  1. Hey Everyone,

I have been working for a private language centre with a valid WP and also added a 2nd place of work (a private university). I am now in the process of moving my main place of work from the LC to a government college. However, I am being told that because it is a government school, I cannot continue to have my 2nd place of work in my WP. I have never heard of this 'rule' and can't find anything online to confirm this.

Has anyone come across this before? Does anyone have a 2nd place of work in WP as well as working in a government institution?

    I'd appreciate any feedback.

    Cheers.

  2. Hi there- The missus and I are off to the Uk next week. She has a 6 month visitor's visa, and now wants to visit her friend in France. She has been there before on a Schengen Visa, but this time it is too late to apply at the French embassy here in Bkk. Does anyone know if it is possible to apply in London?

As far as I can make out you need to have a residency permit to apply for most (all?) embassies (which she does not have).

Any help in this matter will be most appreciated.

  3. Does anyone have any decent sea fishing experiences here in Thailand. I have some friends over early next year and go out fishing regularly back in England. They're looking to give it a go over here. So I'm looking for a professional set-up, knowledgeable captain, proper equipment etc...

I'm in Rayong, so Pattaya would be the best bet. Any help would be most appreciated.

    Can anyone help with this?

  5. In such a situation, you will effectively act as your girlfriend's reason to return to Thailand, so you should submit evidence that you are in a relationship and that you have to resume your employment. Additionally, you will need to demonstrate that there is sufficient money available to pay for the trip and that your girlfriend will have somewhere to stay. If you'll be staying with friends/relatives, then they should provide a letter for the visa officer confirming the invitation to stay and which also states what accommodation will be available.

    Cheers,

    Scouse.

Thanks for the replies so far fellas.

My girlfriend has a pretty expensive lot of family land in her name, would this act as reason to return?

Secondly, Is there a "sufficient amount" that the embassy look for? I mean do they have a calculation of how much per day is needed?

  6. I have been working and living in Thailand for nearly 4 years, and am looking to take my girlfriend of 18 months back home for Christmas. Had a look at the visa form and looks simple enough, but have heard form various sources that it can be quite difficult for non-resident Brits to obtain a visa for their girlfriends. I'm working as a teacher so my salary isn't that great, although we have enough money to cover the trip as we will be staying with family back home. Are there any particular issues I need to be aware of?

Any advice will be very much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Sir Trevor.
