A progressive monk, good for him. Although there are still plenty of males around who think it is their right to tell women what to do with their bodies.

IMO the results of a plebiscite where only women were allowed to vote on the issue would be overwhelming.

Probably so... but the child wasn’t conceived alone... not very often anyway????but then I imagine most of the fathers in question aren’t accountable anyway. Sadly

or are we just opening up another big can of worms?!

Ya know at some point we’re going to have to be willing to accept some level of risk or jus kiss life as we have known it goodbye... after all covid isn’t the first or last virus threat the world has faced.

Ok, so that makes perfect sense; they will start phase-1 in February with the bulk of the vaccine will start production in June... thanks for clearing that up.

Anutin addressed the press after a one hour briefing with Prayuth about the vaccination program.

He said that the PM had ordered a fast, safe, comprehensive and transparent rollout free from political interference or influence.

Promising "equality" he said that everyone would be vaccinated in a year in what would be the health department's biggest vaccination program ever.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with this statement and hopefully they have follow through that makes this happen.

A choice will need to be made to either slowdown the virus spread by getting those most likely to spread the virus (Young healthy) or those most likely to have serious complications medically (Older medical issues). Each choice pros and cons. Race and national origin nothing to do with stopping the virus other; than the risk categories will undoubtedly have higher and lower demographics based upon social and economic factors.

As an expat who’s country will provide vaccine to everyone regardless of race or immigration status but is not including citizens living abroad as expats in their inoculation plan; is that I am able to access the vaccine at a reasonable cost regardless of my race or nationality. But we shall see... and I won’t be holding my breath.????

seventh is thought to have died from overdosing

Seems to me many are jumping to the conclusion that all of these deaths were from OD, when only one is “thought” to have died from OD. The story doesn’t say or provide and evidence of this. I hope investigating officers don’t make same assumption without evidence.

Please do not worry. Trumps MAGA militia will keep the unloyal military in their  camps. And will control all the malcontents who wish to question or challenge the liar in chief. Remember the US military has been underfunded until the saviour was elected.

After living through so many I can’t believe he did/said that moments the last 4-years; it’s unnerving to even ponder the thought... one thing I will give him, he’s gonna standout in history books ????

Why does every country FDA need to approve the vaccines?

Surely it is a waste of time, money, resources and will end up the same result.

Why doesn't an International standards body do more thorough testing than any country could do, and approve it worldwide - this is not a country problem.

Well I wouldn’t say waist of time, inefficient bureaucracy yes; but that’s government, it’s all about systems and processes. Corporations are about outcomes and profit by whatever means necessary. Government is about asking for permission, Corporations are about asking for forgiveness, payoffs bribes... IMO, neither is well suited for the task, but it’s what we have, and seems to me so far we’re seeing amazingly good results; as far as record breaking development speed... sad we haven’t seen this level of commitment to cure other killer diseases... something short of creating the greatest economic disaster the world has seen of course.

you think Thai FDA will do clinical trial or lab test to see if it i safe for the precious THAI people or just put an OK  stamp & collect payment for their services ?

I could be wrong, but if Thailand FDA follows same or similar process as USA, they don’t conduct trials. It is the responsibility of the applicant to follow FDA procedures and submit application and all related studies for review. As far as you alluding to corruption, many FDA staffers in the USA look forward to better paying jobs in the private sector; so they don’t want to make a bad impression on a company that might be your future... Not saying system is corrupt, but does make for fertile ground.

after 9 months of one of the worst economic downturns the government is taking a course that favours business at the expense of human lives.

I like your post, but dare I say that economic downturn = poverty for many, and poverty = human suffering and loss of life, especially for the lower income people. My point is, this is a complex problem, pain, suffering and death on both sides of the equation. Massive humanitarian relief programs could help reduce suffering, which we have not seen. But then again this is only my opinion and observations; and are only a glimpse of part of the overall picture, and none of this is a pretty picture. I fear many have and are suffering from the economic disaster, and now maybe facing the disease side of the pandemic. ????

Thailand could see tens of thousands of new daily COVID cases by next month: CCSA

This is plan and simply propaganda to try and solicit the response they feel will be best for the general population. Every government does this and has done this since governments have had media as a tool. IMO, In this case they’re  doing no harm and hopefully some will react by taking the advice of taking precautions. I fear it will not be enough... hope I am wrong.

Right, they planned everything.  Jeez....stunning some think this.

Samui, like a lot of Thailand, priced itself out of the tourist market for many.  Crazy to see rooms going for $150 and up, that are right next to empty lots with trash, down roads that are falling apart, on beaches with encroachment, etc.

    What do you expect?

I agree with your being over price statement; but that’s a choice of targeting a market. I think that the  original post was about a shifting in wealth. A similar situation exists here in the USA, family owned business that are shutdown are failing where the large corporate business are able to lay-off scale back and have more available bailout options. Causing a shift in wealth from smaller to larger corporations many times, but not in all cases. All has happened before, one persons disaster is another’s opportunity. Again making the assumption the original post was saying the disaster is artificially created, for the purpose of driving businesses to a breaking point then picking up cheap... but that’s just silliness; no one in power would ever do that. But someone’s going to benefit from acquiring failing businesses cheap, be interesting who ends up winners and losers.

True, but I seeing nothing changing. The government has weapons and the protesters have giant rubber ducks. Just the way it is, and as it was in Hong Kong. Look where the protests there got them. I'm just trying to be a realist.

At least they are doing what they can do, and without burning business. Besides they do have the attention of the international community. Perseverance and long suffering in their future I fear... change is slow.

    Sensible move.

Probably saw the Thanksgiving airport disaster super spread in the US with the 3,000 bodies piling up daily now.

Thailand a total of three deaths for the last 7 months.

Yes, time will tell how bad things truly are... but what I find interesting is when you compare historical mortality data (USA) with 2020, you wouldn’t even know a pandemic is happening unless you read the news. This certainly wasn’t the case in 1918, where 2-2.5% of the population was the estimated death toll, and the bodies were actually stacking up and mass graves were used. Sorry if a little off topic.

You miss the point. The government shut down the borders to protect the kingdom. It is the government's responsibility to provide aid, it is not worth exposing everyone to illness and/or death just to keep the tourist industry's ability to fleece tourists.

Perhaps, but that’s taking a very black or white viewpoint of a grey subject. Even the WHO doesn’t believe that closed boarders as sustainable strategy. IMO closing boarders and keeping blinders on to the other problems being caused by this treatment, is an over simplistic and ineffective solution.
