  1. When I was still in the motor trade in the UK (30 Years) the County Council (Essex) gave training courses in fitting child seats. Not all seats fit all vehicle. So those retailers need to be trained to advise the customer on which seat is the best for their vehicle and their children. The Doctor's statement in the article is wrong. The seat manufactures, the retailers and the Technicians fitting the seats can not say that by the fitting of a child sea It would save their child's life. What they can say is by the fitting of a child seats COULD SAVE YOUR CHILD'S LIFE.  After the training course you were entitled to display a sign saying, "Fit Safe, Sit safe" It will be up to the Provençal Governments' to run these course.

  2. I do not know if this applies to others, but for me it is good news. I hold a Non-B Visa that has a hand written message across it "Unofficial", I can work as a Teacher, but I am unable to get a Work Permit. I have been here for 16 years and I do want to count hold much I have paid out in Visa costs. As I did not have a up to date Tourist Visa I had to apply for one and pay 1900 Baht and the the very next day I went back and paid 2000 Baht for the non official Non-B visa. Will I have to pay again for an Official Non-B. I will let you know.. .

  3. I was waiting for this to happen. There are not enough foreign teachers as it is, because of those that went home in April and cannot get back. I have been trying for 3 weeks now to get a Non-B visa and a work permit.

My local immigration asked me to get a letter from the British Embassy last week. I got a phone call back from the Embassy to say they are no longer issuing letters as the Amnesty has been moved to the end of this month. We were going to immigration today and it did not happen. No Non-B = No Work Permit = No Salary for last month. I do not care what they want to call me, I just want to be Legal.

  4. I have applied to the British Embassy for a letter, but it was never explained to me about what. I came back from Bangladesh on the 7th of March and I was given 30 days on arrival which was until the 5th of April. I went to Immigration on the 5th and asked what did I have to do, as the amnesty had been announced. The 5th was a Monday and they said that it had not become law so I would have to pay 1900 Baht a 30 day extension and I said that can not be right as normally 1900 Baht get you 90 days. I had no money with me and very little in the Bank. The following day the Amnesty was announced and back dated so I was in fact covered. Now I am waiting to hear from the Embassy.

As I have no Non-B visa or Work Permit my place of employment will not pay me for last month. Catch 22.

  5. I totally agree with the comment above about our so called Embassy here in Thailand. I have written to them 5 times and I have had no reply.

This Ex-Marine should be allowed to leave Thailand and I would of thought The Marine Corp would come and get him if they know. There is a Emergency Royal Air Force Plane equipped to deal with type of incident.

They could come an get him.

  6. Does he not know that all he is doing is driving the sale of Alcohol more underground and what about those that work in the industry and the wholesalers and the mama and Papa shops om the corner. It is a chain . reaction. Thai and foreign people are still having meeting and drinking Coke or other soft drinks, that is because it is the way of live in Thailand. Ok close Bars, Pubs and Clubs and put more people out of work, but at least let us have some. Even if it is a limited amount per person. Somebody said it is going to take about two years to get the Tourists coming back. It is going to take Thailand a lot longer to recover from this. Schools, Colleges, and Universities. The overnight buses etc. 300 Bhat a day = 9,000 Baht a month and the Government are giving them 5000 Baht. Ok they have also asked Banks and Gold shops and financial

organisations to hold back on the payments. What if you have lost your job because of this. How are they going to pay off the debts. In the UK they are not made to wear masks and they are free to buy beer at the supermarkets. Yes, there number of Deaths is a lot higher with about the same Population as Thailand. I am writing this whilst Drinking a nice cold Chang. Cheers.

  7. This has been talked about for weeks and it was said that anyone arriving in Thailand on or after the First of March would get this EMERGENCY 30 day visa. now it is the 09th of April. So those that have been waiting for this instead of increasing the length of queues waiting outside Immigration Offices in this Hot and Stick Weather, are now 9 days overdue. (I am 4 days overdue.) This was suppose to be an EMERGENCY matter. God help us if we ever have anything worst then this.

Martin. (An unemployed Teacher of English, 63 years old and having taught in Thai school for nearly 14 years. For what?) (GO HOME) My family is here in Thailand.

Why don't you fly back home?

You can also just apply for a 30 day tourist extension if you didn't have one yet.

Thank you for your reply. I have been without work since the End of September and my money has run out. What about my Kids. (Thai) I did not register my son with the British Embassy, but he does have a Thai Passport. I have told all of this to the British Embassy.

  9. "Just a matter of time" Details to be Iron out.

This is for foreigners who entered Thailand on or after the 1st of March.

Today is the 04th of April Visa's are already running out as form the 30th of March. Are we going to have to pay overstay finds? while we wait  for "Just a matter of time" They have time, we do not. My visa runs out tomorrow. My money ran out last week. Today we are asked to contact the British Embassy in Bangkok and they would reply with some advice. I sent an email to the Embassy 10 days ago. Yes, your right!! No REPLY. Will I get one this time? its "Just a matter of time."

  10. I entered Thailand on the 7th of March, so those among you will work out that my 30 Days run out tomorrow. I when to immigration Yesterday afternoon and told them that I need an extension and because I cannot find work here as you all will know all the schools, colleges and universities are closed. I have lived here for 15 years and I have been a teacher of English in both Private or State Owned Schools. I was retired from my last job as the Labour Office told the school that they would not extend my Work Permit and The area Education Office also said they would not supply the necessary paperwork for extending Visa and work Permit. I am 63 years old. I do know that some Teachers who are older than me are still teaching, because the Director of their schools told the necessary departments that He or She wanted to keep the Teacher. So I am not working or being paid by anyone and when I read about the Automatic Visa Extension I thought they have thrown me a life line. But it turns out not yet. So as of tomorrow night I will be overstaying.

  11. All this is going to do is start an even bigger amount of stock pilling shoppers and then we will have shortages of the basic items needed for everyday life.

Thailand you are doing a better job then most countries around us. So really think about it outside of the box and make better decisions that help all of Thai People and the Foreigners that have been staying here for a long time and those who have been trapped here. We all need help and it is needed now. Maybe we will talk about it next week, is not good enough.

  12. I have just come back from immigration in Sakon Nakhon.

I arrived back to Thailand on the 7th of March, so my 30 day stamp runs out on Sunday the 5th. I asked about the free extension and was told that I can not have one. I have to pay 1,900 Baht for an extension, I arrived back to Thailand with very little money as the school I was working at asked me to resign, so that a relative of the owner could work there as she had just Graduated from a University in Canada with a B.A. and a Masters in English. I had worked there for 4 months and twice they allowed my visa to run out. I came back on the 7th with 9000 Baht. So I have no money. So much for the automatic 30 day extension. It was to help Immigration being overload with tourists who can not get home. All say and no do.
