I would recommend the Bangkok Golf Club, it's about a one hour drive north of Bangkok, I always go by taxi. Taxi's as you know aren't expensive.
I've gone to this club twice on my own and each time was put with one or two others. Each time was great, one time they put me with two retired gentlemen, one 72 and the other 78, both good players for their age.
They have rental clubs and golf carts.

I've always wanted to play Lam Luk Ka but I don't have my own transport. Has anybody ever taken a taxi there from Bangkok?
How difficult is it to get a taxi from Lam Luk Ka back into Bangkok?
Hi - I've played Lam Luk Ka a few times, and have always taken a taxi to get there. From SCB Plaza or the Sofitel nearby it takes approximately 1 hour, maybe a little bit more. It's really far out, but worth the time and effort, it's a really beautiful course, birds, lakes and very quiet. I forget what I paid for the taxi though. I would suggest you contact reception about 1 hour before you're ready to go home to ask them to call a taxi for you.

Hi, I would like to learn Golf in Bangkok on a 1-to-1 basis.
Approximately how much would it cost per lesson?
And how many lessons should I have?
Any good recommendations for a beginner? I'm totally new to golf.
Zen - You are absolutely correct to start your golfing career with lessons. The more you sign up for the less expensive it usually is. It's been a long time since I had lessons, but when I did it was at a driving range across from SCB Plaza, there was a older gentlemen teacher who gave me lessons, he was great. Had loads of patience which is important for a beginner.
Once you get the bug, it'll drive you crazy, but best of luck. You'll have a lot of fun.

Try the Bangkok Golf Club, 45 minutes from Bangkok, is in great condition and is a beautiful course.

There are two that I know of and have played.
North Park - near the old airport on the left hand side as you leave Bangkok - basic and not too difficult
Bangkok Golf Club - more challenging and much more interesting, excellent par 3

A 2 year travel exemption may be obtained by filing I-131, this can be downloaded by visiting the NIS website. My wife obtain the 2 year travel exemption 2 1/2 years ago but recently had to return to do a green card run.
We have since applied for another 2 year travel exemption, the I-131 must be mailed from the U.S., but she must now return again to do a biometrics which I understand to be a fancy name for finger printing.
If the I-131 is not submitted or approved, then I believe one has to return every six months.

I no longer live in Thailand, but the Bangkok Golf Club was by far my favorite course. The par 3 is the best par 3 I have ever played. If we were fortunate enough to return to Thailand I would certainly join the BGC again.

Can anyone please advise me on the following -
I can obtain a retirement visa, but my wife, from Azerbaijan is 20 years my junior and obviously is not eligible. Is it possible for me to sponsor her if I have a retirement visa?
Being from Azerbaijan we have great difficulty in obtaining visas for her, to any country outside of the FSU.

I think the expression is 'hooked'.
There are various reasons why golfers become hooked.
For me, it is a combination of loving the outdoors, to be able to play with other like minded people, and I guess the most important reason, the challenge of it, the will to improve and when it doesn't go very well (which is usually the case) to know tomorrow it'll surely be a better day.

See also Non-Immigrant Visa "O-A" (Long stay) - visa for retired persons:II. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR VISA APPLICATION
In case that the applicant wishes to have his/her spouse stay together in the Kingdom but the spouse is not qualified for the “O-A” visa, their marriage certificate shall also be produced as evidence and should be notarized by notary organs or the applicant’s diplomatic/consular mission. (The spouse will be considered for temporary stay under category “O”).
IV. Recommendations for the aliens while staying in the KingdomIf the alien’s spouse wishes to extend his/her stay as well, the marriage certificate is required.
Thank you much, appreciate the feedback.
I understand then I can sponsor my wife if we have our marriage certificate notorized and translated into Thai for the immigration authorities.

I have a two bedroom condo near SCB Plaza that requires an agent or someone to manage it's rental or leasing. We have been using someone but they have become totally unreliable lately.
Is there an agency or company that someone could recommend?
