OP is not clear, is he leaving before or after the end of a 90 day stay? The post title indicates before, but the post text indicates after, without stating exactly how many days over. All above advice seems good. My experience is I have never stayed more than 90 days on any one visa (though I've stayed more than 90 consecutive days on multiple consecutive visas / extensions), I've never filed TM47, and never had any issues coming or going.

Report date was 19 April so leaving much later

Brian K, Kannikap has given you the correct advice. Many of the other comments are irrelevant as they haven't read your original post correctly. You are leaving Thailand BEFORE the current 90-day is due for renewal, so your entry BACK INTO THAILAND will automatically activate a NEW 90-DAY with no penalties providing you note the NEW 90-day date.

Maybe this wasn't clear in my original post.  My 90 day report was due on 19 April.  So it looks like I will be ok leaving the country in a few weeks and may have to pay the penalty when I submit again the 90-day report after my return

A 90 day report is exactly what it says on the tin. If you stay over 90 days you must report. If you leave before your 90 days is up, you don't.

The 90 days are reset when you re-enter Thailand

Thanks.  The issue though is that I did not go in person to report after it was rejected online twice.  It was dur a couple of days ago.  I will be leaving for holidays in 4 weeks so what will happen at the airport? and will I be penalised if, when applying again in a few months?  ie will they know I missed the current one and ask me to pay the 2000 baht penalty.

  4. Like many people in this forum, my online 90-day report was rejected twice over the past week or so.  After renewing my 'retirement' visa at CW and updating my TM 30 there, IO assured me that I would have no problem applying online (just like I did for a couple of years previously).  Did not happen.  Now I am strapped for time and don't fancy another treck to CW.  I will be leaving Thailand in a few weeks and so wonder if I can get away with not doing the report now as I won't be back for a few months.  Will I have a problem at the airport before leaving? Will I be penalised on my return and/or when I do the next 90-day report.

    Thanks for clarifying

    You are not alone.....

same here too.  When I was last in CW to renew my retirement visa, I had to update TM30 and was assured by the IO that I will be able to apply for the 90 report online from then on.  Of course not!!!  Tried two times last week and got the standard message to go do it in person.  I don't have the time to go do this.

I will be travelling in a month and so can someone confirm that if I miss this one I will not have to pay the 2000 baht penalty when leaving the country or when I reapply again in a few months when back in Thailand.  Many thanks

I had a 90 day rejected, I resubmitted and it was accepted. Same data.

Dd the same but was rejected again

just got back from CW and the IO explained the rejection by saying I applied too close to the due date; total BS. of course!  She also reprimanded me for not submitting my TM30.  I updated it four years ago when I moved from my work address to the condo I own.  She had nothing to say except go update your TM 30 ASAP.  What are they on about, honestly??  They need some serious training on policies/rules and how to apply them across the board.  I am dreaming, I know

You are correct. But when you do it online, it cannot just go to your extension date like it can if done manually at an office. My 90 days was due in Oct and my extension date was in Dec. So instead of getting 90 days to my next report he only gave me up to the extension date which was under 90 days. I hope this clarifies what I was saying earlier.

So this may be the case for me too on this occasion.  However, and I have just noticed this now, I checked previous applications I made online and saw that in fact they did reject one before.  Exactly the same info provided in all previous forms I filled out but twice now, they rejected them.  No new passport.  No new arrival date.  Nothing different.  The mystery continues

    Happened to me.

The report must be done at CW if that is your immigration office.

You have 7 days to do it in person.

    Appointments are available.

Alternatively you could leave it till your next extension and plead your case.

The issue is the check doc chicks may pic up on no TM47.

My last 2 extensions they wanted the TM47 to let me proceed to desk L32.

Thanks you Dr Jack and Liquorice.  What a waste of my time to have to treck to CW for some obscure admin error, I am sure

  9. I am not quite sure why they rejected my online 90 Day reporting application online.  This is the first time it happens and of course, no explanation is given!   the email I received is 'ordering' me to go my nearest immigration bureau immediately.  The due date is today, 17 January.  My retirement extension is due for renewal mid Marck 2024 so wondering if the two are linked ie I have less than three months visa remaining.  If that is the case then why would I need to go to immigration?  Does it have to be CW where I normally get my visa extension?  Any insight is gratefully received

  10. I need to order a few things from Amazon UK and have them delivered to a friend there who will then post them to me here in BKK.  It's mostly some toiletries and tea, about 3 kilos in weight.  As this is the first time I do this, I am wondering if I will need to pay a hefty tax bill when I receive the parcel.  Can someone please shed some light on how tax is calculated so I can decide whether it's really worth doing this?

