    Hello,

I am in the situation as you. I completed my iPGCE course in 2020, received my degree, transcripts and required documentation from the University earlier on this year, applied to TCT for the 5 year licence, and was told that all postgraduate qualifications completed post-2019 now require an additional exam sitting with the TCT, but they haven't scheduled any yet for this year. Has anyone else sat this exam or does anyone have any further details? My school is trying to find out more, but there isn't much being made available to them at the moment and I really need to ensure that I sit (and pass) this exam within the next two years.

    Thanks

Hi! Following your post. We chatted last year. I am on my second module with Derby! Hope you get sorted soon.

  2. Hello everyone,

For the last few months I have been researching what course to do to get the teaching license. It's a frustrating process and I've had little support. As the only farang in my school and no response from the TCT I feel very much alone and uncertain what to do. I am currently enrolled to begin a PGCEi with Derby which is due to start in January. However I have just discovered a PGCE with the University of London in conjunction with Swan education. It seems finally someone is bridging the gap between TCT and teachers like myself. It looks like a new course and seems affordable. Is anyone currently doing it as I would love some more information about it if so?

    Thanks

  3. I'm so confused. Just made my application to Derby anyway and made my school contact TCT. They told us that they don't accept the iPGCE??? I currently work in a private kindergarten and not an international setting. Does anyone know if this has anything to do with it? I don't understand why they won't accept a PGCEi but if I do the teaching diploma (5 years) through St Theresa International college then this is ok? Do you think this is just if I stayed at my current school? Seems ridiculous that they don't accept it.

  4. Thanks for getting back in touch.

That's good to know. Have you met or spoken to anyone else that did the same course as you? Did your school recommend the Derby course or did you do all the research yourself? Are you in an international school already? I do wonder if there is an element of judgement from schools or is it really just the same piece of paper at the end of the day? I know Sunderland seems to be the best because of the practical element but that is not an option for me as it is too expensive and I am not currently in an international setting.

How is it going so far? Are you able to apply what you're learning to your current teaching practise?

  5. Hi everyone,

I'm looking into doing a PGCEi and Nottingham seems to be the most popular for Thailand. Is there a reason for this as there are much cheaper alternatives?  Has anyone done it through Cumbria or Derby as they are considerably cheaper and I would like to know if this is a good course? Also on completion has anyone had any trouble obtaining the teaching license as I have read in some forums that these newer courses have not yet been recognised by TCT (Teacher council Thailand). I know Nottingham is accepted but I'm scared of completing it with another university only to be rejected by TCT. I would however like to save myself 2 grand if I can though.

    Thanks in advance!

  6. Hi, i have been following your post as I am in a similar situation. I am currently in Thailand and Nottingham seems to be the most popular course but I too have found cheaper alternatives. I don't want to pick the wrong course though if not approved by TCT. Did you find out if the Derby course was approved in the end?

    Thanks
