If the lockdowns carry on for much longer (past Chinese New Year in Feb) then I think Walking Street is forever lost to Thai's looking for somewhere to eat near the sea & us Farangs will be relegated to the places on the other side of 2nd Road.

I will say this now. I know the Thai army or gov. Which ever you wish. They did do there best in some respects. But They wanted to kill off Pattaya. That is the truth. I thought thus week 1. It was only when a Thai official l know through Australian boxing told me the truth. Its so very very sad. For me due to the fact l lived there for 5 years. If you ask Bob Arum. Who are the high rollers..He will tell you only the Chinese. But everything comes at a cost later. This gov never made any attempts to keep the entertainment districts alive. Because they were waiting on the Chinese.
They have destroyed many lives and believe there still popular.
What is entertainment

Please consider the horrendous state of most bathrooms It amazes me the irresponsibility shown by owners in cleanness All fixtures should be handless activated STRICT health regulation should be implemented after all by touching spreading is assured .Europe has very strictregulations about sanitation in bathrooms particularly .
Department Stores have been very conscientious about sanitation, but bars , pubs, restaurants, cafes, leave a lot to be desired really .
Some of the worst experiences are midway to Pattaya .. shocking toilets really ..
very poor welcome for tourists .

Half a million restaurants? Probably four times that figure and 90% just about surviving.
If spas need an annual license then so should restaus.
For restaurants making money, a Health Chief should liaise with the Tourist Authority.
The government may not realise at the moment that its survival and that of the nation depend on tourism and there is much to be done to get back into the top ten tourist destinations. Somehow, the govt has stoked a real hate of Thailand amongst people beyond its borders. The Land of Smiles is revealed to be full of violent scammers determined to get something for nothing, which is not a recipe for long term stability and success.
Europe by law demands in the toilets Touchless fixturesWhy not in Thailand .?

Agree fully , even more the status of fixtures of most toilets is so dirty that unless one is desperate better walk out Handless fixtures a must by law in Europe are not enforced in Thailand ..
exposure to viruses seems not to be a concern in public bathrooms

Hospitality venues have policies that guests need to comply with, it is opportune prior to booking to check such policies or if in doubt to ask .
it seems that both parties went to extreme actions .
Social media and platforms such as Trip Advisor are at times too freely abused by people lacking adequate knowledge ,
there are situations where establishments being at fault lack proper Customer care .
There is no need to splash a bad experience everywhere unless the intention is to damage the other party.
Any such action causes a reaction that in this case is as excessive .
No need to bully each other and cause any disaffection between locals and farangs .
Fairness seems to be forgotten in this occasion .

DCD says COVID-19 infection rise will ease in a month if prevention is strictly enforced

One of the problems is having in place a protocol that becomes active immediately as cases are found , unfortunately action by authorities appears inadequate , I know of two cases in two different restaurants ; in the first one a worker was found Positive , in the second a client reported to be positive , in both cases there was no action taken by the authorities .
it seems there may be a lack of integrated coordination between agencies responsible.
In the absence of a protocol :
The first restaurant carried their own sanitation, send a few workers only to test , then carried on with the business without interruption .
The second restaurant sent all workers to test and in addition closed the restaurant for two weeks .
I think it would be appropriate to impose immediate closure say one week, sanitation under supervision, imm diate test for all parties involved , new test 24 hours before reopening .
.. But is there any protocol .?
