th, so still time but how long does it take if its meant to be automated!!

Bear in mind that for a visa exempt entry you will need a return/onward flight within 30 days.  If you get a tourist visa you'll get 60 days on entry (no trip to immigration needed) and your return ticket can be one you want to use rather than have to change.

Yeah I was kinda think that I'd need the onward flight for 30 days but change it later. Cheers for the reminder anyway.

  7. Hi guys

I'm heading back to Thailand on 11 November with my wife and kids. Apologies if I'm asking questions that have been answered before, but here goes.

Coming from the UK, do I need a visa using the Thaievisa site? I intend on staying less than 60 days. Normally I would go for visa exempt for 30 days and then head to get it extended for a further 30 days (60 with marriage certificates). Is that still possible in this day and age?

Am I best to wait till 1 November to use the new Thai Pass system or go through all the COE stuff and book hotel for 7 nights even though from 1 November it says only 1 night required for fully vaccinated? We are fully vaccinated with Pfizer a couple months ago.

    Appreciate your answers chaps!

So this is yet another in the long series of applications that will only accept users with a Thai ID number. How does this fit in with the announcement that vaccinations would be available to all residents, regardless of nationality?

I have absolutely no idea what this means... ????

after everyone who holds a Thai ID, the doors will be opened to dogs followed then by cats, then quite possibly non Thai ID residents.

You're children are entitled to British citizenship (by descent), as you have qualified for your citizenship to be 'full'.

If you'd included evidence of your time in the UK your kids would have been granted citizenship.

No change, those have always been the rules.

Thank you!! I didn’t know that and the British government did not say anything either. I even applied for emergency passports at the time and bought flights due to the requirements for the emergency passport and nothing was said at the British embassy in Thailand. I’m going to look in to this further now and see exactly what I need to do and show. Pension payment contributions and national insurance numbers should confirm what you’re saying about tax etc as proof of prior living in the UK. I’ll be getting on to that soon. Thanks for the hope you’ve given me!!

  10. That I didn’t know about. I completed education and worked in the UK for 12 years prior to moving over to Thailand and I did apply for a british passport for my first child and was turned down due to my british status which would be around 5 years ago. Has there been some change to say about what you mention recently? I had contacted a lawyer and they’re wanting almost £1000 per child to get them the passports which they say the vast majority is government fees. And they never mentioned anything further as i didn’t progress the application.

  11. Hey all! I’ve read a bit over the years but generally don’t take part in discussions.

my question is. I’m British but due to my own birth country I’m unable to pass on my british citizenship to my kids automatically and so they don’t qualify for british passports. They are therefore Thai and hold Thai citizenship. I’m looking to take them back to the UK, ideally long term, but certainly initially for a holiday, month or two.
So my question/s are is it easy to get them visas for the UK if their Thai mother is not traveling with? Do I need to satisfy any requirements? And obviously they are children so unable to support themselves so this would fall to my responsibilities. And has anyone else in the similar position done anything similar?
I work in the UK about 6-8 months of the year broken up with the remaining time spent in thailand. I am leagally married to my Thai wife in thailand with all proper certifications. The kids are 4 and 6 years old and carry my last name with me mentioned on their birth certificates. If I’ve missed anything else, just let me know, but your advice anyone would be gratefully accepted.
