Thai Visa is a good recommendation. They may not be the cheapest in town but very reliable.

That is what I've heard from others. They quoted 16,000.

  2. I need to renew a retirement visa and I'm looking for a good agency. Anyone out there who has used an agency for any visa work? I would like to know how much it costs. I've already received a quotation from one agency, and want to find something cheaper, if possible.

Elsewhere, five health workers in alternative state quarantine (ASQ) contracted Covid-19 after one of them took the temperature of a family of three in ASQ on November 24-27, said Sophon. The family was later found to be infected. The health workers eat together after work and share the same room. Their close contacts have been traced and tested. Among them are 226 workers at a private hospital (224 have tested negative while two are waiting for results), 6 co-workers (all negative), 7 at a government hospital (all negative), 14 in the first ASQ (negative), 20 in the second ASQ (negative), and 7 family members (negative).

Doesn't seem to so terribly infectious. So few out of so many who have had contact actually catch it.

  4. Seems the Thai government has suddenly become very interested in people having access to online porn here lately. They recently blocked PornHub.

If they are so intent on preventing anyone from having access to online porn of any type, why don't they simply block all porn sites? And, if they are on a morality crusade, I guess they should shut down all the thai sexual massage parlors, go go bars, beer bars, Thai police brothels, etc.

Should foreigners not have a work permit or correct visa type, they face fines of between 5,000 and 50,000 baht and possible deportation.

For teaching agencies that hire illegal foreign teachers, the penalties are much more severe.

What about the schools? Shouldn't they be penalized for hiring teachers and forcing them to work before they have obtained a work permit?

You see it all the time. Thai schools want foreigners to come teach at their schools, but don't always provide a work visa and permit, nor the documents needed to obtain them.

Also, at this time, the Covid <deleted> makes hiring those with the proper visa impossible. How does this guy think schools offering an English program are going to be able to find these positions when no one can get the work visa?

Although Asian...Thais and Filipinas are easily told apart. Mannerisms, skin tone, facial features and accents. No way could a Thai pass off as a Filipina.

From my experience teaching in Thailand, Thai students don't pay attention to foreign teachers. So, as long as they were told by a Thai school teacher or administrator that their teacher is Filipino, they will never notice.

Why not to let those already in the country apply for this new Visa? Or we need to leave the place first, then buy expensive tickets and go through 14 days quarantine?

I think that may be the plan. It forces more people to quarantine in those over-priced luxury resort hotels that have been losing money for many years, as most people wouldn't stay in them due to the high cost.

I’d be curious to know exactly how much the hospital bills have been for the Thais that have been hospitalized here for coronavirus, and if it even comes close to the US$100,000 coverage that they require foreigners to carry.

The ฿400,000-800,000 insurance requirement to extend my “retirement visa” now basically jumps to a ฿5,000,000 policy requirement (The ฿3,000,000 pacific prime policy won’t be sufficient according to my insurance agent) if I, as a retiree, ever want to leave and then reenter Thailand for any reason.

I read an article a while back in the Bangkok post about Thais complaining about being charged for Covid treatment at Private hospitals, since the government made a statement that no Thai citizen should be charged for Covid treatment.

The article stated that some were paying up to or a little more than 100,000 THB (in PRIVATE hospitals). That's not really a lot considering it was treatment in Private hospitals.

I was also perplexed by the US$100,000 insurance coverage requirement. You would have to be hospitalized for many months for a very serious illness to even make a dent in that amount here in Thailand.
