Well after a issue with the check-in staff at Heathrow over pre-departure test, we finally got here, T&G is not so bad, arrived at the hotel at about 18.00 took the PCR test and was told result by 01.00 am, it actually arrived at 03.00 all clear and free to go????????. Travelled to Buriram only to find that the local Ampur can decide what he wanted, and although the government said acceptable a PCR test and the statement that is TEST & GO, I then found out that I had to stay home for 2 days before I could leave my house. So welcome to Thailand the place that used to be known as the Land Of Smiles, it still holds the abbreviation L.O.S. but nowadays it stands for the Land Of Scared people. ( But at least I made it home, and should be thankful for small mercy's.

The latest twist to this is I have just got off the phone with my airline ( not my airline, but the one I am traveling with) and was told that because my journey starts from London on the 31st March I still require a pre-departure test, even though I don't arrive in Thailand until the 1st April and where nobody will be bothered to check if I have had a test, so the answer is don't leave your home country until after the 1st April.

mickj88, as I see it you can't take the test until 72 hours before anyway, so just wait until the 1st and check with your airline they should update their website by then, if you still need it for departure you still have time. BTW when my wife spoke to the Thai embassy in London they told her they would not need to see it in Swampy after the 1st. Good luck

Well! I have just returned from the Finnair ticket desk in LHR ( I live nearby so was easier than waiting 2 hours plus for the phone to be answered) Although Thailand has lifted the need for pre-departure tests from 1st April they have not bothered to tell the airlines, so I still require a PCR test for next weeks departure but wife and son traveling on Thai passports do not. That's up to date @ 15:00 24/3/22.

With all the travel restrictions and hoop jumping to get through, it's unlikely there are many Russians or Ukrainians in or about to travel to Thailand anyway, However a more interesting question might be, How much Russian currency is Thailand holding in foreign reserves now that the Russian currency is all but useless?? which brings back a thought of years ago, when it was not known as Rubels but "RUBBLES" Just a Question to ponder for the illustrious P.M. and his Hub of finance.

I picked up a copy of Friday's the London Evening Standard and although this wasn't the main splash, I thought it might be a little food for thought for "The Great and Wise" Prime Minister and his LACKY A-Nut-In. This is what happens when you remove all stupid tests for fully vaccinated people, for what is in most cases nothing more than a cold. Plus I thought the first two words were extremely poignant.

To be fair, I have emailed plenty of SHA plus+ in Buriram but this is the first I have had a reply from, so will wait and see. I really think that now even Australia is opening up that the Thai's may drop this nonsense. ???????? -
