the formula of "eat less and exercise more" has to be qualified with eat the right foods first. So it mean reducing carbs drastically (from starchy foods) , eliminating sugary drinks (even if honey) and sugary fruits.  

Finally, opened an account at Kraken. However, note that Kraken works with a third part called ETANA for the bank account linked to your account. You must have the same residential address as used for ID verification. In my case I cannot use my USA bank cuz I use a Thai residential address. So, had to use a different bank.

yes, Fasting 16-18 hrs daily, weekly one day 24 hrs. More keto type, with green leafy veg and other veg also (no red meat)...lost 1 kg in 2 weeks and BMI was at 24.5 to start with. Have reduced diabetes meds to half dosage only and plan to go off it for 6 weeks before I see a doc who seems to believe T2 diabetes is reversible.

You can try peer to peer crypto exchanges?  Most other exchanges will do a KYC and AML verification, and even source of funds verification. So, ideally, if can transfer from THailand to your bank account in that country, you could show source of funds, verify as per AML rules

After getting type 2 diabetes 5 yrs ago and taking standard medication, exercise and reducing carbs, my A1C has not changed.
