  1. Has anyone found another way to "prove" you monthly income is enough (65,000 baht/month I think?) since my lazy US Embassy will no longer notarize income affidavits?

It would seem if you could get a letter from your bank attesting to the fact that I have had well in excess of the required amount deposited from overseas Into my Bangkok Bank account every month since 2014, that would be enough. Apparently it is not as I had to put 400,000 (married to a Thai) in to my account for 4 months when I renewed my visa last time.

I thought I had read here there were some work arounds, but maybe not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any useful information.

  2. When I (married to a Thai) went to renew my annual visa, my embassy no longer does the affidavits, immigration told me they couldn’t give 2 <deleted>s if the president of Bangkok Bank himself wrote me a letter detailing my continuous direct deposits into Bangkok Bank each and every month since June 2014. If I didn’t have 400K in a bank 3 months before I applied, I was going home. I support my Thai wife of 15 years, her 3 kids, my kid, and my father-in-law (mother-in-law recently passed away), and have been since I early retired here in 2014. I’ve pumped more money into the Thai economy in 6 years than the immigration lady’s entire family will see in their lifetime, yet she was going to kick me out of the country. I blame my lazy-ass Embassy more than I blame Thai immigration though.

  3. Kind of related, but if not I’ll open a new thread.

Are there any banks that will give a car loan or credit card if I don’t have a Thai work permit?

I have lived here since 2014. I retired early and have had part of my retirement direct deposited into Bangkok Bank every month since I moved here. I don’t work here. I’ve been told no work permit, no credit.”

Anyone know otherwise? No, I don’t want to go to a loan shark, thanks. ????
