Great News. What insurance company do you use?

Surprise Surprise Just discovered my Canadian BlueCross DoesNot cover Asymptomatic forced Hotel/Hospital stays. After given runaround with double speak and Insurance BS. But covered for $5 million ! or Not. OK so IF when we leave LOS we are found positive Are there symptoms we ‘might ‘ have that would then ‘qualify’ for payment of hotel/ hospital charges. Asking for a friend.

I'm assuming at some point you obtained a Non Imm O Visa, either from a Thai Embassy or from a local Immigration office. That permitted you to stay for 90 days and you then applied for a 1 year extension of stay (a permit, not a Visa) based on retirement, either 800K in a Thai bank account, or an Embassy Income letter, which extended your stay for 1 year.
It would assist if you can post a photo of the last stamp you received, to confirm.
It should state ''extension of stay permitted up to (date).
What is that date, then we can better advise on your plan to return to the US and regularly spend 5-6 months in Thailand each year.
Correct got 1 year extension of stay til Feb1 2022 Thanks

OP, you need to clarify your post.
Currently your on a 12 month extension originally had a 90 day non o (retirement)?
When is expiry of current permit. It's on the stamp in your passport.
You mention WE. Is that wife or.....Thai or,..
More detail required.
BTW definitely obtain jabs when your in Canada. Why have them in the US.
Passing through States and getting vaccinated there would put us ahead by 14 days at least as before we ‘might’get Canadian vaccination we must isolate for 14 days upon arrival in Canada Thai wife ( has Canadian citizenship Too). Yes on 12 month extension expires Feb1 st. Thank you for your input

They may of done the 60 day extension so that you would have a permit to stay date instead of the amnesty.
As I wrote before you could apply now for the 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) entry since you have the 400k baht in the bank in your name only. List of required documents are here. https://bangkokimmigration.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/06-edit_NON-O.pdf
Thank you Will wait til Amnesty dust settles , and follow your advise

Your understanding is not fully correct, but it is in your advantage.
When applying from your Tourist Visa for the 90-day Non Imm O Visa for reason of marriage, the required 400K funds ONLY need to be on your personal Thai bank-account (a joint one is not accepted by IO) at the moment of application.
That moment of application has to be when you have at least 15 days (some IOs require 23 days) left on your permission to stay.
Thank you I thought I was apply for that(90days) but got 60 days ( arrived on 60 day tourist visa Jan 10 -march10 extended 30 days1900. . April 9 got 15+15 1900bht( same day as Amnesty ). Then went in on 16 sept 1900bht Got 60 days. ( marriage) Funds in My account

Are you applying based upon retirement or marriage to a Thai. For retirement you need 800k baht in a Thai bank.
You can apply for the 90 day non immigrant visa at any time now up to to the last 15 days of your 60 day extension. As said the 400k or 800k baht would only need to be in the bank on the day you apply. If for retirement you would have to show proof the 800k came from abroad.
Then you could a apply for the one year extension of stay during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry from the visa. At that time the funds would have to be in the bank for 2 months.
I have been married to a Thai for 34 years. I am told I only need 400 k in bank.

Where are you based?
I use these guys in Bangkok
Extension is 8,900 which is basically 7,000 on top of the 1,900 extension fee
NB they will only deal with people who meet all of the requirements (in the case of a marriage extension400k in the bank or 40k income).
Edit, I see you’re in Bangkok, they’re based on Soi 24 a few minutes from Phrom Pong BTS stop (right hand side in the small shopping arcade near the Japanese restaurant)...Thank you Mike. Good info I’m based in Phuket planning on applying for retirement visa ( married 34 yrs to Thai National) just got 60 days to visit wife. Opened bank act and deposited 400k my funds will only season by 22 nov. visa good to 15 nov? 8900 starting to sound sane as down here we hear 30k +.

