  1. Just landed at Suvarnabhumi last night and was accosted at curbside while waiting for the limousine taxi. They sort of drifted away when I invited them back inside the terminal to inspect my bags. Those guys in jackets outside are not customs officers, but I would bet that they are working hand-in-glove with the real officers inside, as my bags were put through the x-ray when exiting from the customs area. :o

  2. Former Malaysian PM who wanted Malaysia for the Malays, who kept his Poor Old Indian Father well Hidden..

Lovely man, Salt of the Earth..He's making a goodwill gesture and you all mock him..

    Shame, Shame, Shame.. :o:D:D

Err, Wasn't it his mother that was of Indian origin? His father, I think was Malay and originated from Langkawi.

Anyway, his offer to build a peace mosque is in line with his hallmark hypocracy. Ask any Buddhist, Christian or Hindu in Malaysia how many laws are being modified almost on a daily basis to make it easier to build mosques and easier to tear down temples / churches in the name of redevelopment.

  3. Why not change the fees to Baht 150,000 down and get PR status also? They could then charge a yearly fee for the extras like golf, immigration express, busines lounges, etc...

Make it more suitable to the mass numbers of great Expats and old hands.

Only way to make it work.

    :o

    That'd work. :D

but only if they change the name to "peasant card" :D

  4. I'm not an American but it does annoy me with these sensationalist headlines that state 'Two Americans shot dead' or like the other one the other day that stated something like "an American is extradited back to Thailand to face terrorism charges' and so on and on it goes...

Then when you open the threads and read them you find that they are actually Laos or Vietnamese or Chinese or Pakistani or Indian or Italian or Spanish or English or what ever and who just so happens to have a green card or who has become an American national. I am not being a racist here before anyone decides to jump on me about this, but I am merely pointing out that you don't hear anyone who is say American who happens to have PR or national status in say Japan or Hong kong or Singapore or Thailand as being declared as 'Thai man extradited back to the USA for sex charges' or 'Japanese man shot dead in LA' do you as they will always focus on the fact that he was / is an American first!

Why don't these sensationalists just be honest and declare it more accurately and state something like "Laos couple from America shot dead" or "Laos Americans shot dead" instead of just focussing on the American part... it really bugs me because it skews the story entirely and puts a completely new perspective on it when you actually get to read the story!

    grrrr :o

under your theory only red indians should be called americans then! :D

  5. are you complaining or are you boasting? :D

I like to think that I can do both! :D

err, i was actually asking that question to the graceless fawn - the one who should consider replacing that pepper spray with something more handy(sic) - a lubricant? :o

  6. a fair percentage of Thai Airways pilots are of non thai nationality, folks, including English, Australian and americans

I would say a percentage are and on international routes mainly

    Never struck one yet.

that's because they are consultants and as consultants they are not allowed to make welcome aboard announcements for fear of losing their work permits! :o

  7. THAI Clarification on Flight TG 659 incident

Today (16 November 2006), in clarification to news that an aircraft of Far Eastern Air Transport from Taiwan avoided an incident with Thai Airways International aircraft.

the Corporate Communications Department of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited provides the following clarification.

Far Eastern Air Transport of Taiwan, Flight EF 306 routed from Taipei, Taiwan to Jeju, South Korea, at 11.00 hrs. (Korean local time) THAI's pilot-in-command was notified of communication between Far Eastern Air Transport and the air traffic control of South Korea, which advised that Far Eastern Air Transport should descend according to the order given by air traffic control as a sick passenger was on board.

According to air traffic control instructions, THAI's aircraft, TG659 routed Seoul - Bangkok, was flying in its right position with lateral and vertical navigation at 34,000 feet above South Korean airspace and the air traffic system on board THAI's airplane indicated a warning (TCAS) that another airplane was approaching. THAI's pilot-in-command followed the procedure indicated by TCAS system and operated the flight as usual and landed in Bangkok at 13.40 hrs.

In addition, THAI's flight TG659 utilizing Boeing 777-300 routed Seoul - Bangkok departed Seoul at 09.50 hrs. (Korean local time) arrived Bangkok at 13.40 hrs. with 356 passengers and 20 aircrews.

i think they forgot to mention that the toilets were also flushing properly... :o

  8. Aside from giving cause to stifle media, opposition, etc - what other powers do the CNS have from martial law?

approving mega projects and changes to same thereof, allocating revenue to govt agencies, ngo's, quango's and state enterprises without proper parliamentary debate. personnel appointment to boards of different govt bodies, etc. etc. etc. - but wait - wasn't the previous govt already doing that! :o

  9. can't escape the fact that anand is an ex-pm (albeit appointed), but sometimes the logic of his drivel does come across as odd while brazenly kowtowing to the chinese political sentiment. he was spouting the same kind of tones when he chaired the un panel on threats and challenges to the security council. :o
