I did PM you the co-ordinates of an agent that was successful in providing an applicant with the 1-year extension of stay based on his Non Imm O Visa for reason of marriage.

The fee was quite reasonable (25.000 THB) and included the 'fix' for the 400K which the applicant did not have.  The agent has connections with the Khon Kaen Division Headquarters that needs to approve a marriage-type application, so should be well possible from where you live.

    Peter,

I have gotten it. I will keep you informed via PM as to the outcome.

    I truly appreciate this.

    Thank you very much,

    Doug

Have been dealing with KK for years and have always found them to be very friendly and helpful.

Never had any problems with marriage extensions but I use 400 k in the bank.

The main Embassies do not issue income letters.

I talked to the yesterday and they were adamant that I had to have one year of 40,000 a month before for them to do my extension.

I am glad that everything goes well for you. I watched the officers working with others and they seemed friendly and helpful, so I was a bit surprised by the response I got. Well, I should the response my wife got. She was at the office with me.

    You are right, Doug.

Ubonjoe is THE BEST for immigration stuff ????

I'm the complete opposite of an immigration expert. But:

If I understood well, you have a "marriage visa". And you are trying to get a one year extension based on marriage.

I was in the exact same situation. And without 400k THB.

Can't you get an income certificate from your home Country's Embassy to get the one-year extension?

That is how I have done it at Sri Racha Immigration.

They refused the certificate in Pattaya, Jomtien Immigration.

Lucky for me, Sri Racha, which was closer from my address, and is in the same province, accepted my income letter.

However, my rich condo owner drove from Bangkok to pick me up in Chonburi City, and we drove together to the immigration at Sri Racha. I think it helped a lot to have someone with "power/influence/money" to get the one-year extension done... because when I went alone, Sri Racha Immigration treated me horribly. I almost ended up in a cell for not doing the TM30. And they didn't want to extend my visa by one month (tourist) or two months (marriage), just because I didn't do the TM30 report...

Don't you have a similar owner where you live by any chance? ^^

You should try to call the number Ubonjoe gave you anyway.

You have got nothing to lose, right? ????

I hope for you that you will get your one-year extension.

I know it's a very stressful process ???? but you have got to try everything you can, right?

Keep me posted if you want.

Take Care and stay calm ^^ ❤️

    Alex

    Alex,

Thanks for your words of encouragement. I am working on getting this taken care of. unfortunately I don't have the means at this time to do the 400,000 in the bank, but I can do the 40,000 a month. The problem is that I didn't do it before. I know how stupid that was, so please to all the "wise asses" out there, don't comment unless you have something helpful to say.

The main problem is with the Khon Kaen IO. They won't accept the 2 month seasoning of the 40,000 for the 1st extension. They want one year. Hence, my asking about an agent that works with Khon Kaen IO.

    Thanks again,

    Doug

    1. Many offices do not accept the 2 months of 40k baht transfers rule especially if you are on a multiple entry non-o visa.

    2. You could apply for the 60 day extension and it would not affect 2 months of transfers for the first extension rule.

I not sure that anything can be done to change a immigration offices requirements. Some people have tried calling the 1178 immigration hotline and it did not help.

Thank you very much for your quick response. I hope you know how much you are appreciated on this forum!

Does anyone know of an agent for Khon Kaen IO? I think i will check out that route.

  5. Hi All,

I am presently under amnesty with a last entry date of 9 Mar 2020. I have a Non-O multi-entry visa from Savannkhet. I just moved to Khon Kaen and went to the IO yesterday to submit my change of address. My wife was with me. I had her ask about getting a one year extension. She was told the two options, 400,000 baht seasoned for two months or 40,000 a month for 12 months. I was under the impression that for the first extension, the 40,000 had to only be for two months prior to application.

1.Does anyone know if there is a problem at the Khon Kaen IO and if so, what can one do about this?

    2. Would it be wise to get a 60-day extension prior to appying for the 1 year? Or would that negate the "first extension" policy of 2 months seasoning of 40,000 a month for a 1 year extension?

Maybe Ubon Joe could help with a clarification.

Thanks to all in advance for any help,

    Doug
