    Very very rarely do i think about how much more money i could have made if I had stayed put .

    But if i had stayed put i would now be thinking what a dumb a$$ i was .   Fortunately i chose to come here fairly young and make life an adventure .  Doing all the exciting things that were new back then;

    touring the country,  chasing the ladies,  making mistakes,  and learning how to survive.

    Not many free spirits left in the world ...... and gonna be much harder to be one as the iron rules of the "new world order"  clamp down on freedom.

    I certainly have no regrets for living more than half my life in Thailand .  The people and lifestyle

    i still enjoy (even more so when comparing to the Western world), and am definitely happy to have chosen.

    Couldn't have said it better!

  2. I take my mother in law to dialysis twice a week here in khon kaen province. The cost, as we elected to get treatment outside the thai insurance system, is two thousand baht per treatment. She also goes for additional testing once every three months or so to check on her current condition and adjust her medications (hypertension and all). The main issue is finding a dialysis clinic with availability because ckd is very common in Thailand. When we wanted to go with her to visit Phuket, we called every dialysis clinic we could but found no availability. So if you plan to travel to Thailand, make sure you have your route and schedule planned out and make appointments with dialysis clinics accordingly. I hope it works out for you and stay strong.

  3. I recently did my 90 day reporting in KK although my visa address is Phuket. When I went to do my 90 day reporting in KK, I had to go with the owner of the house in which I was currently residing (a relative through marriage), along with his house book and Thai ID card, so he could fill out a short form showing that I was temporarily residing in his residence with his permission. It only took about 20 minutes as lines were short. We paid for a few photocopies and that was that.

  4. Well put

    You, Sir, are exactly right. So many times people have told me I am "wasting my money" on rent. But in the 11 years I have lived in Bangkok, I have had the chance to live in 5 different locations, each with its own unique character. I love exploring the new locations, with fresh shops and restaurants and people. Having the ability to move your 800k to another more inviting country also provides some peace of mind while watching the ever changing landscape.

    Were I in my 30's, then, yes, I might be more concerned about building equity in a property. But at my age, death follows me like a shadow. I value flexibility much more than the investment potential.

    well put

  5. Never experienced monthly or weekly visits, but when I apply for my extension of visa based on marriage an immigration officer visits us at our home and takes pictures of us around the house and out front with us pointing at the house number sign. This is in spite of the fact that I submitted the same photos with my extension application. This all

    started about three years back.

  6. Primer is the white undercoat of paint. So you don't need primer and an undercoat of white. If the room is already painted (i.e. not bare gypsum board) you only need to use primer if you are trying to cover a strong existing color.

    I just finished painting three rooms. I bought 5 gallons of primer for 900 baht. For the colors...One gallon of paint covers 18 to 20 sq mtrs. I used 2.5 gallon tins that cost between 900 and 1,000 baht each depending on color choice. Cream white is at the cheaper end. Ceiling paint was even cheaper. Buy the paint yourself and pay what you think is fair for the labor.

    Oh the shock and horror of it all.  I think we better look to the tall government buildings to see if they start jumping out the windows like in the great stock market crash in the US on Black Thursday 1929.  Of course they will have to go back to the history books and stop calling it black thursday as black lives matter....yes sarcasm

    It was a tuesday
