You could try JUSMAGTHAI, but last time I checked they weren't allowing anyone on the base. They have a website that you can check, they are located in BKK, SE of the embassy, about a kilometer.

JUSMAG is letting retirees on (went yesterday).  Some things are closed or restricted, others open- but may require an appointment.  However, COVID or not, there are NO medical services on base for active duty, let alone retirees. Tricare Overseas stated the jab “should” be  reimbursed, yet we won’t know for sure until you pay for it and submit the claim. I’m assuming the VA’s FMP would be the same.  The Embassy currently doesn’t have plans to bring in vaccines for expats.
Our choices are: fly to a base or the States, fly elsewhere and pay, or wait here for whatever they offer (and possibly pay). Looking at the costs and quarantine(s)- I’m waiting for local options to happen/improve.

Why does a forestry official have to wear a military style uniform and beret?

A clown wig and giant fake shoes would be more appropriate for a number of these uniformed types here.

I’ve always wondered about so many government professions that require military style uniforms here.  Plus, the ribbons and they all have about the same  In the militaries, they represent an award or service in a combat area.  What does a teachers represent?

As a gesture of good will, perhaps the US can send an advance medical team to help vaccinate the Thai military and "front line works" ahead of the exercise

The US military and government sinks a ton of money into these exercises and to build capacity/capabilities for the Thai “partners”, not to mention all the money the service members spend when here.  What good will in return has there been?   Instead, buddying up to Xi every opportunity it seems.  BTW: Thailand delayed doing anything, then purposely decided to go with China’s vaccine, maybe they should step up and BUY more quality vaccines and ensure proper distribution.

In my building there are large units with owners I know that have not been able to sell for years. The small ones like mine are more popular. Old building great location good management but no pool, not modern. 80 percent Thai owned most just use for weekends and not many foreign renters now.

Are they in BKK (if so, where) and willing to rent?  Are they pet friendly?

I'm starting the search for a new rental.... TIA

Not an income generator as such, but my wife has one final annual payment to make this year, to complete what I would describe as a 15-year Endowment Policy of some kind. The annual payment is 15k so she will pay in 180k. At first she was talking about it being worth 1m baht on maturity but I have lowered her expectations a little but to be honest I have no clue what she will get. I'd be happy for her if she were correct of course. She did well to think so far ahead. Well before we met just 4 years ago.

It's with Bangkok Insurance (not bank) and comes with a life policy of 200k.

These are decent nest egg starters with an average rate of return between 3-7% (depending on which policy, etc).   Very simple: pay 15k to 30k once per year for terms of 6 up to 15 years and then in 15 to 30 years- cash out and get a small insurance policy whilst paying.

While I have my main retirement and investments in/from the States, we bought a couple seven or so years ago from Allianz Ayudhya.  We then bought a couple for our daughter when she was born a few years later.  We bought a couple more last year, then my wife decided to go to work selling them... if anyone looking for any information- hit me up, I'll put the Mrs in touch.

  6. Hello, just moved back and entered 31 August on ME Non-O family/spouse (I lived here years ago on a Ed visa, so much different now). I originally planned to exit/reenter (Currently not a good plan) or go to CW every 85 days or so.  I assumed, just go CW late November and report/extend.  Wife now informs me that I have to go within first 45 days for first report/conversion (Extension) or will only have the option to leave/reenter at 90 days.  I have read a few comments alluding to such as well, but can anyone clarify?

Also, would it be better and would it be harder to get the extension based Solely on our child?

    Thank you!

For Retired U.S. Military: Non-Immigrant O visa for Foreigners who are married to Thai nationals or foreigners who are children of Thai nationals with an urgent need to travel to Thailand. Thai Embassy Requirement #3.5 Medical insurance or letter from employer guaranteeing that the insurance company or employer will cover a minimum of 100,000 USD (or equivalent in other currencies) of medical costs incurred by the applicant in Thailand, including medical costs in the event that applicant contracts COVID-19. Make sure you are insured via TriCare Overseas and get a letter stating TriCare Overseas will cover your insurance cost of $100,000+ for your stay in Thailand.

    Dan,

Who do you speak to or how do you get Tricare to provide the letter actually stating the COVID coverage up to $100K USD?  I am trying to get back in on the Non-O (Spouse) and now need letter to get the certificate of entry.  I originally just provided the standard Tricare coverage letter, the Thai consulate called me and stated the insurance letter MUST state at least $100k USD and covers COVID.  I have now spoken with both Tricare East and Overseas and they both state , I'm covered for more, including COVID, however, can't generate a special letter.  I recall some Vets having this problem right with their OA renewal before COVID hit and getting nowhere with Tricare stating their coverages.  TIA