    Thanks

It will not p+++ them off.  When the new system first started my first submittal was rejected.....I resubmitted online and it was also rejected.  I then did a mail-in and it was approved....took about a month to get the new 90 day receipt back from CW.

When it was time to report again, I tried online again and it was approved....3 months later I tried again and got approved again....I'm on a roll now.   After that approval I got my passport renewed, stamps transferred to new passport, but when doing my next online report it was rejected.....that's when I went and did an in-person report so hopefully I can get back to receiving online approvals.

So, right now I'm batting 2 out of 5 for online approval attempts.  I sure hope with my new passport good for another 10 years and doing the in-person report will lead to many years of online approvals---one can hope.

A list of my online 90 day "online" attempts.... 2 of 5 success rate.

Thanks for this.  Fingers crossed, they will update their system and I can start applying online.

The rejection (disapproval) is because you got a new/renewed passport.   Typically when you get a new/renewed passport you will need to do an in-person 90 day report (mail-in might work also)....it's just a requirement the CW office (and maybe other offices) have....just how they update their 90 day report system with the latest info.   At one time I remember actually reading it an Thai govt immigration website but can't find it anymore....I think it was somewhere that explained the new online system when it initially came online.

I just experienced the same problem.  About a month ago I got my renewed/new U.S. passport...and immediately went to CW immigration to have my stamps transferred from the old to new passport.....all went OK...that was all done and dusted about a month ago.

Last Sunday I submitted my 90 day report online after getting the email notice from immigration it was time to submit again.  When submitting the report on Sunday I figured  I was "probably" going to get a rejection after having two online approvals based on my previous passport.   And sure enough on Tuesday I got the email rejection from CW immigration....neither checking online or the email stated "why" it was rejected.

So, today/Thurdday I went to CW to do an in-person report...in and out in 30 minutes.  When I handed the officer my 90 day report at the 90 day counter I also pointed out my online report had just been disapproved without reason given after having two approvals.  The officer just politely waved me off as she processed my new report.  When she handed me my new 90 day receipt she then explained the online disapproval/rejection was because I had a new/renewed passport.  She also said I should have no problem getting online approval for my next report since the in-person report had updated the system to reflect the new passport.

Now one would think when a person goes to immigration to transfer stamps from the old to new passport that process would also update the online 90 day reporting system with the new passport number, but apparently it does not....it takes (or may take) an in-person report...and maybe a mail-in report will also work.

UPDATE:  Found where it says if you get a new passport a in-person report is required.  Got to below immigration website and click the TM47 icon and its talked in the popup instructions....below is a partial snapshot.

Well, I wish I had followed your advice and not the one that said re-submit online and it might work.  I ended up getting another rejection with the added order "to go immediately to my nearest Immigration Office".

But because I still have 10 days before the deadline and the fact that I am not able to visit CW right now, I sent my application by post.

Will this p+++ them off?  Let's hope not

Yes read your reply to uj.

Don't think you will have any issue with 90 report online

Turned I did!  Just got an email saying they have rejected my application on the grounds that no previous notification was found!??

let's this be a warning to everyone that just when you think all is going ok and you've taken all the necessary steps to abide by their regulations, you get another unpleasant annoying surprise.  off to the PO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. I submitted my first online application for 90 day reporting today.  I have a new passport and this is the first time I am applying online using it.  Within seconds I received an email acknowledging receipt of my application.  so far, pretty fast and efficient.

Am I likely to get this approved given that I am submitting for the first time using a new passport?  With my old passport, I never managed to do this online;  always ended up having to do it by post.

    Thanks for your feedback

  15. Apologies if this has been covered already!  Not always easy to do a simple search and get the answer.

I will be travelling to Europe on 3 May and returning mid-May.  How early can I apply for the Thailand Pass?  Heard about people having to wait longer than one week so want to avoid any last minute stress.  is there somekind of guide I can access to learn about what's needed?

    Thanks
