I sure hope someone is held accountable. If these 17 have fled, Thailand should seek extradition from the countries where these criminals reside.

What is with Thai drivers? I find them inconsiderate of others. I keep saying it and will say it again: Thailand needs police patrols; checkpoints are useless. I hope this taxi driver gets a hefty fine and jail time.

Many issues need adjustment, but dual pricing is the least of concerns. How about addressing traffic deaths for one? Teach these youngsters proper riding skills. Save lives and arrive alive.

When traveling to another country, you are responsible for knowing and understanding the basic culture.

Ban this route. Ban that route. They will only find another route that may be more dangerous. Some replies suggest driver skills, maintenance, and so on, and those are all good suggestions and actions that should be taken. If it were me I would make these buses and tandem trucks stay in the left lane, follow the posted speed limit signs (buses and lorries xxxx kph, cars xxx kph, motorbikes xxx kph) When I read articles like this I feel like a broken record saying Thailand needs more police patroling the roads, checkpoints are usless.

I am a naturalist, but this is unacceptable. There are camps and places to go here in Thailand if you want to prance around in the nude.

Sorry I don’t agree all buildings built in Thailand have to go through a planning process which is controlled by the Thai government that’s why in every province their are government planning officers architects, engineers and building inspectors who should regulate building works during the building process right through until the final inspection. On top of this the structure for high rise builds shout be columns of steel supports and columns
If what you say is true, how did China get substandard rebar past the Thai engineers?
-
I have experienced substandard materials from Chinese manufacturing. Don't blame and pointing a finger at Thailand; this is all China's fault. Steel is the backbone for any construction project, especially high-rise buildings.

"common sense" - when people agree with your prejudices
Your comment shows you have no common sense.

what is complex about this? There are simple rules that need to be enforced. That's step one and they haven't even done that so why are you talking about some greater scheme?
NorthernRyland, it is sad they have no common sense.

You can make all the rules you want, but nothing will change until you add more police to enforce the laws. I might also add that the driving test for automobiles and motorbikes is a joke here in Thailand. Driving and riding schools. It's worth a try. Bottom line: Checkpoints are useless. Thailand needs more police patrolling the roads.

That well may be true but I would never go as low as you Americans and steal from disabled children.
You could have left out the word American. Yes, he is an idiot like many others I have encountered from other countries, including Thailand.

What an "F...ing" idiot. I am almost ashamed to tell people I am from America when asked.

This is sad. My wife and her family live in Kalasin, and I felt slight tremors from the quake here.
-
Old fool! You are giving Americans and farangs in general a bad reputation. Go back home.

It's sad that even if you are right, you are a farang, not Thai, and they always win. Even my Thai family has thrown me under the bus on occasions.

in the future, you might have to explain to the tax office how you support yourself. you would then tell the thai tax office that you pay for everything with your foreign credit card and therefore believe you don’t have to pay taxes under thai tax law.
but you do realize that, in the end, it’s the thai tax office (not you) that decides what you need to pay taxes on ...
paying for your living expenses with a credit card doesn’t seem like the smartest choice, bad exchange rates, high fees, etc.
as a tax resident over 65, you already have a tax-free allowance of at least 500k, and only after that do you need to pay taxes:
It appears that I will not need to pay any tax. I rarely use my credit card for purchases other than at Mitsubishi for service and tires.
-
If I use my international credit card to purchase items here in Thailand, aren't the items already taxed? If so, why should I pay an additional tax on that purchase?

Growing up, my dad had an IQ of 140, and my mom was the spelling bee queen. I didn't inherit any of that. However, my parents always said that common sense is equally important. I find common sense lacking here, and most Thais are inconsiderate. Does this human trait, common sense, contribute to intelligence? I think so.

Expats like Robert gives all expats a lousy reputation. If I were to meet up with him, I would slap the snot out of him.

There are many dogs in our village. At night they began to howl and bark, which is annoying to say the least. Owners are responsible for their animals. In my country, owners of dogs and cats are required to follow animal control regulations. Dogs and cats need to be neutered or spayed.

The Thailand revenue department is missing millions, if not billions, of Baht each year by not taxing street vendors.

Too often some take advantage of events like this and have no basis for raising prices. Other than pure GREED!

Unless you teach these moron riding skills helments won't help. There is a lane for motorbikes, stay in it. I see that many bikers do things that not only jeopardize their own lives but also those of others. I think bikers is the wrong word to use. Bikers have riding skills.