I've been here on a 90-day non-o visa (now expired) since January. Thai Airways cancelled my 15th April flight at the end of March, and I opted for the delayed return flight back to the UK option. Just prior to my taking any IM action, they brought in the amnesty, and I have been enjoying that provision ever since.
During the last few weeks, I have been putting "plan B" into operation. I have a new passport (my original one expires in Jan '21, and I foresaw problems with that), I have my expired visa evidenced in my new passport, along with evidence of where I am residing. I have also managed to open a Thai bank a/c.
So, to answer the OP's question: I am waiting to see what comes out of tomorrow's (22nd Sep') cabinet meeting. If there is no further amnesty extension, I have THB 14,000 ready, along with all the other requirements, and an agent standing by, to procure a retirement visa for me. You we’re in deed fortunate to be able to open a bank account. I was told I needed a current visa not Amnesty So got 60 visa to visit wife but dated Sept16 to Nov 15. And then Still needed to get permission (300bht )Letter from Immigration to openNew Bank act. 60 days to season 400k. Will take until 24 nov. visa good to 15 nov. ????

if one goes earlier, is it 60 days from the date of application or 60 days from the 26th of September?
Thank you.
Phuket dated mine. 16 sept to 15 Nov. had to return next day to get (300bht) permission to open bank act. Done. Hope to have 400 k in by sept 24 th but will not be ‘seasoned’the 60 days required when nov 15 rolls around.

Yesterday in Phuket I was able to get a 60 day extension to visit my Thai wife, very helpful volunteer dealing with crowded office When visa returned (3 hrs+). it was dated September 16-November 15 ? I had entered the kingdom on a 60 day tourist visa. Extended 30 days and then got 15+15 ( day before Amnesty) so no overstay. Went to Bangkok bank to open account But they now need form from Immigration 300 bht +photo +pp visa copy. So today got that fast n easy ( room101) quiet. Opened bank account. Will have 400 k in by next week. But. 60 days would be November 24 th ish. Called 1178 they said talk to HKT office ? But getting busier by the day ther. Why was I given sept 16 to Nov15 Thanks ????????

60 day extension of stay obtained this morning from Bangkok Chaeng Wattana. Things to bear in mind:
1. We got there at 07:00 and there were already 102 people infront of us. They let you in, give you a ticket number and you must then locate your seat in the main foyer that has your number stuck to it on a little square of paper and wait. In our case, seats 103 and 104. We went for coffee downstairs. When they open the actual immigration office at 08:30, adjacent to the numbered seating, you'll be called through in batches. You are then given another numbered ticket which is more specific to the service you want.
2. An hour later, the immigration officer was having difficulty communicating in English and with the facemasks and plastic screen, I couldn't very hear much at all. She had to get the supervisor/ signatory to discuss with me the start date and end date of the 60 day extension. I had brought colour copies of the recent infographics that make it clear the start date is 27 Sept and the end date is 25 Nov. Once we got that bit straight, I finally handed over the money. 1,900 baht
3. With regard to our living arrangements in Bangkok - they of course wanted signed copies of the ID and house book of the building's owner. They also wanted the actual rent contract, not just copies of the last 6 months invoices for the rent. We had everything with us anyway.
4. They definitely wanted an up to date Kor Lor 2, which we'd been to get yesterday at the local registry office. We then had to pose for a photo, holding the original marriage certificate and my wife's ID card pinned to the top of it. How nice.
We were in and out in 3 hours or thereabouts. It was busier than I expected.
I did mine in Phuket yesterday very helpful volunteer. But got stamped sept 16-November 15 th. 1900 bht. / 3 hrs No one could explain why .not dated 26 th to Nov 25 ? Had to return today to get permission form to be able to open Bank act. But will not have 60 days to seed 400k.

Is it same as murphys law? I assume you speak English english, just asking cause not native speaker.
Sod's law is a British culture axiom that "if something can go wrong, it will", sometimes also made to include that it will happen at "the worst possible time". The term is commonly used in the United Kingdom, though in North America, "Murphy's law" is more popular. Wikipedia- 1

Cabinet okays 9-month visas for foreigners
National
Sep 15. 2020
The Cabinet has approved a proposal of issuing long-stay visas for foreigners visiting Thailand.
Deputy government spokesperson Traisuree Taisaranakul said on Tuesday (September 15) that the Cabinet has agreed to allow foreigners to live in Thailand for up to nine months per trip, provided they can prove they have spent 14 days in quarantine.
The first visit will allow 90 days of stay, which can then be extended twice totalling nine months.
This measure will start from next month, and up to 1,200 tourists per month will be granted this extended visa.

So 1200 tourist a month x 12 = 14400 tourist to save the industry?
